“Miss You, Siddharth’s Script Sense Slumps To An All-Time Low” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Is this some kind of a mid-career crisis? What has happened to Siddharth? Not too long ago, he was one of Tamil cinema bright spots. He chose his projects well, and he plunged into them judiciously.

Apart from Chittha all his recent films Mahasmudram, Takkar, Indian 2 have proven themselves boxoffice bummers.

Siddharth’s latest Miss You is an abomination. The writing is so ridiculous, I wonder what Siddharth was thinking while listening to the script. Or was he narrated one thing and did he shoot another? No rational actor would plunge into this trainwreck knowingly.

Every dramatic punctuation in the storytelling lands with a thud. I would hate to subject anyone to this experience unless he or she is keen to suffer for sins committed in the past life.

The film casts Siddharth, surprisingly lacklustre but then maybe not so surprisingly considering the script is a witless mess, as Vasu...

Siddharth’s ‘Chithha’ teaser promises an intense and emotional film
Image
Actor Siddharth, who is known for his versatile roles in films like Rang De Basanti, Jigarthanda, and Aval, is back with a new film titled ‘Chithha’. The film is directed by Su Arun Kumar, who has previously helmed critically acclaimed films like Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi. The teaser of the film was released on Saturday by veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who is also Siddharth’s co-star in the upcoming Indian 2.

The teaser of ‘Chithha’ gives a glimpse of the plot, which revolves around the relationship between a little girl and her chithappa (paternal uncle), played by Siddharth. The film is said to be a relationship drama that turns into a thriller, as the uncle and niece face some unexpected challenges. The teaser shows Siddharth in a new and rustic look, sporting a beard and a lungi. He is seen as a caring and protective uncle, who shares a strong bond with his niece.

Takkar review: This road movie fails despite having all the regular ingredients
Image
ReviewTakkar is a typical road movie with all the usual ingredients — a car drive on a highway, intimacy in a motel, the protagonist going through a crisis, and a self-discovery. The entry of Gunasekar, played by actor Siddharth, in filmmaker Karthik G Krish’s Takkar reminds one of the stylish and memorable introduction of Madhavan in Alaipayuthey. Except, the staging in Takkar is intended to be funny. Gunasekar regrets being born into a poor family, and his ultimate goal is to become rich. He tries his hand at numerous jobs but does not compromise on self-respect, losing many opportunities in the process. Whether or not his perspective will change after a journey with Lakshmi (Divyansha Kaushik) forms the plot of the story. Takkar is a typical road movie with all the regular ingredients — a car drive on a highway, intimacy in a motel, the protagonist going through a crisis, and a self-discovery.
