First Daughter Ivanka Trump marked Equal Pay Day on Tuesday with a tweet urging Americans to work together to “close the gender pay gap.”
It was not lost on critics, however, that Ivanka’s father, President Donald Trump, just last week rolled back Obama-era protections for women in the workplace.
In light of that, many took to Twitter to slam Ivanka’s tweet as “hollow” and “hypocritical.”
Charged one Twitter user: “Tell that to your father. He doesn’t believe in raising the minimum wage, is anti-union, & we all know how he feels about women’s bodies.”
Here are some of the other reactions.

It’s 2017 — but women still make just 80 cents to a man’s dollar.
And for some women, it’s even worse: While non-Hispanic white women make 83 centers for every dollar, Black women make just 66 cents, and Hispanic women even lower than that, at 60 cents, according to a 2016 study.
Since 1996, we’ve been recognizing this inequality with Equal Pay Day, April 4. The day is meant to mark how far into a year the average American woman would have to work to make what a male colleague made in the previous year.
And for Hollywood and Washington, it’s a day to speak out on the cause.

According to Indie Revolver, Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” will open two days early on 35mm and 70mm. It’s time for another update from our friends at Arrow Video, this time previewing their March 2012 releases which encompass sleazy horror, cult British action movies and gory, cheesy sci-fi… The highlight for me in March’s releases? Definitely has to be Don’t Go In The House.
Who Dares Wins (Arrow Video)
The 60 Second War Begins Now! Paranoia, black ops and espionage combine in Who Dares Wins, a violent and edgy anti-terror classic starring Lewis Collins (The Professionals) and Edward Woodward (The Equalizer). The anti-nuclear movement is plotting a bloody outrage on British soil and, having already fatally lost their undercover operative at a violent protest, the secret services call on the aid of the Sas. Captain Peter Skellen (Collins) risks his career, his family and his life to infiltrate the terrorist group before they can unleash an attack that will devastate the country. Relive a classic cold war...

Enid Bennett, Douglas Fairbanks, Robin Hood Long before Errol Flynn, Russell Crowe, and Kevin Costner — and their Men in Tights — there was Douglas Fairbanks and his Men in Tights. Robin Hood, aka Douglas Fairbanks in Robin Hood will be screening tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The Robin Hood screening is part of the Academy's "Summer of Silents" series, which features winners of the Photoplay Medal of Honor for Best Picture of the year, as chosen by the magazine's readership. In the case of Robin Hood, the year was 1922. Financed by Douglas Fairbanks himself, Robin Hood was the actor-producer's biggest box-office hit. Though hardly on a par with the Errol Flynn version of the legend, this Allan Dwan-directed historical romp looks appropriately grandiose; as explained in Jeffrey Vance's Douglas Fairbanks, the film's sets were...

This past May, the Criterion Collection e-mail newsletter announced that Janus Films had acquired the rights to distribute the works of Charlie Chaplin theatrically. We all celebrated in the notion that we would be able to hopefully see new clean prints of his incredible body of work, as well as the idea that these titles would inevitably make their way into the Criterion Collection.
Whether these titles would be available individually, in box sets (either in Criterion proper, or in the Eclipse Series), or some combination of the two, we still have not heard a definitive statement from Criterion. It is highly likely that we’ll get an announcement for either November or December, as many would love a complete Charlie Chaplin box set to find it’s way onto their holiday wish list.

In the May e-mail newsletter from Criterion, they announced that Janus had acquired the rights to the entire Charlie Chaplin catalog, causing cinephiles everywhere to collectively hold their breath at the prospect of adding the film legend into the Collection.
On June 19th, the American Cinematheque will be screening The Gold Rush along with several other Chaplin short films, courtesy of Janus Films. This past week, we saw another piece of Chaplin news, in that the film A Thief Catcher was discovered in an Antique Sale. The film features an extended cameo from Chaplin. It is unknown at this point where the rights to this film lie, and it is doubtful that it is part of the licensing deal that Janus has with the Chaplin catalog. A Thief Catcher represents the 82 film in his official filmography, which spanned from 1914 through 1967.

