More Than Just About Baskeball

Aulcie Lewis is a talented basketball player from Newark, NJ who joined the New York Knicks during the 75-76 season, only to be immediately cut from the team before seeing a day on the court. But as luck would have it, Shamluk, the pioneer of Israel basketball asked Aulcie to play for the Maccabi Tel Aviv team. This decision would change Israel's and Aulcie's life forever. Not only did Aulcie take Maccabi to the division championships and win, he became a legend in Israel. And it's in Israel Aulcie would meet the love of his life, a Isrealian top model named Tami.

The documentary, aptly titled Aulcie follows the life, love, and career of Aulcie Lewis from the courts of America to the courts of Israel. Through vintage footage and stories told from Aulcie, his sister, friends and his former American girlfriend, the viewers get to know Aulcia intimately. But the film is not just about basketball, it's also about Aulcie's desire to meet his daughter he hasn't seen in 40 years.

What makes this film enjoyable to watch, is it's not just about basketball, it's about life and the many roads it took Aulcie down, good or bad, and the man that emerged in the end. The audience does not need to be a fan of Aulcie or heard of the name to get swept up in his life and his many journeys. If the viewer is a fan they will become a bigger fan. If the viewer hasn't heard of Aulcie they will not soon forget the name by the movie's end.
