inconsequential film of a dated book.

Given that this film was only made around 20 years after the book was written it is telling that it was only 60 minutes in length, now 54,so clearly it was never meant to be anything more than a supporting feature and probably given the virtbyually unknown cast,a quota quickie. It rather reminds me of Hi De Hi,in trying to get as many laughs as possible our of people falling in the water. It is interesting to note the poor reviews for the third remake in 1956,with a far more illustrious case, which rather goes to show that it was virtually out of date once it had been written.Incidentally I think the previous reviewer made a mistake about the Ealing Rareities series in which this is featured. The series is devoted to films made at Ealing Studios,in this instance by AssociTed Talking Pictures, which was managed by the universally disliked Basil Dean.

Poor version of famous book.

I am adding reviews for all films I've seen that so far lack one, here is my brief review of this one... Based on a famous book, which must be better than this feeble effort? As three friends, each as stupid as the others, and a dog take a boating holiday on the Thames, it's thankfully short, but poor. At present this title lacks even the 5 votes to get a rating, this may change as it is included in the 'Ealing Studio Rarities Collection Vol #12' which oddly has not a single Ealing Studio production, the films were made at the studio by other companies, I will be interested to see if anyone writes a positive review of this title.

Absolutely dire

I cannot believe there was ever such a bad film as this. Meant to be a comedy but I did not laugh once and the acting was abysmal. Even when it was released people leaving the cinema must have felt cheated out of their 1/6d or whatever it was then.
