“Severance” is finally back but there are a lot of characters to keep track of and remember in the three years since Season 1.

The Apple TV+ series follows a group of employees at the mysterious Lumon who underwent a procedure that “severs” their consciousness so one version of themselves is constantly at work and knows nothing of the outside world and vice versa. Adam Scott stars in the series as the leader of one of the company teams trying to uncover the mysterious happenings at Lumon.

It will be produced by Egot winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, via their Ampersand production banner, and directed and produced by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.

Based on the popular video game franchise, which is owned by HarperCollins, the script will be written by The Lucas Bros. and Max Reisman. In 2021, Apple Arcade launched an official successor and modern twist to “The Oregon Trail.” The global phenomenon video game continues to be highly rated, and is available to play on Apple Arcade.

Caroline Fraser will produce for HarperCollins Productions. Kevin K. Vafi will also serve as producer.

The “Sonic the Hedgehog” movies have become some of the most lucrative video game adaptations in Hollywood history, proving that Sega characters can be major draws at the box office. And while the franchise is still going strong — Jim Carrey is coming out of retirement to reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in the upcoming third film — gamers clamoring to see more non-hedgehog properties from the Sega canon on the big screen are in for a treat. The iconic video game company is teaming up with Universal Pictures on a film adaptation of “Shinobi,” the ninja game that has delighted arcade goers for nearly four decades, IndieWire has learned.

The “Shinobi” film will be directed by Sam Hargraves, who is best known for directing “Extraction” and “Extraction 2” for Netflix. Ken Kobayashi will write the script. No casting details or release date have been announced.

Ken Kobayashi is writing the screenplay adaptation of the arcade game, which first debuted in 1987. That edgy game followed Joe Musashi, a modern-day ninja who confronts great evil. Shinobi spawned 14 games include spinoffs and ports for a total 5 million copies sold around the globe. A new entry in the series was revealed in late 2023.

Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce the movie through Marc Platt Productions alongside Dmitri M. Johnson through Story Kitchen and Toru Nakahara for Sega. Mike Goldberg will executive produce alongside Timothy I. Stevenson, who is co-producing.

Just over a year after the series finale of Barry aired on HBO, Bill Hader is returning to the premium cable channel for a brand-new comedy series. Its hard to imagine anyone being able to one-up the Emmy-winning series, but if someone can do it, it's Hader and the best premium cable network out there. Better yet, the actor-writer is set to unite with a fellow Barry scribe on the untitled comedy script, but it does not seem like Hader will be starring in it.

The new season of Hit-Monkey is days away from its streaming debut on Hulu, set to arrive on Monday, July 15. Ahead of the premiere, Cbr can unveil an exclusive clip introducing one of Season 2's new characters.

In the second season of the animated series, Leslie Jones (Ghostbusters: Answer the Call) will be voicing Eunice. Hulu describes the character as "sarcastic, foul-mouthed, and tough as nails," adding that "Eunice is the best assassins agent in New York City. But with her favorite client Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) dead and buried, she turns her attention to representing Hit-Monkey." The new clip, which can be watched below, sees Eunice and Hit-Monkey formally meeting.

The man behind Hulu's Hit-Monkey spoke with The Direct about the show’s upcoming Season 2, the new chaotic setting of New York City, and how his primate assassin differs from his other Marvel role as Devil Dinosaur.

The series follows a snow monkey who, after losing his tribe to an evil group of humans, takes it upon himself to take up arms and gun down every last person responsible.

To add to the wackiness of the whole situation, he is also straddled by the additional presence of Bryce, a ghost whose spirit can’t move on to the afterlife and who was the target of the hit that resulted in the death of Hit-Monkey’s tribe.

Hulu is giving Shark Week a run for its money this July with not one but seven National Geographic specials dropping on the streaming service at the start of the month. From Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie to Baby Sharks in the City, there are plenty of options for fans of these fearsome finned creatures.

