Expect Hellraiser: Judgment To Be Fluent In Scares And Gruesome Horror
When Gary J. Tunnicliffe waxes lyrical on the Hellraiser series, it’s worth standing up and taking notice.

Now on the verge of its tenth instalment, Hellraiser: Judgment, Tunnicliffe recently appeared on the latest episode of The Movie Crypt podcast (h/t Bloody Disgusting), in which the series veteran and frequent make-up artist teased some of the brutal horrors in store.

Directing from his own script, Hellraiser: Judgment is very much a passion project for Tunnicliffe, who told hosts Adam Green and Joe Lynch that he’s never had as much fun – nor has he worked so hard – during the production of Judgment. And yes, the end product will be fluent in scares and gruesome deaths.

I had the most fun on that I’ve ever had, and I’ve never worked so hard on a Hellraiser film, but we had a great time. We did two sequences where… one the actress almost passed out…...

The Eclipse Viewer – Episode 55 – Julien Duvivier in the Thirties [Part 2]
http://criterioncast.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/The-Eclipse-Viewer-Episode-55-2.mp3

This podcast focuses on Criterion’s Eclipse Series of DVDs. Hosts David Blakeslee and Trevor Berrett give an overview of each box and offer their perspectives on the unique treasures they find inside. In this first episode of a two-part series, David and Trevor discuss two films (La tête d’un homme and Un carnet de bal) from Eclipse Series 44: Julien Duvivier in the Thirties.

About the films:

Remembered primarily for directing the classic crime drama Pépé le moko, Julien Duvivier was one of the finest filmmakers working in France in the 1930s. Thanks to a formidable innate understanding of the cinematic medium, Duvivier made the transition from silents to talkies with ease, marrying his expressive camera work to a strikingly inventive use of sound with a singular dexterity. His deeply shadowed, fatalistic early sound films David Golder and La...

This podcast focuses on Criterion’s Eclipse Series of DVDs. Hosts David Blakeslee and Trevor Berrett give an overview of each box and offer their perspectives on the unique treasures they find inside. In this first episode of a two-part series, David and Trevor are joined by Aaron West to discuss two films (David Golder and Poil de carotte) from Eclipse Series 44: Julien Duvivier in the Thirties.

Trump’s Head-Scratching Proverb and More St. Patrick’s Day Missteps Spark Complaints from Irish
Donald Trump
President Donald Trump and members of his administration are feeling the wrath of the Irish after a series of culturally insensitive moments during Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny’s annual St. Patrick’s Day-timed visit to Washington.

Kenny, who had previously criticized Trump for his “racist and dangerous” language, followed through with the traditional trip on Thursday, despite a petition from nearly 40,000 people who demanded he cancel.

With his staff and more than 20 Irish reporters by his side, the prime minister (called a “Taoiseach” in the Irish language) participated in a day of events — including a luncheon at the U.

5 Things to Know About 6-Year-Old Etan Patz — Whose Sudden Abduction Gripped America
On May 25, 1979, a misty summer morning in New York City, 6-year-old Etan Patz begged his mother, Julie, to let him walk the few blocks to school alone. She relented, and the last time she saw him alive he was walking away from her.

Etan’s mysterious disappearance struck fear both in his New York City neighborhood and the country as a whole, as the little boy became a leading face for the search for missing children everywhere.

In February, decades after he became the first-ever “milk carton kid,” a jury finally convicted Etan’s killer though his body was never found.

Bones Round Table: The Spider's Revenge!
Aubrey lost his appetite after running into his fugitive father, Cam planned revenge against Hodgins and Max was Mia once again on Bones Season 12 Episode 5.

Our TV Fanatics Ashley Bissette Sumerel and Christine Orlando are joined by Pam, a Bones fan, to debate Cam’s revenge, Aubrey’s father’s return, and what dangling plot point we’re dying to see tied up after The Tutor in the Tussle.”

Should Hodgins have told Cam about the spiders and do you hope to see her take her revenge?

