Chicago Fire reveals whether Sam Carver will return for season 13 finale
Image
We thought Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) was going to dominate the final stretch of Chicago Fire season 13. The character isn't coming back in season 14, so we assumed the writers would make a point of utilizing him as much as possible while he was still around. It turns out, the opposite has been true. Carver has missed several episodes in the last month of the season, leading us to question if he has already left.

Carver entered a rehab clinic earlier in the season, and returned in the episode "Post Mortem." He got even more screen time in the episode that followed, "Permanent Damage," but he's been increasingly harder to spot since. The character was completely absent from "Cut Me Open" and the penultimate episode of the season, "The Bad Guy."

Pascal's backstory has us convinced he's leaving Chicago Fire in season 13 finale
Image
Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) did not end the penultimate episode of Chicago Fire season 13 on a high note. The 51 chief was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) was tasked with clearing his name. Whether or not Severide will be successful remains to be seen, but we think Pascal will be done at 51 regardless of the legal outcome.

"The Bad Guy" was an important episode in multiple regards. It laid the groundwork for the finale, and allowed Severide to wield arson investigation skills that have been tucked away for the majority of the season. The biggest takeaway of the episode, however, was Pascal's backstory. We were introduced to the character as someone with a controversial reputation in Miami, but we got through almost the entire season without an explanation as to why. "The Bad Guy" finally gave us the answer.

Pascal used to work for a man named Hendricks,...

Chicago Fire promo frames Pascal as "bad guy" after shocking criminal act
Image
Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) hit a personal and professional low point when his wife Monica (KaDee Strickland) was killed in Chicago Fire season 13. The character spiraled, looking for someone to blame, and acted recklessly on the job despite the consequences it had on his safety and career. We thought the worst was behind him, but the promo for "The Bad Guy" suggests otherwise.

The episode title definitely caught our eye when we first glimpsed it, but we did not expect Pascal to be the one positioned as the titular character. The promo shows that the man responsible for causing the car accident that took Monica Pascal's life gets caught up in another freak accident. Or at least, it resembles a freak accident.

Pascal is prime suspect in attempted murder

It turns out, the fuel line on the man's car had been cut, and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) discovers a...

This controversial Chicago Fire character won't be returning for season 14 (here's why)
Image
Chicago Fire has no problem pulling the rug out from under its fans and writing characters off the show at a moment's notice. It can be disappointing when it's one of the characters we've come to know and love over an extended period of time, but sometimes external factors come into play. Lt. Wendy Seager is one such example.

Seager, played by Andy Allo, debuted in season 8 and was a semi-consistent presence through season 11. The character has not been seen since the episode "Acting Up," however, and we are confident that she will not be returning in the near future. Why? Well, because Allo continues to be cast in other television properties.

TV Line confirmed the actress will be joining the cast of the upcoming series The Eagles of Newark.

These Chicago Fire characters should be leaving 51 instead of Carver (here's why)
Image
Chicago Fire has decided to show Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) the door. The character has grown steadily in popularity over the last three seasons, but now, he only has three episodes left to wrap up his story. It's a tough decision, and one we feel like could have been avoided given how integral he's become to the show.

In a perfect world, we would not cut any Chicago Fire characters from the show. They all bring something unique and exciting to the table. But that is not the world we live in, and decided to put ourselves in the tough decision of making a cut. And here are two of the people who could have taken Carver's place on the chopping block. Not an endorsement, but we think we have pretty good cases.

Jack Damon had a natural end point in "Post Mortem" Chicago Fire -- "Post-Mortem" Episode 13018 --...

Chicago Fire softened the blow of upcoming exits by bringing this character back
Image
We're not happy that Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) are leaving. They have become fan favorites and developed strong bonds with virtually every other member of Firehouse 51. Themselves included. And yet, they are being written out of the show before the next season.

It's never a good time to hear news that two of your favorite characters are leaving a show, but the timing of this particular announcement was rough. It coincided with the episode "Post Mortem," in which we were told that another firefighter, Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) was critically injured in a building collapse and may never be able to serve 51 again.

Chicago Fire season 13 episode 19 recap: Violet and Carver reunite for deadly case
Image
Chicago Fire picked up right where it left off with "Post Mortem." The dramatic episode concluded with Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) suffering serious lung damage on the job, and being told that he may never be able to fight fires again. The episode "Permanent Damage" explores the paranoia and fear that Damon has about his condition.

Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) paid his half-brother a visit, and urged him to be optimistic when it comes to his recovery. Damon's future depends on whether he can pass certain tests, and the 51 vereran told him that he's seen several firefighters recover without any difficulty. Severide is riding solo this episode, as Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is attending a training course in Maryland.

Kidd may be absent, but her departure proves to have ripple effects throughout the rest of the episode. Severide noticed a girl named Natalie walking around the firehouse, and recalls...

Chicago Fire could look like a radically different show in season 14 (here's why)
Image
The people who make Chicago Fire know what they're doing. There's a reason the show has been a ratings juggernaut on NBC for over a decade, and why it has spawned an entire franchise. But we are at an influx point in the show's history, and the more we learn about a potential season 14, the more we suspect that the show will look radically different moving forward.

The most obvious reason why Chicago Fire will look and feel different in season 14 (which has yet to be officially confirmed by NBC) is the departure of 51 characters Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). They have been around for seven seasons and three seasons, respectively, and they occupied crucial roles within the firehouse.

4 ways Chicago Fire could write Sam Carver off the show before season 14
Image
Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), we hardly knew ye. It has been confirmed that the character will not be returning to Chicago Fire if the series gets picked up for an additional season. We know you're upset, and so are we. Carver brought an intensity and energy to Chicago Fire in his three seasons, and while he'd been suffering from personal issues in recent episodes, it seemed likely that he would bounce back and become a Firehouse 51 veteran.

Unfortunately, this will not be the case. Carver has a handful of episodes left, and as such, we are going to roll out a few different theories on how the Chicago Fire writing team could get rid of the character. We favor some of these theories over others, but we cannot rule any of them out since there's no time to set up a long term exit storyline.

Carver relapses and checks back...

Chicago Fire boss promises big changes for Stellaride family ahead of season 13 finale
Image
Chicago Fire has been spreading the narrative focus over the last few episodes. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) have been involved, but their personal lives have taken a backseat to workplace drama. Understandably so, given the severity of recent incidents.

It's nice to see Severide and Kidd working through difficult workplace situations together, but the last time we really weighed in on their personal lives, there was a lot going on. The couple had decided to adopt a child, and were subsequently approved for adoption (after what we theorize was an assist by Joe Minoso's Cruz). There's been little progress on the adoption storyline in recent episodes, but all that is going to change during season 13's final stretch.

Will other One Chicago shows lose series regulars like Chicago Fire?
Image
Could we be seeing more cast departures on the One Chicago shows and why? Negotiations for new seasons continue to happen at NBC.

One Chicago fans have so many things to love about the series and the best is the large ensemble casts. Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago Pd all boast a bevy of great actors who will get the spotlight at times while also filling out a great drama.

Obviously, there have been a lot of cast departures over the years for all three shows. Still, fans were thrown by word that both Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) will not be returning to Chicago Fire when season 14 airs next year.

On top of that, Chicago Fire season 13 episode 18 (Spoiler alert) had Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) badly injured in a fire and the hint that his career may be over. There’s still a chance the character stays on,...

Chicago Fire has already ruined Carver and Violet's upcoming reunion (here's why)
Image
"Post Mortem" was an excellent Chicago Fire episode. It was unique, the storytelling was tense, and the performances by the series leads were all strong. There was a lot going on, so the return of one Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) was overshadowed. The promo for the next episode confirms that we will be getting the Carver and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) reunion that we've been waiting on, but it has a feeling of squandered potential on the heels of recent casting news.

The promo sees Violet and Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) take center stage after missing the events of "Post Mortem." The latter notices that a medic has been improperly taking care of patients, and is desperate to locate the perpetrator before someone loses their lives. She enlists Carver for help, leading to a tense moment where the duo confront a civilian with a shotgun.

Carver's return coincides with his exit announcement

Chicago Fire continues to fuel rivalry between Chief Pascal and this 51 veteran
Image
We were fully expecting heads to roll in Chicago Fire's latest episode, "Post Mortem." An accident occurred on the job, and Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) returned to determine who was at fault. It was a tense affair, and one that ultimately led to Firehouse 51 being cleared of any wrongdoing. The aforementioned accident did, however, bolster a rivalry we've gradually seen more of in season 13.

Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) has repeatedly been questioned and challenged by Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), and it felt as though this conflict came to a head in "Post Mortem." It was Pascal who ordered an evacuation after a house fire spiraled out of control. It was later revealed that Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) was left behind, and nearly died as a result of his injuries.

Chicago Fire's shocking cast exits could be the start of an unsettling trend (here's how)
Image
Chicago Fire decided to fold bombshell news into the scheduling of its April 16 episode "Post Mortem." The series confirmed that Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett will be leaving the show after season 13 just as the episode was airing on NBC. It was a bitter pill to swallow, especially since viewers were forced to watch another firefighter's life hang in the balance.

Daniel Kyri has played Darren Ritter on Chicago Fire for seven seasons, and Jake Lockett has played Sam Carver for three. They have both become fan favorites, and the latter is even involved in one of the show's most notable on again/off again romances. We were completely taken aback by the news, as most fans were, but we're sorry to report that the actors may not be alone in being written off the firefighting drama.

The absence of two characters made Chicago Fire's exit bombshells even worse
Image
Chicago Fire did not pull its punches on Wednesday, April 16. The series revealed devastating news regarding its cast of characters, both onscreen and off. Onscreen, the episode "Post Mortem" had the near death of Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) during a building fire. Then, offscreen, NBC confirmed that two characters, Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) will be leaving.

The details makes these revelations even worse. Damon suffered lung damage, and may never be able to fight fires again. Ritter and Carver are poised to exit before or during the season 13 finale. And the characters that all of them are closest to just happened to be absent during "Post Mortem." It was a case of awful timing.

Chicago Fire might've just ended this character's career and we don't understand why
Image
Chicago Fire went into the episode "Post Mortem" promising blood. It was heavily implied that 51 would be losing one of their own after a tragic accident occurs on the job. And it did, albeit, not in the way we expected. Nobody died in "Post Mortem," contrary to its title. But we did see Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) nearly die after a building collapse left him with internal bleeding.

Damon's identity is kept a secret for the majority of the episode, and even when its confirmed that he was the firefighter who sparked the entire 51 investigation, there's uncertainty as to whether he will survive. Thankfully, he pulls through, and gets through his surgery intact. It's possible that Damon will never put out another fire. Which leads us to ask: what has the point of his entire season 13 arc been?

Chicago Fire season 13, episode 18 recap and review: A dangerous situation turns deadly
Image
In an intense episode, we were left until the end to find out who was in the hospital. What happened in the housefire in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 18?

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Chicago Fire season 13, episode 18.

We knew if Boden returned to look into the events of a fire, it was going to be a big and deadly one. Sure enough, Boden was there on orders by the Commissioner, and he needed to figure out the mistake that Firehouse 51 made that put one of their own in the hospital.

Pascal, Herrmann, Severide, and Kidd all gave their reports, running through the events of the entire night. At first, they had to do their individual reports, and as they pretty much matched up, Boden had to figure out what happened. How did Herrmann get his math wrong? Was there more time to deal with the fire? Well, Boden managed to work it out.

Chicago Fire season 13 episode 18 recap: Boden investigates a tragic 51 loss
Image
Chicago Fire really built up anticipation for "Post Mortem." The episode was heavily promoted by showrunner Andrea Newman and returning star Eamonn Walker, who hadn't appeared on the show since the season 12 finale. "Post Mortem" was anything but a warm reunion, however. The episode delivered on the chaos promised in the tense promo, and marked a seismic shift for Firehouse 51.

Here's what you need to know about "Post Mortem," aka the most important episode of Chicago Fire season 13. Spoilers Ahead.

It's rare to see the level of intrigue and mystery that we get in the opening scene. Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) is shown watching a news broadcast in a waiting room. The news explains that a firefighter was severely injured in a burning house. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) eventually show up, and Herrmann wonders aloud how a firefighter could have been left behind. "We cleared that house,...

Violet and Novak aren't in Chicago Fire season 13 episode 18 (and here's the reason why)
Image
Chicago Fire season 13 episode 18 might bring about the returns of two familiar faces, but amid Boden and Carver’s return to 51, you might notice there are two other beloved characters missing in action in the episode, “Post-Mortem.”