Hulu also has a couple of fun offerings for adult animation fans with the full second season of Marvel’s Hit Monkey dropping on July 15 and Futurama returning for its 12th season on July 29th.

There’s not really anything notable in the way of original movies on Hulu this month, but Aliens, Step Brothers, and (500) Days of Summer are just a few of the noteworthy movies joining the library.

The actor is the latest to join Netflix’s The Four Seasons, a series adaptation of the 1981 film starring Alan Alda and Carol Burnett. The movie followed three middle-class couples vacationing together across the different seasons. It was previously adapted into a show for CBS in 1984, which only lasted one season.

“Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire” Come To Streaming Next Week With Asl Version

Take cover: Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ recent box office smash “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” will head to Max for its streaming debut on the Fourth of July. With its addition to its library, the streamer will also add a version of the film with American Sign Language (Asl), produced exclusively for Max with Asl performer Otis Jones of Deaf West Theatre providing interpretation.

The latest action-packed installment of the “Godzilla” and “King Kong” franchises is directed by Adam Wingard and follows Kong’s journey to find his family through an undiscovered layer of Hollow Earth, inadvertently uncovering the most dangerous threat to mankind that can only be counted (and possibly defeated) by the combined forces of Kong and the much-evolved Godzilla.

Welcome to July at Hulu! In addition to a large collection of films joining the streamer’s library on the first of the month, including Jordan Peele’s horror hit Get Out, 1986’s better-than-the-first-film “Aliens,” and more, Hulu will load up the rest of the month with various film streaming premieres, animated series returns, and documentary drops.

Actress Cristin Milioti is capturing attention in her new role as mafia family member Sofia Falcone, starring alongside Colin Farrell in Max’s upcoming series “The Penguin,” one of two comic book adaptations she’s appearing in this year. In May, Hulu announced she will join the cast of “Hit Monkey” for the animated show’s second season, premiering on July 15. “Black Mirror” has featured many talented actors, from Daniel Kaluuya and Bryce Dallas Howard to Aaron Paul and Letitia Wright. Cristin Milioti became a “Black Mirror” alum in 2017 when she starred opposite Jesse Plemons in the Season 4 opener, “USS Callister.” In the Emmy-winning episode, Milioti plays a programmer trapped in a virtual world by her reclusive coworker harboring secret possessive fantasies.

“The Penguin” won’t be Cristin Milioti’s first time on a Max original series. In 2021, the actress starred in “Made for Love,” a sci-fi dramedy about a tech billionaire’s ex who discovers a tracking device implanted in her brain.

Cristin Milioti is lending her voice to Season 2 of the Hulu adult animated series “Hit-Monkey,” Variety has learned exclusively.

As previously reported, Season 2 will see Monkey (Fred Tatasciore) and the ghost of American assassin Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) travel from Japan to New York. It is due to premiere on Hulu in July 15.

Milioti will star as Iris. Her official character description states, “Iris has grown up vowing never to be like the father, Bryce, who abandoned her, but when fate brings them back together, she realizes that she and her old man are cut from the same cloth as they hurtle towards a final reconciliation.”

This is the second comic book role Milioti has taken on recently. She is also set to star in the upcoming Max DC series “Penguin,” playing the role of Sofia Falcone. Milioti is known for her roles in projects like the “USS Callister” episode of “Black Mirror,...

Marvel Studios has drastically reduced its output since Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO, with the hope being to get back to quality over quantity. That's led to fewer TV shows on Disney+, but at least two more Marvel Animation titles will reportedly be released this year. 

According to What's On Disney Plus (via Toonado.com), the streamer has sent out an updated 2024 slate which names Black Panther spin-off Eyes Of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (previously known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year) as being among the platform's 2024 offerings. 

Other Marvel titles mentioned include Hit-Monkey season 2 (a Marvel Television leftover), Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Only Hit-Monkey has a confirmed launch date of July 15; the rest are currently undated.

It's interesting that Marvel Zombies isn't listed, as we'd expected that to hit in 2024 as well. It could be that no final decision has been made on the series,...
