Fresh off helming the most popular movie musical of last year, IndieWire can exclusively share that acclaimed “Wicked” filmmaker Jon M. Chu will receive the Vanguard Director Award at the 2025 Scad Savannah Film Festival. The honor, in recognition of his visionary storytelling, will be bestowed upon Chu on Sunday, Oct. 26, during an award presentation that will include a conversation about his career, featuring select clips from Chu’s filmography, as well as chatter about his upcoming film with Universal Pictures, “Wicked: For Good.”
“Jon M. Marvel Rivals fans finally got their wish to have another Vanguard in the game, after Season Three brought two more Duelists to an already lopsided roster. Thor's sister Angela has been revealed as the first Season Four addition, with Daredevil coming down the line, but until then, fans seem worried about Angela's playstyle and kit being similar to the game's most hated character.
In a Reddit post by GigaAkais, fans are divided on Angela. Some praise having a flying Vanguard in the game, while others are concerned she may be a stronger Wolverine, with the ability to kidnap multiple characters at once. Ok_Hedgehog6502 even said: "...may god have mercy on you,...

There is a quiet intensity in the seconds before a real-time strategy match begins. The countdown appears, your heart rate quickens, and you take a final breath before your command center and workers materialize on screen.
That specific thrill, a pure contest of strategy and reflexes, is the feeling Stormgate aims to recapture. Developed by Frost Giant Studios, a team of Rts veterans from StarCraft II and Warcraft III, this free-to-play title seeks to modernize a classic formula.
It takes the familiar loop of building bases, gathering resources, and commanding armies, then layers on a host of improvements for a new generation. The game’s universe sets a grand stage for this conflict, pitting the high-tech Human Vanguard against the demonic Infernal Host and the mysterious, angelic Celestials in a desperate battle for Earth.
A Polished Engine with Deliberate Pacing
At its foundation, Stormgate feels like coming home for anyone...

The first open beta weekend for Battlefield 6has come to a close, and post-beta, fans are discovering that there are some weird and surprising consequences resulting from the game's anti-cheat software. Battlefield 6 has made a triumphant comeback in the eyes of a lot of fans, but the use of Electronic Arts' Javelin anti-cheat software has been a headache for PC players, resulting in some not even bothering with the beta because of all its restrictions.
According to an X post from Riot Games' anti-cheat team lead Phillip Koskinas, PC players cannot run Battlefield 6 and Valorant simultaneously due to the conflicting anti-cheat programs. Valorant uses a different anti-cheat system called Vanguard. While they are compatible with each other and can be installed together, they cannot run at the same time.

According to a surprising Marvel Rivals‘ stat, Magneto is the one character that is being used rigorously in the higher-ranked lobbies. This is likely because of the versatile arsenal of this X-Men antagonist, which is also overlooked by a lot of players.
The numbers don’t lie, as according to a Reddit post by u/Dontaskmemyname9723, over 50% of players pick Magneto in a lobby that belongs to the Grandmaster or higher ranks.
It doesn’t add up, right? How can a character whom you barely see in a lobby be of such great value in the toughest lobbies? From a diverse roster where characters like Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man take all the spotlight, this marks a surprising shift in perception in Marvel Rivals.
Magneto Is One of the Most Overlooked Superheroes in Marvel Rivals
Despite having great similarities with Doctor Strange, Magneto was never really chosen by a lot of players.

NetEase finally dropped the reveal trailer for Marvel Rivals‘ newest vampire hunter, and this character might as well be wearing a name tag that says “Hello, I’m basically Vergil.” The developers didn’t even try to hide their Devil May Cry obsession with this design.
Blade carries two swords and a hand cannon that looks ripped straight from Nero’s arsenal. His combat animations have that unmistakable Capcom flair, especially the way he handles weapon transitions. But the real kicker comes with his ultimate ability.
He charges up his sword, shouts “A thousand cuts!” and unleashes what’s obviously Vergil’s Judgement Cut End. The attack creates those signature red slash marks across the battlefield. Then, just to remove any lingering doubt, the man drops the line “Bury the Light” at the trailer’s end.
That’s Vergil’s theme song from Devil May Cry 5. NetEase basically stamped “Dmc Approved” on this character.

