Lee Bowman, Aline MacMahon, Marjorie Main, Susan Peters, and Zasu Pitts in Tish (1942)

Trivia

Tish

Edit
This film did well at the box office, earning MGM a profit of $160,000 (over $2.83M in 2023) according to studio records.
According to contemporary articles in the film press, this was planned to be the first in a series of "Tish" pictures, but no others were made. Also, this film had been in development for more than eight years and was to have starred Marie Dressler, but she passed away in 1934.
Two performers in studio records and casting call lists were not seen in the movie. These were Margaret Bert (Mrs. Phelps) and Rudy Wissler (Newsboy). Jesse Arnold (Woman in Street) is listed in a modern source, but she was not seen in the film.
Spring Byington was listed as a cast member in a pre-production item, but she also was not seen in the movie.
Richard Quine (Ted) and Susan Peters (Cora) would marry in real life in 1943, the year after this film was released. They and another couple were on a hunting trip when Peters was accidentally shot and paralyzed from the waist down on 1 January 1945. They would divorce in 1948. In the fall of 1952 she stopped eating and drinking - essentially committing suicide - and died on 23 October 1952.