Ashley: Oh, he definitely should, but this way is going to be so much more fun. I'd love to see what Cam does to get him back.

Pam: Yes, he should have told her knowing how crazed she is about them. However, we wouldn't have gotten a nice scene filled with humor had he done so.

He wanted to get away from...

Bones Season 12 Episode 5 Review: The Tutor in the Tussle
There aren’t many shows where you’d find a gruesomely decomposing body dumped on Boner Street, but leave it to Bones to go there.

The kid trying to steal the sign and stumbling over the corpse was expected, but Brennan, of all people, getting such a laugh over the street name was not.

The human penis has no skeleton material of any kind.

Brennan Permalink: The human penis has no skeleton material of any kind. Added: January 31, 2017

Let’s face it, humor is subjective.

And Bones Season 12 Episode 5 was a bit of a letdown.

With only 12 episodes in Bones Season 12, I expect every one of them to knock it out of the park, but this one didn’t quite live up to that hope.

However, I did enjoy hearing the team debate who was the best dry cleaner to remove blood, mucus membrane, and fecal matter.

I wasn’t...

Daily | “The Films of Robert Frank”
The BAMcinématek series The Films of Robert Frank features the notorious Rolling Stones documentary Cocksucker Blues (1972) and "includes some 25 moving-image works of varying lengths and genres," notes Amy Taubin, writing for Artforum. "The series as a whole cannot be summarized, nor can the individual films except to say that they share the characteristic of having been made by someone who stubbornly insists on walking out on a high wire without a net. If you’ve not seen Pull My Daisy, it is the classic. But do not miss Conversations in Vermont (1969), Life Dances On (1980) and True Story (2008)—all of them naked in their confusion and anguish about fathering. Best of all is the seemingly casual Paper Route (2002), as close to a perfect movie as you’ll ever see." » - David Hudson...

Oberon on TCM: Actress with Mystery Past Wears Men's Clothes, Fights Nazis
Merle Oberon movies: Mysterious star of British and American cinema. Merle Oberon on TCM: Donning men's clothes in 'A Song to Remember,' fighting hiccups in 'That Uncertain Feeling' Merle Oberon is Turner Classic Movies' Star of the Month of March 2016. The good news: the exquisite (and mysterious) Oberon, whose ancestry has been a matter of conjecture for decades, makes any movie worth a look. The bad news: TCM isn't offering any Oberon premieres despite the fact that a number of the actress' films – e.g., Temptation, Night in Paradise, Pardon My French, Interval – can be tough to find. This evening, March 18, TCM will be showing six Merle Oberon movies released during the first half of the 1940s. Never a top box office draw in the United States, Oberon was an important international star all the same, having worked with many of the top actors and filmmakers of the studio era.

Inside No. 9 series 2: Pemberton & Shearsmith's twisted genius
Here's a spoiler-free look at what to expect from the second series of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith's glorious Inside No. 9...

Inside No. 9 returns to BBC Two on Thursday the 26th of March for six more ingenious genre slices of horror, suspense and psychology. Those who were rattled and gripped by the first round of half-hour plays from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith know to expect to be skilfully sucker-punched with sharp, tricksy writing and well-drawn characters.

Viewers engrossed by the psychological character focus of series one’s Tom & Gerri, the jump scares of series finale The Harrowing, and the unexpected emotional sting of opener Sardines have lots to look forward to from the second series’ first brace of episodes. La Couchette and The 12 Days Of Christine tell the respective stories of a fraught overnight train journey and a woman plagued by a mysterious visitor, featuring guest roles from Mark Benton,...

