Joseph Allen and Rosalind Keith in Motor Madness (1937)

Motor Madness

1 review

Great location shots of 1930's L.A. and neighbors.

Just a typical 30's-period action-potboiler from Columbia in which speed-boat mechanic Joe Dunn (Joseph Allen Jr. billed as Allen Brook) wins a qualifying trial for a big race, is offered a bribe not to take part in the actual event, and is so incensed that he starts a fight which lands him in prison. Meanwhile, back at the bay, his sweetheart Peggy McNeil (Rosalind Keith), daughter of boat-builder Henry John "Cap" McNeill (J. M. Kerrigan) and Joe's employer, takes his place, crashes into a buoy and is seriously injured. Joe now has to go to desperate lengths to raise money for a famous surgeon and to put an end to the boat-racing racketeers.

Lots of location and street shots of L.A. Harbor, San Pedro Bay, Long Beach and Santa Monica.
