All I wanted for Christmas was to find out who Riverdale‘s Black Hood killer is… and you know, kids, sometimes wishes do come true.
It’s Christmas time in Riverdale, and Kevin is having a Secret Santa party for the gang… which gets awkward fast, since Archie and Jughead are still freshly broken up with Veronica and Betty. Considering everything that's been happening on the planet in the last several months, you'd have thought we're already in November or December – of 2117. But no. It's only June. 2017. And in some parts of the world, that's the month of brides, fathers, graduates, gays, and climate change denial. Beginning this evening, Thursday, June 1, Turner Classic Movies will be focusing on one of these June groups: Lgbt people, specifically those in the American film industry. Following the presentation of about 10 movies featuring Frank Morgan, who would have turned 127 years old today, TCM will set its cinematic sights on the likes of William Haines, James Whale, George Cukor, Mitchell Leisen, Dorothy Arzner, Patsy Kelly, and Ramon Novarro. In addition to, whether or not intentionally, Claudette Colbert, Colin Clive, Katharine Hepburn, Douglass Montgomery (a.k.a. Kent Douglass), Marjorie Main, and Billie Burke, among others. But this is ridiculous! Why should TCM present a...

Posting raunchy videos or pictures in social-networking sites to gain popularity seems to have become the latest fad in Bollywood. One such attempt has been made by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's lookalike Sneha Ullal, who has made her debut in Bollywood with Salman Khan's Lucky - No Time For Love, by sharing an erotic video on a video sharing website. The video has Sneha in a see-through white dress seductively moving on bed and posing in a closed room. Sneha even flaunts a 'heart'...

No monsters from Mick Garris. In their stead: comedy! Here’s The Palm Beach Story.
The original title of this influential screwball comedy was Is Marriage Necessary?, but even though writer-director Preston Sturges was on a roll, he couldn’t get that one past the Hays Office. This was Joel McCrea’s second Sturges lead after the fabulous Sullivan’s Travels and the seventh of ten Sturges-written movies in which William Demarest appeared. The Wienie King and The Ale and Quail Club have become iconic comic touchstones for fans the world over.
Click here to watch the trailer.
No time for love, today. But Mick’s right. This is a very funny movie. There are tons of clips up on YouTube, but if you have any interest in a classic comedy, track down the whole thing. It’s worth your time.

Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan
Actor Shahrukh Khan won?t give up the title Happy New Year to Salman?s former directors
Shahrukh Khan?s petulance has upset the director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. Rao and Sapru, who directed Lucky ? No Time For Love (2005) starring their ?mentor? Salman Khan wanted the title Happy New Year for their next project. But Shahrukh Khan is in no mood to let go of the title. In fact, he reportedly got producer Bhushan Kumar to change the title after Salman?s former directors were roped in for the film.
Farah (Khan) was supposed to direct Happy New Year, but as far as I know, she isn?t working with Red Chillies any more. If Srk isn?t making it, he should give us the title,? reasons Sapru in an interview.
Anyway, the film is now called I Love New Year and stars Kangna Ranaut.

Seems like the Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan tussle just got worse. This time, the bone of contention is a film title. Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, of Salman-starrer Lucky — No Time For Love (2005) fame, wanted the title Happy New Year for their next film to be produced by Bhushan Kumar. Apparently, Shah Rukh asked Bhushan to change the title after he learnt that Vinay and Radhika, friends of the Dabangg (2010) star, wanted to direct it. With the super hit ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ ,Bollywood got its most unusual pair, with Kangna Ranaut and R.Madhavan seen on-screen for the first time in their careers. Many doubted their compatibility as a couple on screen but with the film being tagged as a hit by the audience, all doubts were cleared.
People then started to assume that Madhavan and Kangna will go on to make a hit pair in future but all such hopes can now be put on hold as Maddy has opted out of a film starring his latest co-star. Directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru of ‘Lucky – No Time for Love’ fame were all set to commence.

We all know how supporting & generous our star, Salman Khan is, for newcomers. He leaves no stones unturned in promoting them. First he brought Sneha Ullal, a look alike of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, into lime light by casting her in the film Lucky . No Time For Love. With that she soon became the talk of the town. Then he helped boosting Katrina Kaif's budding career and today she is touted as the hit queen of Bollywood. Not so long ago, he even introduced Katrina Kaif's look alike...

What's common to the films Chasme Budoor, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Lucky-No Time For Love, Bunty Aur Babli, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya and terms like 'comedy', 'class acting' etc... Well, we would have loved to say that the common factor that 'connects' all of the above is 'Ravi Baswani'. The sad news is that Baswani who redefined comedy in his own way in Indian films passed away yesterday. It is indeed a tragic loss not just to Bollywood, but also to mankind, he was also known to be a simple and down to earth man. Ravi suffered a massive heart attack. We at Bollywood Hungama pray for the departed soul, thus wishing that may His soul rest in eternal peace.

