I came across this via Netflix and being the movie masochist I am I foolishly ventured in despite my belief that France simply cannot do horror.
You know the drill, a paranormal investigator goes somewhere and bad stuff happens. On this occasion it's not a team but one person and he's following a young man whose behavior shifted after participating in a Ouija session.
Not found footage but mostly done through fixed cams and with lots of night vision (Most of it pink for some reason) it certainly looks like it had some money behind it but alas they couldn't pay for competent writers.
Now at first after heading onto IMDB I couldn't find the film and was ready to add it myself. Eventually I located it only to discover a bare bones page which demonstrates just how much the creators cared about their creation. The name, a poster and that's basically it. The IMDB community clearly recognized this and not only does it have a poor rating but only 8 people had bothered to watch it.
This boys and girls is what NOT to do when your a movie maker, if you don't care about your film why should others?
Back to the film as I said the writing here is flawed, partially a weak script and partially because they had absolutely nothing to work with. It's as unoriginal as movies get, you'll have seen it all before and it's the absolute pits.
Hop, skip and jump over this generic possession mess.
The Good:
Nope
The Bad:
Pink night vision is just senseless
Devoid of originality

With the least original movie title of the decade this is yet another of the very same boring investigation type movie where absolutely nothing happens. Nightvision, screaming, religious hysteria and lots and lots of nothing.

Ridiculous plot, horrendous acting, cheap special effects. Did I miss anything? The lead actor looks like he will collapse any moment from lack of nourishment. Get some meat on those bones, boy!
Perhaps if they had developed the characters from the Ouija board opening scene, the movie might have been a little interesting.
Bottom line: It is a bargain basement 'The Exorcist' and deserves to remain in the basement.

Really slow, with a scant plot that has been done many times before. Brings nothing new to the table.

I had 2 hours with absolutely nothing to do...................at first, thought this was going to be another lame Blair Witch Project, but from France. Well to my surprise............it was!! Total crap. Do producers actually waste their money doing these? Really? So lame and so many mistakes. Why was most of Dylan's words not translated and put onscreen? So he just happened to have that nice freshly pressed officer's uniform waiting for him in his closet for this special night? Makeup was like for a Halloween costume. Why was the priest not wanting to meet the parents? Don't know......they didn't explain. And the typical ending for a totally made up movie story.... In the entire movie he had his camera rolling WITH him....but at the end....he leaves it outside on the step pointing at the door........did you guess what was going to happen??? ELEMENTARY!!!! Waste of time totally. Piece of crap. BOOO!!

Nothing new there. Well... There is something, when I think a bit more: a genuine sense of authenticity. You believe it is actually happening, for real. The characters are engaging and the acting is very good.
That is obviously the reason I watched it till the end, which I found less believable (how did Andreï succeed in finding such information so so quickly and easily?
And the final scene was utterly predictable, therefore disappponting. That is why three stars are missing...

To be honest, I went into watching Paranormal Investigation with very low expectations, especially after reading reviews on here. I've come out of it though, with the unpopular opinion that this film isn't actually bad. It's not great, but I did think it was an interesting watch, and for the most part, the acting by those that played the parents and son was done really well. I'd probably only recommend this film to those who are fans of the found footage genre; if that's you, then I believe it's worth a watch.

Many amateur and wannabe filmmakers these days are making possession movies and movies based on the found footage premise; this melds the two together in a "sandwich au merde". Some of them are okay, most are bad, some are awful. This one's awful. It takes the basic premises of "The Exorcist" and "Paranormal Activity", removes all of what made those movies good, and retains the leftovers. This one has every cliché of a film in its genre, except it executes them in a way which leaves you frustrated as hell, and swearing like an angry Frenchman.

Found on Netflix. Went into the movie hoping to see some twist on the usual paranormal investigation type mockumentary film, but was sorely disappointed. The plot lacked in setting up the mood and general scary feel, as well as had major plot holes leaving me dumbfounded at the end of movie-and not in a good way.
If you're looking for a good horror movie, do not look to Paranormal Investigation.

There was nothing remotely scary about this film. Yes, low budget, even a blockbuster budget couldn't save this movie. The acting was wooden and silly as was the action of the characters. Pink night vision? Still trying to figure out the whys for that choice. I fell asleep halfway through (I didnt have nightmares) tried to finish watching after rereading the "glorious all posted on the same day 10 star reviews " nudge, nudge, wink wink. Waiting for anything to happen. No. You dont need millions of dollars in special effects to make a great horror film. You do need a good scrip, believable actors, a director and halfway decent photography. this failed on all levels. Skip it unless you're having sleep issues. you'll fall asleep quickly.
There are some good low budget films out there, but this is just a cheap bad movie.
The scenario is empty, it doesn't make sense and none of the characters are interesting. The way it's filmed is just a copy of Paranormal Activity (but no, now the night vision is pink !). It's slow and the only moment where I actually wanted to see what was happening, the camera wasn't filming the action.
How did this succeed to join Netflix is beyond me, I except this kind of a awful movie to the deepest part of Amazon Prime.

Storyline was not original so you could almost guess the outcome. Nice to have seen it once, but that's it

Nada. Don't waste your time with an investigator that fits the bar of a gigolo. Plot is weak, acting is beyond repulsive.😆
I chose not to take this too seriously and I found myself glued to the screen. It could be because I ghost hunt as I agree there are better movies out there. Still, if you're bored I feel it's worth a shot.

I deplore critiquing for what it does to critics. They lose themselves as an individual and the ability to simply observe, departs them.
That is why I don't read critic reviews before watching a movie any more.
The nonstop focus of the acting, creates a sense of a real life experience. You are able to feel the real life concern of Dylan's parents and the investigator.
It will leave you wanting more and questioning whether it's a true story.

This is just another excorsism based film that follows the exact same cliche formula like any other film of this genre . On top of that, in this film , Andrei , for some reason, delays the excorsism for long hence unnecessarily extending the running length when it could be ended in just 1hr 20 mins.
Some parts were genuinely interesting but that's it! The possessed Dylan goes on doing nonsense for nights after nights and Andrei just keeps observing and we as audience get bored after some time, knowing that what's coming . Still i would say the ending is not what everyone predicted it would be.
The most important part of such films, the excorsism part is so terribly shot. Multiple cuts and edits completely kill the excitement of that sequence. In one scene the father is excorsing Dylan and cut to the next scene...Andrei is shown running in to find the Father lying on the floor ! Bruh how did it happen? Show us for god's sake!! No, they don't. In the very next scene, the weakened father is rested on the couch by Andrei and seeing Dylan pop up suddenly, the Father gets up like a horse and uses his methods to fight Dylan back ! Bruh...wasn't he weakened??? Didn't he need rest?? How come he's back on his feet like a horse??? This was the worst part of the film.
In some parts , the film just wastes it's time by showing Dylan shout out loud "Andrei ! Andrei !" Only the final part was a bit interesting.
Overall, a very okayish one time watch or just skip it ... there are better films in this category.
