19 TV Marriage Proposals Where The 2nd (or 3rd) Time Was The Charm
First comes love, then comes marriage, or so goes the old rhyme. When people think they have met the one, it is only a matter of time until they pop the question.

Hopefully, after that, it is all smooth sailing. Sometimes, not so much. Sometimes the proposal is rejected, or the couple gets torn apart. For whatever reason, a wedding doesn't happen.

With the turmoil that writers often put couples through, it would be easy to give up. However, some refuse to.

Some say, "So what if we didn't end up getting married the first time around? So what if I got rejected, or I lost you? You're with me now, and I love you, so I'm going to propose to you again, and again, until I get a yes, and a wedding, and get...

7 Films to Watch Alongside The Nun
The James Wan-led “Conjuring Universe” is filled with creepy houses, family turmoil, possessed children (The Conjuring 2), and children’s toys & games gone wrong (both Annabelle films). Besides the fact that The Nun takes place in 1952 which is well before the other four films in this universe, the film brings a stark change of environment by setting the scares in a monastery compared to the usual family households. Of course, with this eerie setting, a whole new style of scares and creepy imagery await audiences anticipating this scary new entry in the series.

The Nun follows the evil entity first introduced in The Conjuring 2. But before seeing the film when it opens this Friday, September 7th, let’s dive into a world of religious horror filled with nasty nuns, satanic spirits, and malevolent monasteries. Holy hell, let’s pray we make it out alive!

The Church (1989)

When you...

Q&A: Joe Casey on His Head-Banging Heroes in New Lieutenants Of Metal
Next month, Joe Casey and Ulises Farinas unleash their kick-ass, head-banging heroes on the world in New Lieutenants of Metal #1 from the Man of Action imprint at Image Comics. Ahead of the first issue release, I caught up with Joe Casey to talk about what we can expect from the new series, teaming up with Ulises Farinas, and being in a metal state of mind. We also have preview pages from the first issue!

Q: How did you come up with the idea of New Lieutenants of Metal and what can our readers expect from the new series?

Joe Casey: Believe it or not, the idea was delivered to me by a man on a flaming pie (as these things often are). The New Lieutenants of Metal are an elite strike force of heroic headbangers that exists to mete out harsh justice whenever and wherever necessary. They're a new breed of superhero,...

Robin Hood Trailer Arrives Starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx
Summit Entertainment has finally dropped the first trailer for Robin Hood, a prequel once known as Robin Hood: Origins, which takes the legendary robber back to his glory days, when he was just starting out. The movie stars Kingsman breakout Taron Egerton as the title hero, with Jamie Foxx arriving as his sidekick Little John. The movie looks action packed and period specific.

Are you ready for another revisionist take on Robin Hood? Ever couple of years, the old mythic adventure gets dusted off for a new generation. And it hasn't really been that long since director Ridley Scott tried his hand at turning the age-old story on its head with the 2010 movie of the same name, Robin Hood, which starred Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. It's been eight years, now millennials have a Robin Hood to call their own.

This latest iteration comes from Summit Entertainment, and is aimed...

Action-Packed Trailer For The New Robin Hood Movie with Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx
The first trailer and a couple new posters have been released for the upcoming new adaptation of Robin Hood. This offers you your first look at Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx in action as Robin Hood and Little John.

This is definitely a different kind of Robin Hood movie. The movie was directed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) and you can tell that it was clearly influenced by the style of Guy Ritchie. It definitely has a gritty tone and it's got that fast-paced action mixed with slow-motion shots. One of the interesting aspects of it was the rapid-fire arrow shooting. When previously talking about the film, Foxx said:

"It’s different. It was directed by Otto Bathurst, who shot Peaky Blinders. The way they shot it was crazy, it looks like you’re watching Zero Dark Thirty. We’re shooting with our bows, but they computer-generated it so it’s rapid-fire,...

Ben Mendelsohn's Sheriff of Nottingham stands out in new Robin Hood images
There are more than a few Robin Hood projects kicking around in various stages of development, but the first to arrive will be Otto Bathurst's (Peaky Blinders) "gritty, revisionist" take on the Robin Hood legend starring Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Golden Circle). The upcoming film will follow Robin Hood as he returns home from fighting in The Crusades and finds that... Read More...

Cummings Pt.2: Working with Capra and West, Fighting Columbia in Court
Constance Cummings in 'Night After Night.' Constance Cummings: Working with Frank Capra and Mae West (See previous post: “Constance Cummings: Actress Went from Harold Lloyd to Eugene O'Neill.”) Back at Columbia, Harry Cohn didn't do a very good job at making Constance Cummings feel important. By the end of 1932, Columbia and its sweet ingenue found themselves in court, fighting bitterly over stipulations in her contract. According to the actress and lawyer's daughter, Columbia had failed to notify her that they were picking up her option. Therefore, she was a free agent, able to offer her services wherever she pleased. Harry Cohn felt otherwise, claiming that his contract player had waived such a notice. The battle would spill over into 1933. On the positive side, in addition to Movie Crazy 1932 provided Cummings with three other notable Hollywood movies: Washington Merry-Go-Round, American Madness, and Night After Night. 'Washington Merry-Go-Round...

Exodus: Gods And Kings—Movie Review
It isn’t easy tackling a famous Biblical story and competing with the memory of an enduring movie like Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments. All things considered, I think director Ridley Scott and his colleagues have done a creditable job. (Remember, he took on DeMille’s The Crusades with his formidably ambitious Kingdom of Heaven.) Exodus: Gods and Kings has many flaws but also real virtues, chief among them Christian Bale’s deeply-felt performance as Moses. The production values and locations add a great deal. But how you respond to the film overall will depend on your willingness to accept new, challenging, and in some cases nutty ideas. The screenplay (credited to...

Goddard: Much More Than a Chaplin Leading Lady
Paulette Goddard: An Ideal Husband and Paris Model on TCM Paulette Goddard height: Supposedly 5’4″. Paulette Goddard age: Well… Goddard would have turned 108 today. Or 103. Or 102. Or 98. It all depends on the source, though Goddard herself apparently — and not at all surprisingly — preferred the 1915 birth date, which would have made her 98 years old in 2013. Whether a centenarian or a nonagenarian, Paulette Goddard is Turner Classic Movies’ Star of the Day. TCM has already shown several Goddard movies, among them Charles Chaplin’s Modern Times and the Luise Rainer star vehicle Dramatic School, and it’s currently showing An Ideal Husband. (Picture: Paulette Goddard publicity shot, ca. 1940.) Made in England for London Films, An Ideal Husband (1947) was quite a prestigious production so as to justify the presence of a top Hollywood star in a British film. No less a figure than London Films founder Alexander Korda directed this movie adaptation of...

Judy Lewis Dies: Loretta Young/Clark Gable Out-of-Wedlock Daughter
Clark Gable, Loretta Young, The Call of the Wild Judy Lewis, out-of-wedlock daughter of Loretta Young and Clark Gable, died of cancer on Friday, Nov. 25, at a retirement home in the Philadelphia suburb of Gladwyne. She was 76. Young, who was an ardent Catholic, and Gable, then married to Maria Franklin Langham (17 years his senior) had an affair while starring in William A. Wellman's 1935 adventure drama The Call of the Wild. Young had just turned 22, Gable was 34. In a manner similar to the absurd stories of so many Hollywood melodramas of the period, after learning of her pregnancy Young took off for Europe. Upon her return months later, she was reported ill and convalescing at a hospital in the Los Angeles suburb of Venice, where Judy was born Nov. 6, 1935. When the girl was almost two, Young officially adopted her (and a boy, later returned) from an orphanage in San Francisco.