Hollywood and Broadway star whose family life inspired the musical Gypsy
Those who know the gorgeously gaudy Jule Styne/Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical Gypsy (1959) will remember the refrain of "my name is June, what's yours?" addressed to the audience by the curly-haired child performer. "Baby" June was based on June Havoc, who has died aged 97, and the show was inspired by her early days in Us vaudeville with her "monstrous" stage mother and older sister Rose Louise, who became Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous stripper.
"I think Gypsy was one of the most smashing shows I've seen in my life," Havoc once told me. "But very little to do with fact. My mother was not such a monster. Few parents who had a child who, at the age of two, stood on her toes and danced every time she heard music, could resist putting her forward. Particularly if the child was happy doing it.

I'm sure someone else has already noticed and publicized this (I'm weeks behind on my web reading... so far behind I have almost no idea what's going on. Where am I?) but I can't get over the fact that there's two Ryan Binghams in the Oscar race this year.
There's "Ryan Bingham", the latest vessel for George Clooneyism in Up in the Air and Ryan Bingham the songwriter/performer who wrote the lovely theme song for Clooney's big Oscar competition "Bad Blake", the latest incarnation of Jeff Bridges. How weird is that?
And which films will find Oscar favor this year in the Original Song category? The category is tinier then usual with stricter rules in place (one of them is that a film can't have more than two song nominated anymore) so all 63 of these songs will have a mighty struggle making it to the short(est) list. A staggering 63 songs have been submitted to the Academy for consideration in the Best Original Song category with a list of artists that span an incredible spectrum. The convoluted, complicated selection process means this number will ultimately be whittled down, however, to anywhere between zero and five nominees. The full rules on the nomination process can be found here.
As usual the list comprises an eclectic mix this year ranging from “Cinema Italiano” from Nine through to songs from the Hannah Montana film and the misfiring “Dove of Peace” from Bruno. Scanning the entrants brings up quite a few pleasant surprises though including, but not limited to, Through The Trees the wonderfully satiric song from Jennifer’s Body and the Jarvis Cocker performed “Petey’s Song” from The Fantastic Mr. Fox (a song which Michael Gambon refers to as “bad songwriting” in the film’s script). 5…Five!…songs from Hannah Montana The Movie??? Really??? Once again, a category that AMPAS will never take seriously. Then they proceed to leave off the list Mary J. Blige’s song from Precious, “I Can See in Color.” Nevermind that they complete lost me with “The Word Is Love” from “Oy Vey! My Son Is Gay!” Please feel free to leave a comment below if you’ve heard of this one. However, I was thrilled to see two songs from one of my favorite films of 2009, An Education, make the cut, “Smoke Without Fire” and “You Got Me Wrapped around Your Little Finger.” A soundtrack I highly recommend.

There is probably not a child, young or old, who does not know the names Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Charlie Brown, the original Debbie Downer and poster boy for the socially awkward, became the mainstay of holiday programming through countless TV specials since the 1960s. Now, Warner Bros has released “Peanuts 1970’s Collection Vol. 1,” featuring six episodes you will quickly recall with a fond memory. The set includes two Peanuts episodes new to DVD, “Play it Again, Charlie Brown” and “It’s a Mystery, Charlie Brown,” as well as four previously released classics: “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown,” “There’s No Time for Love, Charlie Brown,” “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” and “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown.” Most episodes feature the core set of Charlie Brown characters: Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus Van Pelt, Lucy Van Pelt, Sally Brown, Peppermint Patty and Marcy. The second collection of Charlie Brown films, assembled according to the decade of their release (in this case it’s the 1970s), suffers from a lack of well-known Charlie Brown classics. Making the whole set even more unfortunate is the fact that it’s made up of little films which were typically used as accompaniments on the main rereleases of the big hitters. For example, You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown can be found as the extra for the It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown disc. For the fans of Schulz’s work who’ve bought up the discs and VHS tapes as they were released, this is going to feel like an extras disc without a main features package to back it up.

After last year’s critically acclaimed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Steven Spielberg has been reportedly working on the next installment in the Indiana Jones saga.
Wait. That doesn’t sound right. Let’s try that again…
After making over $786 million dollars worldwide, Steven Spielberg has been reportedly working on the next installment in the Indiana Jones saga.
There we go - much better.
On the brighter side, Spielberg said that he has been working with George Lucas on the script and they are looking to bring back Sean Connery for this go round.
I wouldn’t really say that’s too surprising considering Connery has been one of the favorite additions to the Indiana Jones franchise. Second only to Shortround (“No time for love, Dr. Jones!”).
Connery reportedly declined the opportunity to reprise his role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