The cheating situation has gotten pretty out of hand in Rainbow Six Siege X, but wasn’t unexpected. Ubisoft already struggled with their anti-cheat system, and going free was an open invitation to cheaters. At least, that’s what is happening at the moment.
The problem of cheaters has been there for a long time, and every competitive game struggles with it. Some even take desperate measures, like Valorant did with their Vanguard anti-cheat. But there are simple yet effective solutions.
Instead of depending on complex algorithms, why not take the help of select trusted players? That’s exactly what Valve does with their Overwatch system for Counter-Strike 2. It’s not a permanent solution for Rainbow Six Siege X, but it helps nonetheless.
Rainbow Six Siege X Should Take Inspiration From Valve for Curbing Cheaters

Remember when The Thing felt like dead weight? Back in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5, playing Benjamin J. Grimm was basically volunteering to get dunked on by every Iron Man and Storm in the lobby. You’d charge forward with all the confidence of a freight train, only to watch enemies casually float above your head like you were some kind of ground-bound peasant.
Those were dark times for Vanguard players. The flyer meta turned half the tank roster into expensive paperweights, and The Thing got it worst of all. Here’s a character whose whole identity revolves around being an unstoppable force, reduced to helplessly swinging at air while Storm laughed from the clouds.
But Season 3 has changed everything. NetEase finally remembered that The Thing is supposed to be, you know, threatening. Now, he might actually be your best bet for climbing ranked, assuming you can stomach playing a character everyone forgot existed.

We have all had our fair share of experience playing healers in Marvel Rivals, and you could either be termed the crown jewel of the team or get hit with a “healer diff” from an Iron Man who couldn’t get any heals because he was flying all over the place.
Maining a Support is a tedious job, especially with teammates who are incapable of switching to other roles because they have a soft spot for their favorite characters. While the dedication is respectable, it could cost you the entire match.
Supports are the backbone of any team in Marvel Rivals, yet they hardly get treated like one. To become the Mvp of the match, here are 10 tips to reach your full potential as a healer and earn the support of your entire team for the rest of your Marvel Rivals journey.

For months, Overwatch 2 has been the laughing stock in the gaming community as it continues to bleed players to Marvel Rivals while hitting new lows in active players. The NetEase Games title came out of nowhere and had everything under its belt to wreck Blizzard’s failed sequel.
At one point, it seemed like Marvel Rivals had figured out the formula for success and was the future of hero-shooter space. However, as is often the case, the reality is often disappointing. In the last couple of months, Marvel Rivals has seen a steady decline in its player count, and now, it’s dangerously close to that of Overwatch 2.
Marvel Rivals is dealing with a mass player exodus
Remember when the so-called “Overwatch 2” killer hit over 600,000 active players on Steam after the launch of Season 1? With NetEase actively engaging with the community and releasing new heroes, many believed that Marvel Rivals...

Vanguard mains have endured enough punishment this season.
Between dodging Hawkeye arrows from across the map and watching Iron Man and Ultron zip around like annoying mosquitoes, tank players already feel like they’re fighting an uphill battle against gravity itself.
And now, Marvel Rivals Season 3 leaks suggest things are set to get significantly worse. NetEase appears ready to introduce a vampire hunter whose kit reads like a love letter to making tank players question their life choices. The community’s already in full panic mode, and frankly, they have every right to be.
Blade’s leaked abilities spell doom for tank players
The upcoming Marvel Rivals season, titled “The Abyss Awakens”, will reportedly bring both Phoenix and Blade to the roster, but tank mains should fear the latter far more than any cosmic entity. Recent leaks from credible sources paint a picture of a duelist essentially designed as a...

The team-up system in Marvel Rivals has always been one of the standout features introduced by NetEase. When two or three Heroes combine their powers and one of them becomes the team-up anchor, they unleash new spectacular combos. Well, if you’re a daily consumer of the title, you’ll know how these things work. Sounds fun, right? It may sound like a piece of cake, but that isn’t the case every time.
Despite playing Marvel Rivals for so long, several players often find the abilities confusing and fail to pull them off immediately. While two or three Hero team-up systems sound fun, there’s one particular move that can put NetEase in the driving seat by implementing a revolutionary idea in Hero Shooter history. Can you guess about it?
Without real synergy, Marvel Rivals will keep falling apart

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 has introduced tons of new team-up abilities that work fine in this meta. While some are broken and players are losing their marbles over it, the rest are working like a charm. However, players miss a few team-up abilities from the previous patch that used to be considered top-tier, especially for the Vanguards.
Such is the case with a recent Reddit post about the forgotten Metallic Chaos, where Scarlet Witch used to be the main team-up anchor that benefited Magneto. That was one of the reasons why he was so popular and a S-tier Vanguard till Season 2. And let’s be honest, everyone enjoyed their favorite X-Men character with a great sword in his hand, slashing through everyone in competitive matches.
This one nerf turned Magneto’s role from team anchor to dead weight in Marvel Rivals
It all started with chaos, as many players complained...