We’re referring to Hanako Greensmith's Violet and Jocelyn Hudon's Novak, who both surprisingly do not appear in the latest episode. So what were 51’s two paramedics up to that kept their characters from appearing in the latest episode of season 13? Well, it seems they were pulled away to help out at another firehouse in the district.

As Stella helps to welcome Carver back after his time away from 51 in rehab, she reveals via a quick one-off comment that Violet and Novak are not on shift at 51 as they were reassigned to Firehouse 90 for the episode.

"We are happy to have you back in rotation," Stella told Carver. "Violet and Novak are bummed to miss you,...

“Once a Part of the Family, Always Part of the Family:” ’Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker Is Open to an Extended Return
Image
Wallace Boden has only been gone from Chicago Fire for less than a season, but the fan-favorite character has been sorely missed since his departure in the Season 12 finale. While Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) has stepped into Boden’s former role, many fans feel he hasn’t quite filled the void left by the beloved former chief. Thankfully, Boden will return in tonight's episode, Season 13, Episode 18 "Post Mortem," with Eamonn Walker returning to reprise the role. While the fans will appreciate this return, the longing for more Boden remains, with some fans wishing his return could be more permanent rather than a single-episode guest appearance. Those fans will be pleased to learn that Walker is open to featuring in the show for as much as the producers want him.

This Chicago Fire star has us doubting that Herrmann will ever become 51 Chief
Image
Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) was the chosen one. He was the veteran who was pegged by Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) to replace him as Chief in Chicago Fire's season 12 finale. It made sense on paper. Herrmann is a good worker, well-liked by all, and he knows what it means to put ones life on the line on a regular basis.

Herrmann didn't have the credentials or the know how when the Boden conversation occurred, hence the arrival of Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), but it seemed like it was only a matter of time until he put the pieces together and showed himself to be ready for this increased responsibility. Or so we thought. Because as of right now, we doubt Herrmann will ever lead Firehouse 51.

4 Chicago Fire characters who could be leaving the show in the episode "Post Mortem"
Image
Chicago Fire is gearing up for the biggest episode of season 13 thus far. The way the episode "Post Mortem" has been hyped by actors and producers, you'd think it was a season finale. A character will be caught in the rubble of a collapsed building, and may very well die as a result of their injuries.

To make matters even worse, Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) is coming in to investigate what went wrong, and all signs point to the former 51 Chief firing whoever he deems responsible for the tragedy. That's potentially two Chicago Fire characters gone in the span of a single episode. Naturally, we have some thoughts.

We don't know who will end up going down in "Post Mortem," but these are the most likely candidates based on the context of season 13.

“Not Everybody Wants That”: ’Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker Teases Boden’s Reaction To Herrmann’s Hesitance To Become Chief
Image
When Boden (Eamonn Walker) returns to Chicago Fire, things will be a little different than he left them. For one, there is a new chief who took over from him. However, Boden had blessed longtime Firehouse 51 member Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) as his successor should the latter choose to pursue that path. After trying, Herrmann was not convinced this was his path and the new chief noticed Herrmann's desire to withdraw from pursuing the position. "That same thing that Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) picks up on will be a discovery for Boden within this episode, I can give you that. But there’s no resolve to it, because growth is painful, and you don’t just one day pass an exam and all of a sudden you know how to do the job," Walker told TV Line of Boden's realization that Herrmann might not be interested in the position.

"No, now you’ve got the paperwork,...

“It Was Not Easy”: ’Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker Reveals His Complicated Feelings About Returning in Season 13
Image
Wallace Boden became an anchor for Chicago Fire with his deep but soft voice and radio that he always carried. Eamonn Walker played the character for twelve seasons before departing in the final episodes of last season. The actor is set to guest star in a single episode airing on Wednesday, April 16, and according to him, coming back was complicated. "It was not easy," he told TV Line with a laugh. Being away for so long, the British actor had begun losing some of Boden's characteristics. Walker literally lost Boden's voice, and he had to work to get it back. "So the first week out, I had this [thought], 'How do I get Boden’s voice back?' So I called up Tanera Marshall, who is my voice coach in Chicago, and I was like, 'I need three days with you to get Boden’s voice back. I can work on the physicality later,...