McCrae Olson, Aaryn Gries, Elissa Slater, and Andy Herren in Big Brother (2000)
Recap: 'Big Brother' Wednesday - We Judge With Andy Herren
McCrae Olson, Aaryn Gries, Elissa Slater, and Andy Herren in Big Brother (2000)
Here's a meager suggestion: Cherish this time now, because we've arrived at the most enjoyable stage of the "Big Brother" season. While there are still plenty of obvious losers with cellophane eyes and candy brains who need to leave Chenbot Manor and head back to their Not So Elite modeling gigs, we've finally arrived at the moment where we can recognize everyone in the house, identify their weaknesses and strengths, and make real predictions. During last night's Power of Veto episode, I came up with five big points to consider as the season progresses. To validate my points, I'm dragging along Andy Herren -- the winner of BB15 -- to share his thoughts on the players too. Here are our five biggest takeaway's from Wednesday's Pov spectacular. 1. Donny is the best. And the worst. Andy Herren: I hate Donny. Don’t get me wrong, I Love Donny, but that’s why I hate him.

Josh Charles on his Emmy nomination -- and the 'Good Wife' Best Drama snub
Josh Charles in The Good Wife (2009)
Josh Charles received his second Best Supporting Actor nomination this morning for playing (the late) Will Gardner on CBS’s The Good Wife. Sick with a cold and cough, he went back to bed after getting up early to let out his dog, Zeus—and learned of his nod when he rolled over and saw a congratulatory email on his iPhone. “Nothing super fancy or exciting, sorry,” he jokes to EW. “I’m really excited about it even if my voice doesn’t sound normal.”

Entertainment Weekly: Lead and supporting actors don’t have to choose an episode to submit until after they’re nominated.

Theatre Review: Marriott’s Too-Clean ‘Cabaret’ Conservatively Mutes Much-Needed Vulgarity
Chicago – It’s “Cabaret” for god’s sake. It’s not “Bambi”. You’re supposed to need to leave the kids at home watching their own Disney flick. You don’t go to McDonald’s to eat healthy just like you don’t go to “Cabaret” for good clean fun.

Play Rating: 3.5/5.0

The show at Chicagoland’s Marriott Theatre starts off with so much potential because of a promise from our Emcee (Stephen Schellhardt). He guarantees we’ll delve into the sketchy world of sin in the Kit Kat Klub where we can put our real-world worries aside. It’s a “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” kind of warranty, but you never feel it realized. And that is the show’s biggest downfall.

Theatre Review: ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Returns With Ingénue Julia Udine, Enigmatic Cooper Grodin
Chicago – The Phantom in one word? An enigma. But he’s so much more. He’s lonely, desperately in love, a musical genius, misunderstood, vengeful, afraid and angry at a world that was so cruel to him. His shining beacon out of the darkness is his music – and falling for Christine. But The Phantom has to try to force her to feel the same way. He doesn’t want your pity. He just wants to be musical, loved and understood.

Play Rating: 4.5/5.0

She partially loves him, but their love is the epitome of complicated. Instead, Raoul (played by Chicago native Ben Jacoby) is the guy she’s supposed to marry and take home to mommy. The Phantom – in a bit of a “Beauty and the Beast”-like story – falls victim to his biggest downfall: choosing to become the monster the world has been to him instead of embracing forgiveness. He...

The 2013 Emmy Nominees, 'Law & Order' connection - An infographic
Recently, "Boardwalk Empire's" Ron Livingston told Zap2it of his time on HBO's "Sex and the City": "I don't think there's an actor in New York who didn't either die on a 'Law & Order' or wasn't one of Carrie's boyfriends."

While not all of 2013's Emmy nominees died on "Law & Order" (some of them had to be the killer/rapist/criminal mastermind), 29 of them have a connection with one or more installment of the "L&O" franchise.

"Homeland's" Morena Baccarin did her time as a "Criminal Intent" extra, and "30 Rock" nominee Alec Baldwin has actually never been on "Law & Order." But he did get a co-credit for the story that became Season 8's "Tabloid."

Bobby Cannavale -- who is nominated for both his "Boardwalk Empire" and "Nurse Jackie" roles this year -- has always been an overachiever, having appeared on "Law & Order," "Svu" and "Criminal Intent." But...

