Tom Tyler is The Man From Nevada. He's got a big, well maintained ranch in the valley. Alfred Hewston, on the other hand, has a shack in which daughter Natalie Joyce tries to take care of her three siblings, while Hewston just lays about. Al Ferguson wants all the land. He's had his brother at the land office send in a request to have Hewston's homestead declared invalid. He's also trying to frame Tyler by stealing his brands, putting them on other people's cattle, and leaving an old hat of Tyler's at the site. Can Tyler save both ranches?
It's the sort of plot that many a B western would use for the next twenty-five or so years. Pluses include Hewston as cowardly comic relief, compared with the gumption by his children. However, I wish to call attention to the excellent camera work by Hap Depew, the well paced editing, and the general excellence of the presentation on the blu-ray copy recently issued by Undercrank Productions, with a solid piano score by Ben Model. Those of us who look at B westerns are used to dealing with cut-down-down blotchy prints. This copy is in pristine condition and shows the sort of images that you won't see on contemporary westerns from major studios, let alone a Gower Gulch production like this one. If you want to see what even Gower Gulch studios could turn out in the silent era, this will be a revelation.
