wasted possibilities

Upfront alert: I'm 75, cineamaphile who has seen movies go through many stages My father was cinematographer so maybe I am a snob. The most exciting part of a movie like this is watching the form and skill of the girls as gymnasts. But the fluidity of this was constantly RUINED by framing too close so we can't see the full body; then adding insult to injury, they would go into split screen so we had TWO gymnasts at the same time: both of them framed badly. I remember MTV and all the quick cuts. But WHY? Is everyone on Ritalin now?

Who shot this? Someones cousin on their cellphone? pull back man. And slow down. More long shots, more slo mo. This was a disservice to the girls. Adding to the irritation was the "music" which was loops played over and over, samples you could trigger with one finger. Silence would be better. The "actors" are amateurs so I guess this is low budget. Less is more kids. Predictable plot too: gosh, let's see. Snotty city kids put down country kids. O gee I wonder....?? will the underdogs come back to win? Wish I could answer that (except to be willing to bet they DO, of course!). I turned it off midway.

Awful

Actors are mediocre, there's no scenario and you're just asking yourself what you're doing there after five minutes.

Fun Movie for the Family

A Second Chance: Rivals! is a good film that ticks all the boxes for family films. Girls, aged seven to fourteen, will especially love it. The young actors do a great job. This a is a great sequel to A Second Chance.

Gymnastic Rivalry...Teen resolution...Very well done

I really enjoyed this film, with my grandchildren. What impressed me in particular, was the intent and handling of difficult issues of teens, rivalry and resolution. The humane and positive resolution within this competitive environment...teen rivalry...was done thoughtfully. Well done Cast,Crew...and Director Clay!

A Second Chance: Rivals

I must admit, I had low expectations of this film. Not that I didn't enjoy the first one ( A Second Chance), but it was of an obvious lower budget to the sequel and I didn't believe the story could go on... was I wrong.

I took my daughter to see this movie during its Hoyts release, we were lucky enough to meet the cast including Stella Shute, who plays Tess, and Emily Morris, who makes her return as Maddy.

The storyline intrigued me from the very beginning. I don't want to giveaway any spoilers because this is a film you must encourage young girls to watch for themselves. A great, fulfilling film packed full of topical issues.

The one thing that wasn't quite clear to me is that Maddy start of the film with an injury, hence her travels - this will make sense when you watch.

A HUGE credit to Emily, and the rest of the cast. I highly recommend this film to anyone with young children.