Kendra Wilkinson's Big Pay Day: Reality starlet Kendra Wilkinson might have tried to stop the release of her sex tape, but the digits on her reported first check might take the sting out her little PR fiasco. According to Radar Online, she will receive $680,000, plus 50 percent of the tape's sales. Kendra will reportedly get her first payment this week. We'd like to suggest using some of that for a vacation on a remote island, but we can't help but think that our reality starlet might actually love the press!?

Actor, Coby Bell, will be joining the cast of Burn Notice this upcoming season and his casting sheds some interesting light on the direction it will be headed in its fourth season. Those who read my finale review of the series, know that I am very much interested in how the writers will bring something new to table as soldier of fortune, Michael Westen, keeps his investigation going into who is “truly” behind his “burn notice” and why every obstacle in the world is keeping him from returning to his life as a spy.
Enter, Bell, who will be playing, Jesse Garcia, a chameleonic counterintelligence expert who can blend into various cover identities at the drop of a hat. Sounds alot like the popular Chris O’Donnell character, Callen, who has the same skill set. It seem’s as if Garcia’s career also ended mysteriously and he comes to...

USA’s hit series about a burned spy, Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), in Miami reaches an interesting culmination in its third season finale. I warn you now, if you have not been watching the series to this point then please wait to read this review.
Over the past two seasons Micheal has come closer and closer to discovering who had him burned only to hot hiccups such as walking right into the wall that is a covert mercenary organization known as “Management”. This group had been protecting Michael Westen during his burn by keeping his enemies at bay. Not interested in the line of work Management wants him for, this season has revolved around the fallout of that decision, not having any protection and now showing up in every law enforcement database making it increasingly difficult to investigate who had him burned.
Westen still helping the little guy, taking side missions,...

Over the past few months and even the last year there has been lots of trouble surrounding the next Spider-Man film. Just days before production was supposed to begin it turns out that Raimi was still unhappy with the script. Now Sony Pictures has just announced that plans for Spider-Man 4 have been scrapped and the studio is moving forward on a complete reboot of the entire franchise. We had heard that Sony was keen on a reboot after Spider-man 4 was going to be made.
Here’s the studio’s press release below.
Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios announced today they are moving forward with a film based on a script by James Vanderbilt that focuses on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises.
The new chapter in the Spider-Man franchise produced by Columbia, Marvel Studios and Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will have...

Rumor has it…
got to love that game as it just one of those things about the online world. Sony is denying an internet rumor that Spiderman 4 is being put on hold once again. MTV has the report saying that the studio is announcing “Not so”. A source close to MTV News told them as well, that, while production is indeed on hiatus, it’s a planned break for the holidays (as most studios take around this time of year), with production expected to resume early next year. The source told MTV News that work is still underway on the script, which is standard operating procedure for any film right up to the point when principal photography begins.
IESB.net reported that production on Spider-Man 4 had been put on hold as the studio and director, Sam Raimi is at odds over who should be the villain in the film.

...this moment in Modern Times is near perfection. For those that don't know what's going on in the scene, he had the lyrics to the song he was supposed to sing on his cuffs, which you will notice fly off almost immediately. One thing interesting about the song Chaplin sings is that it is the first time you hear the Tramp's voice as he sings "Je cherche apres Titine" in French/Italian gibberish but his actions lead the audience to understand what he is supposed to be singing about entirely. If you are yet to familiarize yourself with Chaplin or are looking for a refresher course on April 16 TCM is set to run 10 Chaplin films in a row including Tillie's Punctured Romance (1914), A Dog's Life (1918), A Day's Pleasure (1919), The Kid (1921), Pay Day (1922), A Woman of Paris (1923), The Gold Rush (1925), Modern Times (1936), The Great Dictator (1940), A King in New York (1957) and...
