The Mouthpiece (1932)

Review by akoaytao1234

The Mouthpiece

8/10

Warren William Proves His King of Precode

A lawyer who made a deadly error as a prosecutor decides to fall into defense work to never make a 'fatal' mistake again. He becomes so embroiled with illegal activities that he pretty much becomes the "mouthpiece" of the mob. But he falls in love with another secretary, he comes to his senses and tries to make things right.

Warren William is back with APLOMB, this time as a dapper, inebriated, philandering lawyer to gangster!

I really enjoyed watching this film and how ridiculously insane it is. I watched this back-to-back with Smarty, which might be the first true BDSM film, and William's character is such a damn scoundrel in this. He is willing to go the distance just to get what he wants. This truly feels like Pre-code AND his character is such a highlight.

Its just a weird viewpoint in cinema to see before the 1970s, to be honest. A slimy man who did not know his limits until he could.

Excited for Employee Entrance.

Recommended.
