The drunken novelty salesman is often misidentified as Oliver Hardy. It's actually Otto Fries. The confusion is probably due to Oliver Hardy providing the scream that Fries makes when the bear licks the salesman's face.
Although Laurel and Hardy had already started making movies together as the legendary duo they became, Oliver appears here in a small role as an inebriated novelty salesman without Stan... or his trademark mustache.