Instead, it's the infamous week where the five skaters still (just about) standing are being handed the baton (or hats or chairs or whatever items were lying about in ITV's reception) as they take to the ice in a bid to make it to next week's semi-final.

So sit back, relax and let Digital Spy be your armchair companion for what could be the last ever chance we get to see celebs throwing hula hoops at each other on primetime telly...

20:55That's it! Another week gone, and only two to go. It's semi-final time next week, with Luke, Gareth, Beth and Matt going all-out to make it to the final. Join us back here next Sunday to see them all fly (well,...

'Dancing on Ice' week six - live blog
With Valentine's Day around the corner, inevitably this means that the cheesy themes are back in business for Dancing on Ice.

Of course it's 'Love Week', so we can probably expect plenty of heart cartoons projected onto the ice, pink costumes and more mention of Samia and Sylvain's 'romance' than you can shake a sparkly stick at.

So dig out the chocolate and sparkling wine (ITV cutbacks etc) and join Digital Spy for all of the luurvely action…

20:55Thanks for joining Digital Spy this evening, and don't forget to put a bid on Pasquale's jockstrap on eBay tomorrow morning. Night, all!

20:55Well, not exactly a shock result - but a bit of a sad one at the same time as at least Joe brought a few lols to the ice. Although I can't say I'm going to miss talk of his prostate or bowel movements.

20:52Teflon...

'Dancing on Ice' week five - live blog
Yes, it's that time again on Sunday night, which can only mean one thing… Welcome to another Dancing on Ice live blog!

This week, there's no kooky 'theme' to the show. It's all about 'The Leveller' - a task which means that the stars will have to skate solo for 30 seconds.

And with Keith Chegwin's rib injury putting his performance in doubt and Gareth Thomas's foot causing him jip, there's worry aplenty in the Doi camp tonight. Quite literally anything could happen. Jason Gardiner might even liken someone's skating to having locked-in syndrome. Again.

So stick with Digital Spy as we see which couples pull it out of the bag, who face-palms the floor and what awful outfits are paraded about. It's going to be great…

20:57Anyway, thanks for joining Digital Spy this evening. Hope you - like I - are just pleased that some goodies (Beth,...

Question: What’s going to happen with Auggie and Annie on Covert Affairs? —Alex

Ausiello: Chris Gorham recently told TVLine that Auggie and Annie are going to have that conversation — and now I can tell you when: the Nov. 20 season finale. It’s “a real game-changer” for the pair, Gorham teases, and “it changes everything.” And if you enjoyed the increase in serialized storylines this season, you’re in luck. ”That’s definitely going to continue,...

Emmys 2012: Handicapping the Outstanding Comedy Series Race – Plus: Our Pick to Win!
Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sarah Hyland, Ed O'Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Beatrice the Dog, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, Reid Ewing, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, and Jeremy Maguire in Modern Family (2009)
If ABC were to go into Sunday’s Emmy ceremony confident that Modern Family was about to add its third comedy series statuette to the network’s trophy case, no one would be the slightest bit surprised. The odds are so in favor of a threepeat for the feel-good, laugh-hard smash that it’s almost no contest. So just imagine how shocked everybody would be if HBO’s Girls — arguably the most talked-about show of the season — managed to parlay all of its buzz into gold. Could the breakout hit, with its sheen of indie cool, really defeat the returning champ,...

Ben Stiller in La Vie rêvée de Walter Mitty (2013)
Ben Stiller: Now And Later
Ben Stiller in La Vie rêvée de Walter Mitty (2013)
For his new movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Ben Stiller plays a timid magazine photo manager who lives life vicariously through daydreams and at one point in the film, we fast-forward to Walter as an old man -- a moment that also gives Ben's wife Christine Taylor a glimpse into her future.

Video - Ben & Christine's Burning Love

I've gotta give the producers credit because this is some phenomenal makeup work. Instead of over-applying lots of prosthetics (think Leonardo DiCaprio in J. Edgar), they've simply aged up Ben, creating a creepily accurate depiction

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which hits theaters on December 25, 2013, is adapted from the iconic 1939 short story and co-stars Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley MacLaine and Josh Charles.