Whenever you see Lord icons on any Marvel Rivals Hero, you usually think that the player will know how to use their abilities in a timely manner. But wait, till you see one particular Lord Icon. You might want to change your thought process here a little bit, as it has now become a sign of a bad omen. Yes, we’re talking about the Cloak & Dagger players featuring Lord icons.
Surprisingly, Cloak & Dagger has the highest pick rate among PC and Console users, and can be considered one of the S-tier Strategists in-game. With Dagger’s auto-aim system and Cloak’s Darkforce’s auto-tracking, anyone can easily learn how to use them. So, it’s evident that it’s easier to reach Lord status with this duo. However, are they good?
Cloak & Dagger’s Lord Icon has become the symbol of doom and despair in Marvel Rivals
Yes, you’ve heard it right.

Sweden’s “Vanguard” won the Golden Nymph Award for best series at the 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival Tuesday, while Germany’s “On a Day in September” won best fiction film. Robin Wright received the Crystal Nymph Award from Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco to recognize her career achievements.
The ceremony made an awkward start when during an energetic dance sequence between the co-hosts, British actor Ricky Whittle and French singer Shy’m, the latter suffered a wardrobe malfunction (à la Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl). Despite the fact the incident aired live on TVMonaco and was captured by photo agencies like Getty, the pair maintained their savoir faire and continued with the ceremony without referring to it.

Someone just pulled off the most elaborate prank in Marvel Rivals history, and honestly, it’s beautiful.
A Redditor recently posted what looks like a serious Doctor Strange rework concept that has half the community nodding along and the other half completely losing their minds.
The best part? It’s not actually about Strange at all. This whole thing is peak tank player energy, and if you don’t get why that’s hilarious, you’ve probably never solo-tanked for three Dps instalockers.
This Marvel Rivals rework post is actually genius disguised as madness
The original poster went full method actor with this one. They wrote out this incredibly detailed Strange rework that sounds totally legitimate on the surface. New abilities, cooldown adjustments, team-up changes—the works. You’d think NetEase hired them as a consultant.

The 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival opens on Friday with CBS Studios’ “Watson,” starring Morris Chestnut. Over the following days, nine drama shows will vie for the Golden Nymphs. Here are the competitors:
“Vanguard” (Sweden), miniseries, international premiere; produced by Flx with Film i Väst for Svt; distributed by Viaplay Content Distribution
“Vanguard” tells the story of an unlikely media mogul and trailblazer of technological reform, torn between passion and duty. It’s a tale of fearless entrepreneurship, a desire to change the world — and a sibling rivalry in a powerful family fractured by old wounds.

A Reddit user might have solved one of the biggest gameplay issues Marvel Rivals has had. In most cases, Vanguard players often complain about not getting heals from the backline even after mitigating tons of damage for the team. However, they sometimes forget the basic mechanics that you must protect your Supports to receive a sufficient amount of heals.
With the Flier meta still active, it became a nightmare for Support players to stay alive as they get jumped on almost all the time. Ask any Cloak & Dagger main, and they can confirm that it’s not easy to survive Iron Man’s Repulsor Blast or Human Torch’s Supernova. It’s not like NetEase has provided no cooldown to Dark Teleportation to avoid those deadly attacks all the time.