Chicago Fire's upcoming episode is the most crucial hour of the season (here's why)
Image
Chicago Fire has had no shortage of eventful occurrances in season 13. The firefighting drama has subjected us to break ups, addiction issues, the death of loved ones and the adoption of children. It has run the gamut of emotions, as all good Chicago Fire seasons do. But the April 16 episode, titled "Post Mortem," is going to trump all of these plot points.

"Post Mortem" is going to dish out the most devastating revelations of the season over the course of its hour long runtime. The episode will hinge upon the return of Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), and the professional fallout that occurs when a firefighter gets left behind in a building collapse. Not only will the firefighter in question potentially lose their life, but someone will potentially lose their job.

“It’s a Very Heightened Specific Situation”: ’Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker Teases Fraught Dynamics When Boden Returns
Image
Boden's (Eamonn Walker) back, but it's not a happy occasion. In Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 18, "Post Mortem," the former Firehouse 51 chief returns to investigate a fire rescue that went south and left a firefighter fighting for his life. As a result, it won't be the happy and upbeat reunion other characters and viewers would have hoped for. "It’s a very heightened specific situation that they have to deal with now because the fallout from it is, potentially, terrible for the whole Chicago Fire Department," Wallace told TV Line when previewing his return to the procedural he starred in for twelve seasons. A lot of time will not have passed between the incident and Boden's review, which makes the occurrence fresh in the characters' minds. "Boden is on it, almost before the night is out. It’s only just happened. The firefighter has only just entered the hospital, they are...

Chicago Fire's latest revelation spells trouble for Carver and Violet's love story
Image
Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) has caught absolutely no breaks in Chicago Fire season 13. One could argue the character has had the roughest season of anyone not named Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), between his love life and his personal struggles. Still, there is hope for the fan favorite firefighter.

Carver is coming back in the anticipated episode "Post Mortem." An undoubtedly bleak title and story to return to, but we are eager to see how the firefighter acclimates nonetheless. He was keen to kick his drinking habit last we saw him, and 51 chatter during his absence confirmed that he had checked himself into a rehab facility. Carver's troubles are not behind him, however.

“He’s Coming Back With a Surprise”: ‘Chicago Fire’ Showrunner Teases Carver’s Season 13 Return
Image
Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) has been missing from Firehouse 51 in the past few Chicago Fire Season 13 episodes. After a rough start, Carver's mental health continued to deteriorate, and he decided to seek help. However, showrunner Andrea Newman revealed to TV Line, that "Carver will be back in the next few episodes,” adding "But he's coming back with a surprise." Newman remained reticent about the nature of the surprise, but Carver's surprises usually catch Violet (Hanako Greensmith) unaware and this might be another instance. The last time he returned with one was in the season premiere when he arrived from Texas with his highschool girlfriend, Tori.

Season 13 has been full of ups and downs for the character, with the downs outweighing the ups. "He’s definitely a little more conflicted this season. Everything in the past seasons, he’s been very like, 'Hey, this is where I’m at.' This season,...

Which One Chicago character is most likely to leave before the 2025-26 TV season?
Image
One Chicago has undergone lots of cast changes over the past two years. All three shows have seen the departure of centerpiece characters, and the arrival of newcomers who have done a spectacular job of keeping the momentum going. Nobody has been a bust, we can confidently say, but even if the fans love a certain character, that does not mean they are safe from getting written out.

We have seen Chicago Fire and Chicago Med characters leave the show in the same season in which they debut. It's always unexpected, given the time and effort put into setting them up, but it's a thing we've grown accustomed to, and should consider moving forward. Hence this article. There are many new characters who have undergone crises in the 2024-25 season, to the point where their future is uncertain. We decided to predict which of them will be shown the door before 2025-26 rolls around.

We were already worried about Chief Pascal, but this Chicago Fire star made it worse
Image
Eamonn Walker has really make a ruckus when it comes to his impending Chicago Fire return. The actor already had eyes on him, due to the fact that he hasn't appeared on the show in a year, but his recent Deadline interview has drummed up lots of excitement (and concern) about the episode "Post Mortem."

We knew Walker's character, Wallace Boden, would be all business coming back to Firehouse 51, and would be forced to contend with a dire situation, but the actor made it clear that the stakes are higher than we initially thought. Especially when it comes to the future of Chief Pascal (Dermot Mulroney).