Every week, editors Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com or tweet them at @adam_bryant or @NatalieAbrams.

Is Chase really gone for good on House? — Christine

Adam: Not exactly. While he has definitely resigned, executive producer David Shore confirms that Chase is scheduled to appear in the series finale. But more surprisingly, one of his colleagues might follow him out the door. In Monday's penultimate episode, another doctor is readying a career life raft in case House implodes under the strain of Wilson's increasingly grim diagnosis.

I can't believe The Vampire Diaries finale is Thursday! What will we learn from the flashback to Elena's parents' accident? — Rachel

Every week, editors Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com or tweet them at @adam_bryant or @NatalieAbrams.

What else can you tell me about Patrick Jane's new love interest on The Mentalist? — Christine

Adam: Creator Bruno Heller wants to be clear about one thing: Loralei (Emmanuelle Chriqui) is no ordinary cocktail waitress, and as such viewers should take this relationship seriously. "It's certainly not a fling and it's not a spur-of-the-moment booty call or anything like that," Heller says. "She comes into Jane's life at a very, very low ebb. He's at a moment when he really needs a helping hand and a little ray of light, and she provides that."

Please tell me you have info on Dexter! — James

Young Adult – review
Director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody follow up their bright, optimistic teenage comedy, Juno, with a dark variation on the homecoming/nostalgia-trip movie, a familiar genre that probably originated with Julien Duvivier's Un Carnet de bal in 1937. Charlize Theron plays the depressed, borderline alcoholic divorcee Mavis Gary, ghostwriter on a once popular series of high school novels that's about to be axed. Out of the blue she decides to revisit her native hometown of Mercury, Minnesota, where 20 years ago she was prom queen. Mavis's mad aim is to win back her handsome high-school boyfriend, Buddy (sweet-natured Patrick Wilson), who's just become a father, and wrest him from a life of small-town mediocrity.

At first it's funny and superior as Mavis patronises her despised Hicksville roots and prepares herself for conquest. It modulates into funny and embarrassing, before it becomes unadulterated embarrassment verging on the deeply sad and even tragic.

Revenge Round Table: "Betrayal"
The residents of the Hamptons continued to be haunted by their past on Wednesday's new episode of Revenge, as Emily Thorne set her sights on yet another person responsible for her family's demise.

What was the best scene from "Betrayal?" What does our Round Table panel make of Tyler? Christine Orlando, Leigh Raines and Dan Forcella are happy to answer those questions and others below...

-------------------------------------------

What was your favorite scene from the episode?

Christine: Loved Victoria's eye roll when Emily asked if she could call her by her first name. I know it was just a little thing but it showed the thinly veiled feelings between these two women despite all the civility.

Leigh: For a show that's about scheming, plotting and the awesome conniving ways of Emily Thorne, I'm going to go off base and pick a sweet moment. When Emily returned the dog, yet again, to...

Tim Sullivan Talks Chillerama and Werebear!
[With I Was A Teenage Werebear playing film festivals and Chillerama set to debut later this year, Tim Sullivan writes up the first of two parts, regarding his experiences bringing this unique film to life! --Dqm]

As I write this, I am sitting in my hotel room in Honolulu, one day before the world premiere of my Chillerama segment, I Was a Teenage Werebear at the Rainbow Film Fest.. It’s been a long journey to get to this point. I am grateful to so many who supported my journey, and even more grateful to those who did not, for they only strengthened my fortitude to be true to myself, and to my artistic vision. Hawaii will be followed by a 3 month tour on the Lgbt film circuit, before Werebears joins its companion films as part of Chillerama late summer/early fall. (I cannot Wait to tell you what me, Adam Rifkin, Joe Lynch and Adam Green got planned for That!!!!)

With the ocean breeze wafting through the balcony windows, I find myself in a reflective mode. For those who don’t already know it, let me just spell it out.
