Few actors have as extensive a filmography as Steven Weber, and his best movies and TV shows reveal an astounding level of variety that stands as a testament to the Wings and Chicago Med star's versatility. Born in 1961 with a career that started in 1984, Steven Weber has starred in dozens of movies and TV shows across the decades. He got his earliest experience as a child actor in TV commercials, but his big break came in the 1984 romantic comedy Flamingo Kid.
From this early appearance, Steven Weber went on to star in a variety of movies and TV shows throughout the 1980s, including the acclaimed Vietnam War movie Hamburger Hill. However, it was landing a leading role in the 1990-1997 sitcom Wings that truly kick-started Steven Weber's career, and decades later the actor is still enjoying an incredibly successful and active career. As this slow broadcast network pilot season continues, ABC has ordered its second comedy pilot of the year: “Forgive and Forget,” a multi-camera comedy set to star Emmy-winning “Modern Family” alum Ty Burrell.
Burrell is also on board as an executive producer (through his Desert Whale Prods. shingle) on “Forgive and Forget,” while Eugene Garcia-Cross is writer/exec producer and Robin Shorr is on board as showrunner and exec producer. 20th Television is behind the project, which stars Burrell as Hank, a perennial “life of the party.” According to the logline, Hank gets an unexpected diagnosis, leading him to reconnect with his responsible adult son Ben.
ABC has also ordered the comedy pilot “Shifting Gears,” starring Tim Allen, for this season. That means both of the network’s comedy pilots are multi-camera sitcoms from 20th TV starring veteran ABC stars.

ABC is piloting a new comedy starring and exec produced by Ty Burrell.
Deadline revealed that the multicamera project Forgive & Forget was in the works a year ago and the project, which comes from Punky Brewster duo Eugene Garcia-Cross and Robin Shorr, is now moving forward.
It is the latest pilot order for the Disney-owned network; Deadline revealed that Tim Allen was returning to ABC for a family comedy from Duncanville co-creators Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Sully. That marked the first pilot order of the season for ABC, which has instead been focusing on year-round development.
The show, which comes from 20th Television, follows perennial life of the party Hank (Burrell). After an unexpected diagnosis, Hank reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together.
Garcia-Cross will write with Shorr as showrunner. They will exec produce alongside Burrell via his Desert Whale Productions banner.

SAG-AFTRA “Prepared To Strike” Letter Hits 1,000 Signatures, Including Guild President Fran Drescher
Exclusive: After it emerged that over 300 actors had written to SAG-AFTRA leadership that they are “prepared to strike” if the guild doesn’t “get all the way there” during talks with the studios, the number of actors signing the letter has more than tripled overnight.
Deadline can reveal that the letter has now been signed by over 1,000 actors, including stars such as Charlize Theron, Joaquin Phoenix, Jamie Lee Curtis, Cobie Smulders and Pedro Pascal, as well as, curiously SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher.
Other names recently added include Paul Giamatti, Bradley Whitford, Rose Byrne, Olivia Wilde, Ewan McGregor, Aubrey Plaza, Rooney Mara and Sarah Paulson.
Given that Drescher, the star of long-running sitcom The Nanny, is essentially leading the charge during negotiations with the AMPTP, alongside chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, her signature is an interesting move.

Most recently, Elliott has garnered attention and acclaim for her role as Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto on Hulu's "The Bear" alongside Jeremy Allen White.
When she isn't busy working, though, Elliott shares parenting duties with her husband, "House of Cards" writer Bill Kennedy. The two began dating in 2014 and tied the knot in the presence of 200 guests in September 2016, as reported by People. Elliott and Kennedy have since welcomed two children together, daughter Edith Pepper and son William Joseph. Currently, she stars in the award-winning series "The Bear." In the show, Abby plays Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, who is the coowner of The Beef restaurant. "It's really exciting to be a part of something that has touched so many people," Abby said about her involvement on the show during an August 2022 episode of "The Last Laugh" podcast. Led by Fran Drescher's Fran Fine, The Nanny cast is composed of veteran actors from both television and film. The classic '90s sitcom The Nanny aired for six seasons and over 140 episodes on CBS between 1993 and 1999. It was the show that made star Fran Drescher a household name. Co-created with her then-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, The Nanny was partly inspired by a trip Drescher took to London to visit her former Princesses co-star Twiggy. After spending a lot of time with the British model-actress' kids, Drescher got the idea for a show riffing on The Sound Of Music but with her as a nanny instead of some Julie Andrews type.
And so The Nanny was born, with Drescher starring as Fran – the loud-mouthed nanny to the three children of a stuffy British widower and Broadway producer living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. It was a role that...