We think we figured out who might die in upcoming Chicago Fire episode (here's how)
Image
Chicago Fire may have just suffered a devastating death in the form of Monica Pascal (KaDee Strickland), but the series is not through with fans. The upcoming episode, "Post Mortem," has been largely sold on the strength of returning character Wallace Boden, but the actor who plays Boden, Eamonn Walker, let the cat out of the bag during a recent Deadline interview.

Walker revealed that a Chicago Fire "favorite" was going to be in danger throughout the episode, and that his character's involvement will be predicated on what happens to this firefighter. He didn't make it clear which firefighter was at risk, despite Deadline's best attempts to get the inside scoop. "Yeah, I can’t tell you," Walker asserted. "Nice try, though. It’s somebody you know and love... You might even freak out."

Eamonn Walker reveals whether he plans to appear in future Chicago Fire episodes
Image
Wallace Boden leaving during the season 12 finale of Chicago Fire was presented with a silver lining. Sure, the character would no longer be Firehouse 51 chief, but he would still be working as part of the Chicago Fire Department, and would be returning for the occasional cameo.

It sounded like a good solution at the time, and fans anticipated seeing Boden pop up to check in his old firehouse. That has not been the case thus far. The character has been Mia for the entirety of the season, and now that he's slated to return in the upcoming episode "Post Mortem," actor Eamonn Walker has had to answer some questions about his Chicago Fire future.

Chicago Fire star teases death of fan "favorite" in season 13 and now we're stressed
Image
"Post Mortem" is not the title of an easygoing and low risk episode. The phrase, which means an "examination of a dead body to determine the cause of death," is going to dictate the pace and the tone of the upcoming Chicago Fire episode in which Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) returns.

There's been a lot of anticipation surrounding the episode, which airs Wednesday, April 16. We're all excited to see Boden after his season 12 departure, and we're curious to see how the former Chief deals with his troubled successor, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney). These elements are more than enough to sustain a compelling episode. But apparently, there's more.

Sam Carver's return is going to coincide with "nightmare" Chicago Fire episode
Image
Sam Carver has had an excruciating season 13 on Chicago Fire. The character was involved in a highly destructive relationship, then, he realized the only way he could kick his drinking habit was by working around the clock. When that plan ran its course, the character had no choice but to step back from 51 duties and focus on himself.

He's been missed. By his firefighting peers, but especially Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), who confronted and argued with him shortly before he decided to step away. The medic has bore the guilt of this interaction over the past few weeks, but the end of the episode "A Beast Like This" brought about the revelation that Carver is finally coming back. And we're not thrilled to note that he will be coming back to a firehouse in the midst of one of its most chaotic scenarios.

Sam Carver has completed his rehab stay...

It was announced a month ago that Eamonn will be back as Chief Boden in the episode titled “Post-Mortem.”

“They didn’t pull any punches the way they designed this episode. In brief, there’s an incident that goes really badly, and so, the Deputy Commissioner, Boden himself, has to come in and investigate what went wrong. So he’s asking questions of each of the people in the house about how it went down, and it gets really intense, of course, because of his allegiances. All of...

Chicago Fire's new promo teases storytelling trick we haven't seen since season 3
Image
Chicago Fire is shaking things up on April 16. Not only is the series bringing back Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), but it's employing storytelling techniques and trickery that we haven't seen in over a decade! "Post-Mortem" will revolve around a firefighting incident gone awry, and Boden comes back to his old stomping ground in an effort to determine what really happened.

It's a great premise for an episode, and one that the cast has already hyped up for its intensity, but we are more intrigued by the fact that "Post-Mortem" is going to employ flashbacks as Boden questions the firefighters involved in the aforementioned incident. Chicago Fire has been an aggressively linear show for the bulk of its time on the air. So linear, in fact, that the one time it used flashbacks was after the death of a beloved character.

Chicago Fire will bring back flashbacks Chicago Fire -- "A...

NBC released early footage for Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 18.

Eamonn Walker played Boden for the first 12 years of the hit show.

Despite the episode’s name, Boden did say goodbye to Firehouse 51. He got a promotion within the Chicago Fire Department.

Now, Boden is back, bringing a dramatic storyline with him.

Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 18 details

As previously reported by Monsters and Critics, Boden’s new episode debuts on Wednesday, April 16.

In the early footage, NBC viewers were teased with an image of a firefighter falling from a window.
