Jennifer Hudson has a new holiday album out, and with the vocals she slayed (or should we say, sleigh‘ed) on it, she sure deserves her title of “Princess of Christmas!”

“I think Mariah is the Queen of Christmas, and I’m the Princess of Christmas,” Hudson said. “At least, I named myself.”

Netflix's A Family Affair features a wide variety of songs on the soundtrack. The soundtrack features tracks from hit contemporary artists including Miley Cyrus, Haim, and Sabrina Carpenter. Because a large portion of the movie takes place during the Christmas season, it also features classic carols such as "Jingle Bells" and "Deck the Halls."
The A Family Affair soundtrack features a wide variety of songs. The Netflix romantic comedy, which became a hit on the streaming platform despite negative reviews that earned it a 41% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, was helmed by The Bridges of Madison County director Richard Lagravenese from a screenplay by Carrie Solomon. Netflix’s A Family Affair launched at the end of June featuring a romance between High School Musical heartthrob Zac Efron and Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman. The main obstacle to that romance is Joey King’s Zara Ford, daughter of Nicole Kidman’s Brooke Harwood.
Zara works for Efron’s movie star — very important distinction from a celebrity — Chris Cole, who fits the stereotype of a high maintenance Hollywood boss. She hopes to make her way to a producer one day, but so far she hasn’t been able to climb the ladder. A unique opportunity presents itself when Chris, in an effort to apologize and ask Zara to come back to work for him after she quits one day, gets drunk with Brooke and they start to hook up only to be interrupted by Zara.

Christmas time was here during the Billboard 200 tracking week of December 22 through December 28, but it didn’t keep Taylor Swift from continuing her run at number-one. Her re-recorded “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” album achieved a fifth nonconsecutive week on the chart with 98,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. That turned out to be a historic milestone for the singer-songwriter. Read all about this week’s chart at Billboard.com.
Swift’s five weeks at number-one with “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” bring her all-time total to 68 weeks on top across her 13 chart toppers. So she’s averaging more than five weeks at number-one with each of her leaders, and she now has more weeks at number-one than any other solo artist in history. She still trails The Beatles among all artists, but it’s possible no one will ever catch them: they had 19 number-one...

Nat King Cole was a legendary American jazz pianist and vocalist who helped define an era. Born in 1919, Cole’s distinctive baritone voice and stylish, melodic jazz piano brought him widespread fame and success. His hits like “Unforgettable,” “Mona Lisa,” and “The Christmas Song” have become timeless classics. However, Cole’s musical accomplishments were achieved despite facing immense racial barriers and discrimination throughout his career due to the color of his skin. Yet through talent, perseverance, and an unflappable charm, Cole broke through and earned the respect of audiences and fellow musicians alike. Though his life was cut tragically short by lung cancer in 1965 at the age of 45, Cole’s musical legacy lives on. His unparalleled style and soulful interpretations of jazz, pop, and ballads made him an unforgettable icon of American music.

The most wonderful time of the year was no match for Sza, whose sophomore album “Sos” topped the Billboard 200 for the third week in a row with 128,000 equivalent album units based on its combined album sales, individual track sales, and online streams. But holiday albums did manage to grab five slots in the top 10 for the tracking week that ended December 29 (four days after Christmas), including two that reached the top five. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“Sos” is the first R&b album by a woman to spend three weeks on top since Beyonce‘s self-titled effort a decade ago. It managed to eke out a win over a still-strong Taylor Swift‘s “Midnights,” which came in at number-two with 106,000 units (still in six figures after 10 weeks of release). Then came “Christmas” by Michael Buble, which took number-three despite dipping 14 to 62,000 album units.

Merry Christmas, one and all, it's time to break out the mince pies (as if you haven't already), pour the prosecco and put on some festive music.
Christmas songs don't always have to be merry – among the most beloved festive tunes are "2,000 Miles" by The Pretenders, which is curiously bleak, and the heartbreak of Wham!'s "Last Christmas".
Of course, there are plenty of upbeat songs on our list, too, from Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" to Mariah Carey's"All I Want for Christmas is You".
Here are some of our favourites, from Forties classics to more recent pop hits, to get your Christmas celebrations into full swing.
18) “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” – John Lennon and Yoko Ono
There’s a caveat to the optimistic message of the song’s title. “War is over,” sing a choir of children over festive tambourines, but only, they add,...