Exclusive: Before Kevin Hart was a top comedian, a global movie star and a media mogul, he was a lost 20-year-old in Philly working at a sneaker shop in a 90s mall. That early chapter in Hart’s life is the inspiration for True To Size, a half-hour single camera comedy, which, in a competitive situation, has landed at Peacock for development. The project hails from stand-up comedian and writer Dan Levy (The Goldbergs), Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions, Doug Robinson and Sony Pictures Television, where Robinson and his Drp Productions are based.
Hart has spoken openly about his stint as a sneaker salesman, which he took very seriously at the time and strived to be the best at despite only taking the job to make his mom happy and keep him out of trouble. The gig would eventually change his life when the store manager convinced him to try standup at an open mic.

In recent years, class has been the great unspoken element of TV family comedies.
The genre that gave us the Bundys, the Conners and the Simpsons — all families who were whose neighborhoods lay an unbridgeable distance from great wealth — had moved, in the past decade, onto “Modern Family’s” Pritchetts and “Black-ish’s” Johnsons. These families, the standard-bearers for the family sitcom in the 2010s, had enough concerns to fuel multiseason runs, but money rarely seemed to be one. This left on the table one of the major stories of American family life in an age of increasing precarity, and also created a strange sort of airless feeling. If these folks could afford to do anything, where was the tension?
If nothing else, it’s refreshing to see the sitcom take up social class as a concern once again. The next step is to come up with something worth saying.

After a series of hit shows that streamed on their platform, Sony Liv is now gearing up for their next big one, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. Expected to arrive in early October, the web series is special since it is based on the true story of stock broker Harshad Mehta, who had made headlines back in 1992 when the big stock market scam ranging in thousands of crores was unveiled.
There was good intrigue created around mid-August itself when the teaser of the web series was revealed. With director Hansal Mehta at the helm of affairs, one was rest assured that there would be quite some content coupled with style that would be the hallmark of Scam 1992. Moreover, to bring in good realism in this fact meets fiction tale, Gujarati actor Pratik Gandhi is the chosen one to enact the part of Harshad Mehta.

NBC has opted not to renew family drama Council of Dads, sources confirm to Deadline. The decision comes two episodes before the end of the drama’s Season 1 run. Co-star J. August Richards revealed the cancellation in an Instagram post, noting that “tonight is my favorite episode of the season!!!” (You can read his message to fans below)
Council of Dads premiered on March 24 following the season finale of This Is Us. It was the second consecutive drama series in the mold of This Is Us launched by NBC that did not go beyond one season, following last season’s The Village. Council of Dads ranks as one of NBC’s lowest rated drama series of the season. It joins fellow freshman NBC series Bluff City Law, Lincoln Rhyme, Perfect Harmony, Indebted and Sunnyside which all have been canceled. The one NBC first-year scripted show to make it to Season 2 is Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.

With production slowly but surely getting underway on TV shows that were shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic, NBC has announced its fall schedule.
Unlike Fox and The CW, the network is planning on bringing back much of its original programming later this year, with one new drama joining the fall lineup.
Law & Order: Organized Crime is the Svu spinoff starring Christopher Meloni, and it will be paired with its parent series on Thursday nights.
This will allow the two shows to have natural crossovers in a similar way to the #OneChicago franchise on Wednesday nights.
Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. will be staying put on Wednesdays, which makes sense.
All three have posted solid ratings, so NBC does not need to do anything with them.

