Page Miss Glory (1936)

Trivia

Page Miss Glory

Edit
This film short is included as an extra on the 2005 Warner DVD of Le Danseur du dessus (1935).
The wall calendar in the hotel lobby shows the month of June, beginning on a Monday. This is correct for June of 1936, the month of "Page Miss Glory"'s release, except that the cartoon calendar has a 31st day, whereas June actually has 30 days.
The bellhop tries to emulate the main character from the popular ad campaign for Phillip Morris cigarettes, which featured a snappily attired bell boy at the time.
Prohibition had only ended in 1933, so films (and cartoons) were awash with cocktails, as shown here.
The matron performs a fan dance in the style of exotic dancer Sally Rand, who was hugely popular at the time. The fact the dance was a humorous parody probably got it past the censors of the day. Showing undergarments, even in a cartoon, was just this side of the censorship rules.