Taylor Swift is showing impressive staying power on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her “Midnights” spent its fifth week at number-one for the tracking week that ended on December 1, and it hasn’t lost that much ground from week to week. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
SEEKennedy Center Honors 2022: Complete list of performers and presenters from Sunday’s ceremony
“Midnights” achieved another 151,000 equivalent album units based on its combined album sales, individual track sales, and online streams. That’s down only 15 from last week’s total of 177,000 album units. How much longer will she remain in the lead? Her last album to top the chart for five weeks or more was 2020’s “Folklore,” which ruled for eight weeks.
Ranked second yet again was Drake and 21 Savage‘s collaborative album “Her Loss” with 93,000 units, followed by the indefatigable “Un Verano Sin Ti” by Bad Bunny with 52,000 units.

Christmas is truly the gift that keeps on giving for the television business and for viewers.
Dating back to the 1940s, there have been nearly 2,500 TV episodes and specials with Christmas themes according to a list on Wikipedia. Sitcoms have provided the most content with 813 episodes dating back to 1952.
For the variety show treatment, Perry Como got things rolling with the first of his The Perry Como Chesterfield Supper Club — Christmas Special in 1948. Old Blue Eyes himself joined the party in 1950 with The Frank Sinatra Show: Christmas Show in 1950. The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show’s Gracie’s Christmas dropped that same year.
Sitcoms and dramas followed soon thereafter. CBS crime drama Suspense (“Dancing Dan’s Christmas”) aired in 1950. NBC’s Dragnet (“The Big .22 Rifle for Christmas”) and CBS’ Racket Squad (“The Christmas Caper”) followed in 1952. Amos ‘n Andy (“The Christmas Story”) and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet...

It was the most wonderful time of the year for Adele. Despite the latest tracking week on the Billboard 200 albums chart (December 24-30) including both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, her latest blockbuster “30” holds on to the number-one spot for the sixth week in a row, making it the first album since Morgan Wallen‘s “Dangerous” to spend six weeks on top. Read more about this week’s top 10 at Billboard.com.
Adele had a steep drop in equivalent album units, which Billboard calculates by combining album sales, track sales, and online streams. She achieved 99,000 units, which is down 53% from the more than 200,000 units she accumulated last week and also her first week under six figures. But don’t cry for her: it’s still the biggest sixth week for any album since Roddy Ricch‘s “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” almost two years ago.

Adele‘s “30” has been dominant on the Billboard 200 albums chart since it was released in November, and no amount of holiday season music has been able to dislodge it from number-one. In the tracking week that ended December 23, it not only remained on top for a fifth straight week, it actually improved its sales performance from week to week. More on this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“30” leads the way with 212,000 equivalent album units, which are calculated by combining album sales, track sales, and online streams. That’s actually the album’s best performance since its second week on the chart. Her streams were down 14%, but that was more than offset by album sales increasing by 23%. So while “30” isn’t a Christmas album, it seems to be benefiting from holiday season purchases. God help other artists if she ever did release an actual Christmas album.

Ralph Carmichael, composer and Emmy Award-winning arranger-conductor for Nat King Cole, Jack Jones, Ella Fitzgerald and Roger Williams, died Oct. 18 in Camarillo, Calif. He was 94.
Carmichael got his big break when Capitol Records producer Lee Gillette was introduced to his arrangement in the 1950s. This led to the prolific collaboration between Carmichael and Cole, starting with Cole arranging the 1960 Christmas album “The Magic of Christmas” which was re-packaged in 1962 as “The Christmas Song.” Carmichael and Cole produced nine full studio projects together including Nat’s final sessions in 1964 for the album “L.O.V.E,” more collaborations with Nat than any other arranger. He was also a primary arranger/conductor for pianist Roger Williams, creating 20 albums together including the 1965 hit “Born Free.”
Carmichael also wrote charts for TV shows such as “My Mother the Car” and “I Love Lucy” as well as movie scores, including “The Blob,” “4D Man” and “The Cross and the Switchblade.

