During the song "Keep On Doing What You're Doing", Dorothy Lee is dropped on her back. Although she carries on, and finishes the number, the injury to her spine left her in pain for the rest of her life.
Songwriters Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby wrote "Keep Doin' What You're Doin'" as a duet for Zeppo Marx and Raquel Torres in Soupe au canard (1933). When the number was cut from that picture, they recycled it in 'Hips, Hips, Hooray."
Ruth Etting is given third billing in this film despite singing one song at the beginning of the film (comprising about 3 minutes of screen time). Etting filmed two numbers for the film, but only one survives in the prints.
