Summaries

  • Fred, the wealthy owner of apple groves, has sent his nephew to college, but the only job that his nephew has after graduating is the job of not working. Bill is a dreamer, a talker and a golf player and he has a lot of ideas, but still lives off Fred. When Hazel gets engaged to Doc Jenkins, it takes a while, but Bill talks her into marrying him instead. The only problem is that now, he needs to find a job.—Tony Fontana <tony.fontana@spacebbs.com>
  • Happy-go-lucky Bill McAllister is proverbially full of applesauce in being a smooth talker, believing that it makes sense to make others feel good even if he doesn't truly believe what he says to them. A recent college graduate, Bill has decided to live off the wealth of his only living relative, his Uncle Fred Schultz, rather than find a job to support himself, which doesn't sit well with Uncle Fred who is trying to cut him off. Bill states that what would make him focus on getting a job is having someone to work for, namely a wife, he long having his eye on Hazel Robinson in that role. He is however a few hours late as Hazel has just gotten engaged to Dr. Randolph Jenkins, a stuffed shirt who is the antithesis to Bill: Doc Jenkins works not to provide or for to live, but for what he considers success. Hazel, who will always consider Bill a friend, deep in her heart may believe that she made a mistake in getting engaged to Doc. Bill will have to use his smooth talking abilities to convince both Doc and Hazel that their engagement is not meant to be, and further to convince Hazel that the two of them should be together. Only if he is able to do so can he prove to Hazel, to Uncle Fred and to Hazel's parents that he can provide a suitable life for a wife like Hazel.—Huggo
