Accustomed to flirting and dropping every suitor at her feet, Cora Madison - a young woman belonging to one of the most prominent families in the city - collides with Valentine Corliss, a newcomer.

In a typical American small town lived a man and wife who had two daughters and a younger son. One of the girls was a born flirt, and her trifling disposition was the bane of her brother's young life. The other sister was of the self-sacrificing type not at all uncommon in American families. Three men of the town have fallen victims to the flirt, but show their grief in different ways. One takes to drink, another is reconciled and a third clings with despairing hope to his suit. Comes to the town an adventurer, who seeks to finance his swindling schemes. The flirt's father is the leading representative of integrity in the community. To secure her father's influence, the swindler works through the weakness of the flirtatious daughter. Her egotism leads her to further his swindling schemes. Meanwhile there is an inner-plot involving the self-sacrificing sister in her deep love for one of the flirt's victims. The mischievous brother takes matters into his own hands and the methods he employs in his attempt to set things right according to his own ideas, involves almost everybody in the village in some highly exciting episodes.—Moving Picture World synopsis
