Ted Lasso: When They Slayed With An Iconic Christmas Day Episode
Image
Looking Back At Ted Lasso’s Christmas Day Episode ( Photo Credit – Prime Video )

In Ted Lasso season 2, Apple TV+ gave the writers two extra episodes to play with, and they gifted us this standalone Christmas gem. Packed with holiday cheer, quirky traditions, and heartfelt moments, it didn’t push the plot much but gave the characters room to shine.

The episode oozed the feel-good charm that makes the show unique, from Ted’s festive chaos to the team’s cozy celebrations. It’s the kind of TV magic we’re losing in today’s streaming-obsessed world, and that’s a real Christmas bummer.

How Carol of the Bells Skipped the Plot for Christmas Cheer?

Ted Lasso’s “Carol of the Bells” isn’t about winning matches; it’s about winning hearts, and it does that in spades with 30 minutes of pure Christmas joy. Forget plot twists; this episode is all about vibes.

Andrea Fay Friedman, the actor with Down syndrome who costarred for two seasons in the early 1990s on ABC’s groundbreaking drama series Life Goes On, died Sunday, Dec. 3, at her Santa Monica home of complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 53.

Her death was announced to The New York Times by her father, the entertainment lawyer Hal Friedman.

Friedman joined the cast of Life Goes On in 1992, portraying Amanda Swanson, a college student with Down syndrome who dates, and later elopes with, the show’s main character Charles “Corky” Thatcher (Chris Burke), who also has Down syndrome. Both the series and Friedman’s storyline were revolutionary in both casting and fully-rounded depictions of people with the syndrome.

A college student herself at the time, Friedman had been working at...

Kermit and Miss Piggy will make their broadcast booth debut at the top of the show, with Fozzie Bear reporting from the field and Animal, naturally, on drums. Right before kickoff of the Steelers and Bengals matchup, the Muppets characters will appear in a “Carol of the Bells” music video.

Why Holiday Movies Should Be Inclusive of People With Disabilities (Guest Column)
Image
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to alter people’s holiday celebrations, many people are finding that watching holiday films is one tradition that can continue. While there has been no meaningful change in the percentage of speaking characters with disabilities in these top-grossing films in the past five years with just 2.3 percent of the 4,451 characters analyzed in the 100 top-grossing films of 2019 by the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism having a disability, several holiday films are bucking this trend. And for the one-in-four people in the U.S. who have a disability, that means there are more opportunities to see ourselves reflected on screen.

“Christmas Ever After”

A recent premiere on Lifetime, it stars Tony award winner Ali Stroker in the lead role of Izzi Simmons – becoming the network’s first lead actor with a disability. A writer, Simmons is having a severe case of writer’s block when...