It’s been almost six months since Taylor Swift topped the Billboard 200 albums chart with “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” the re-recorded edition of her Grammy-winning blockbuster. But she shot back to the top for the tracking week that ended on October 7, 2021. That’s because, even in an era of streaming driving a lot of chart success, Swift remains the queen of sales. Read more here at Billboard.
“Fearless” jumped 156 spots back to its number-one perch thanks to the release of its vinyl edition as well as signed CDs in Swift’s own merchandise store. It achieved 152,000 equivalent album units, of which traditional sales accounted for 146,000. Streaming only added up to about 6,000 units. That brings this version of “Fearless” to a total of 400,000 in total sales, which makes it the second biggest seller of 2021. It’s behind Swift’s own “Evermore,” which has sold 434,000 copies. We’ve had three presidents and two popes since Jamey Johnson last released an album of original songs. The double-lp The Guitar Song arrived in 2010, just two years after Johnson’s breakout record That Lonesome Song shattered Nashville’s glossy façade with a return to rough-and-tumble outlaw songwriting and production. But the Alabama native has been in no rush to release a proper follow-up, choosing instead to pay tribute to songwriting heroes like Hank Cochran with the 2012 covers album Living for a Song and put out a surprisingly tender holiday...

Mac DeMarco tackled “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” for his annual holiday tune, adding a soft-rock sheen to the seasonal staple.
The singer-songwriter adopts just the right amount of crooner vibrato on the track, pairing nicely with his woozy keys and loping drum groove.
In a lo-fi, reliably playful video, DeMarco sings, smiles and sways in front of mountains and next to a massive inflatable Santa Claus. He even plays the breezy guitar solo in the clip, which features the location tag of “Santa’s Workshop, North Pole, NY.

Although it’s been sung many times, many ways, Christina Aguilera just absolutely shredded “The Christmas Song” on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
Watch the video above.
Goodness, the vocals. Creative Arts Emmy for whomever lit that entranceway.
Christina Aguilera’s holiday album is titled “My Kind of Christmas.” You can see — or hear, really — why it, like so many of her other albums, has gone platinum.
Aguilera is no stranger to NBC. The “Genie in a Bottle” singer was one of the original coaches on NBC’s “The Voice” from. In the spring of 2018, Aguilera explained why that run ended — and why it will likely not be reprised again.
The pop star called “The Voice” a “churning hamster wheel” of a show, and said it’s “not about music.”
“It became something that I didn’t feel was what I had signed up for in season one,” she told Billboard.

Shawn Mendes’ Wonder debuted at Number One in a Christmas-crazed week on the Rolling Stone Top 200 Albums chart. Mendes’ fourth full-length — and first since 2018 — wasn’t a huge streaming hit (41.7 million streams), but it earned more than 52,000 sales, allowing it to coast to Number One. Taylor Swift’s Folklore wasn’t far behind, taking second with 95,300 units.
Wonder was one of the few new sets to debut on the top half of the Rs 200. Who cares about new music with Christmas around the corner? Holiday albums continued to own the chart.

"Proceeds from the song will benefit @feedingamerica & we're starting by donating $100k to support those in need in the holidays." Pink had a special little helper to assist with her appearance on The Disney Holiday Singalong. The pop star sang "The Christmas Song" during the ABC special that aired on Monday, Nov. 30, and 9-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart joined her to belt out some of the lines. Clearly, vocal talent runs in this family. The pair both wore beautiful gowns while standing in front of a decorated Christmas tree, a lit fireplace and a screen projecting classic holiday Disney scenes. Pink brought along a very special guest for her Disney Holiday Singalong performance on Monday night. The "One Too Many" singer was joined by her 9-year-old daughter, Willow, for a beautiful rendition of "The Christmas Song" in front of a shining tree. Musical talent obviously runs in the family.
This isn't the first time Pink and Willow have performed together. In 2018, the mother-daughter duo blessed our ears with their cover of "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. We're so glad they stepped back into the spotlight to bring us a little more holiday cheer. If you need something to warm your heart this season, watch the clip above and prepare to feel all the feelings.

For many of us, the 2020 version of the holidays is going to be a more homebound one than usual. What better time to build your physical-media collection with DVDs, Blu-rays, and books to help keep the season bright?
Blu-ray debuts
This year saw the first release of several Christmas favorites on Blu-ray, from Paul Feig’s 2019 sleeper hit “Last Christmas” (Universal Home Entertainment) to the first North American hi-def releases of the moving and funny anime classic “Tokyo Godfathers” (Gkids/Shout Factory), a contemporary adaptation of the Christmas-set Western tale “3 Godfathers,” and the all-star WWII drama “A Midnight Clear” (Shout Selects). The latter, a 1992 adaptation of the William Wharton novel from writer-director Keith Gordon, features a cast of up-and-coming actors who would eventually become filmmakers themselves, including Ethan Hawke, Peter Berg, Frank Whaley, and Gary Sinise.