“Vanguard,” a drama about Swedish mogul Jan Stenbeck, has sold to TG4 (Ireland), Err (Estonia), Viaplay SVOD on Amazon Prime, Viaplay Select on Cindie (LatAm), Prima+ (Czech Republic) and Vodafone (Greece), Variety has found out exclusively.
Flx’s Lejla Bešic produced the five-episode show – about to screen at Monte-Carlo Television Festival – for Svt in collaboration with the N8 alliance, while Viaplay Content Distribution handles international sales.
The story, based on Per Andersson’s biography “Stenbeck: A Biography of a Successful Businessman,” kicks off with Stenbeck returning to the family he has spent his whole life rejecting.
Just like … Michael Corleone. “I wanted to do a homage to ‘The Godfather,’” laughed director Goran Kapetanović.
He’s happy, working in New York and romancing an American socialite. But when tragedy strikes, twice, he needs to lead his family’s industrial group.

Kathy Bates is still relatively new to leading a major network juggernaut, but at IndieWire Honors, the “Matlock” star declared herself part of Hollywood’s “old guard.” Surrounded by friends and collaborators from the CBS legal drama, IndieWire’s Vanguard award winner began her acceptance speech on June 5 by reflecting on the definition of the accolade.
“I looked up the word ‘vanguard’ and it means ‘a group of people leading the way in new developments or ideas,'” said Bates. “If you use that in a sentence, it would be the experimental spirit of the modernist Vanguard. So you folks at IndieWire have provided me the perfect opportunity to thank the army of folks who continue to champion our incredible show.”
The acting legend began her litany of thanks for CBS with executives George Cheeks, Amy Reisenbach, and David Stapf. She also tipped her hat to Eric Kim, Yelena Chak,...

Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals introduced a new unit – Ultron, who is the first flight-based Strategist in the game. Naturally, his release brought with it a ton of speculation as to Netease Games’ ongoing direction and the possibility of future aerial units.
Marvel Rivals could do well to introduce a flight-based tank to the mix, and there is simply no better candidate than War Machine here. War Machine could be an excellent addition to the game, and shake things up just a little to keep it fresh.
War Machine is the flying Vanguard we deserve in Marvel Rivals
Vanguards are a class of tanks, characterized by their ability to absorb ridiculous amounts of damage (on account of them having a massive Hp pool), and often being able to retaliate with a counter at times.

Our beloved Call of Duty franchise has been known to delve into all kinds of eras when guns were used. From the beaches of Normandy to Clean House, the video games have done it all.
However, not every video game in the franchise has been successful. One of the most disastrous video games in the franchise is Call of Duty: Vanguard, which, despite strong commercial sales, received mixed or average reviews. What many people fail to notice is that Call of Duty: Vanguard tried to break free of a trend that every Call of Duty game had followed.
Call of Duty: Vanguard was not your average Band of Brothers experience
It was in 2021 that Vanguard was released, and thousands of copies had been pre-ordered, and thousands more were sold on the day of the release. Call of Duty: Vanguard was one of the highest-selling video games in 2021.

Sometimes, the biggest plot twist in Marvel Rivals isn’t who wins the match—it’s why a genocidal robot suddenly cares about teamwork.
Season 2.5 just gave us Ultron as a playable Strategist, and the community’s been scrambling for answers ever since. Why is Marvel’s resident extinction enthusiast suddenly patching up heroes instead of vaporizing them?
The answer, as it turns out, isn’t about redemption or some cosmic threat. It’s about the oldest supervillain origin in the book: unresolved family drama—or, put simply, daddy issues™.
The real reason Ultron is fighting for the good guys
Ultron’s heel-turn isn’t about saving the world—it’s about saving his memories. Marvel Rivals’ latest “Fathers and Sons” lore drop finally pulled back the curtain, and the reveal is almost too poetic: Iron Man threatened to wipe Ultron’s memories of Hank Pym, his own creator.
That’s right—Ultron,...

In the last couple of days, we’ve heard rumors suggest that Marvel Rivals is going to plunge right into the Symbiote lore in Season 3. Several leaks have surfaced online suggesting that characters such as Rocket Raccoon, Moon Knight, Storm, and Captain America are all set to get some Symbiote-infused skins.
It’s crystal clear, folks. We’re most probably getting Knull, the god of Symbiotes himself, as the protagonist in Marvel Rivals Season 3. The community waits to see how NetEase Games integrates such an iconic villain into the hero-shooter and elevates the gameplay. For me personally, the arrival of Knull could finally realize my dream of seeing Carnage in Marvel Rivals.
Let there be Carnage in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals‘ roster allows everyone to play with some iconic villains such as Magneto, Loki, and Venom. However, I don’t really think they’re the level of evil we’ve seen in comics or films.