NBC has picked up a third season of missing plane drama series Manifest, from Jeff Rake and Warner Bros. TV.
The season 2 finale drew solid numbers, earning a 0.8 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.58 million viewers, with the series averaging a 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers in live plus seven, according to Nielsen.
Deadline understands that the renewal came down to the wire as the network and the studio, in this case Warner Bros Television, worked out financial details.
Clearly influenced by the mystery of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, in Manifest, when Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. Yet in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years and their friends, families and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on. Now, faced with the impossible, they’re all given a second chance.

NBC has decided that “Manifest”‘s destiny is to have a third season.
The network has renewed the drama for a third season, while at the same time sources have confirmed to to Variety that a trio of its freshman series, namely “Sunnyside,” “Bluff City Law” and “Indebted,” have all been canceled after a single season.
“Manifest” centers around the crew and passengers of Flight 828 who disembark after a turbulent flight to find the world has aged five-and-a-half years and their friends, families and colleagues had given up hope of ever seeing them again. Now, faced with the impossible, the passengers’ dreams of a second chance at life evaporate as they encounter the imminent danger surrounding them, both tangible and unexplained. NBC has finalized decisions on some of its remaining shows, picking up another season of “Manifest” and cancelling “Indebted,” “Bluff City Law” and “Sunnyside,” TheWrap has learned
The network, which has not yet unveiled its fall schedule, has held off on making renewal and cancellation decisions this year beyond the typical May upfronts deadline, with the freshman drama “Council of Dads” still in limbo as its 10-episode season finishes out its run.
The cancellations for “Sunnyside” and “Bluff City Law” come long after both shows were taken off the network’s schedule. “Sunnyside” was moved to digital last fall after a handful of episodes, while “Bluff City” law was passed over for a full-season pickup in November. “Indebted” completed airing its 12-episode season in April.

NBC has announced the fate of two bubble shows, and it's not good news.
The Peacock network has canceled Lincoln Rhyme and Perfect Harmony after their freshman runs.
Lincoln Rhyme starred Grimm's Russell Hornsby as the titular criminal profiler, who became paralyzed after a run-in with a serial murderer known as The Bone Collector years before the series started.
When The Bone Collector became active again, Lincoln was called back into service, with his police partner Amelia (played by The Vampire Diaries' Arielle Kebbel) playing his right hand in the quest to find and take down the killer.
Across its 10-episode run, Lincoln Rhyme averaged a 0.5 demo rating and 3.7 million total viewers. These were decent numbers for Friday, so the series was thought to be in the running for a renewal.

Perfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector will not be returning to NBC.
The broadcaster has canceled both the freshman comedy and freshman drama series.
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, which launched in January, ran for 10 episodes and is based on Jeffrey Deaver’s Bone Collector book series. May is almost over, and NBC is yet to announce the fate of several bubble shows.
Typically, these decisions are already made by now, but this is no normal year.

The shows in limbo are:

- Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist
- Lincoln Rhyme: The Hunt for the Bone Collector
- Council of Dads

NBC, which opened the 2020 renewal season with a massive three-season pickup for New Amsterdam back in January, still has quite a few shows on the bubble.
Leading the pack is sparkly newcomer Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, a co-production between Lionsgate TV and Universal TV. The musical dramedy has a passionate following and just topped USA Today’s annual Save Our Shows poll with record support.
It has a lot in common with Sunday night companion Good Girls. Both are female-driven vehicles that combine drama and comedy, and both get the bulk of their ratings from delayed and digital viewing. One thing that separates the two is that Good Girls, fully owned by NBCUniversal via producing studio Universal TV, has a lucrative Netflix library streaming deal, which sealed another renewal for the caper earlier this month.

Since mid-March, the coronavirus pandemic has upended every aspect of life in the United States, causing stay-at-home mandates in most states in an attempt to contain the spread of Covid-19.
As a consequence, the entertainment industry — a multi-billion-dollar global business — has come to a grinding halt, with every television show and movie indefinitely shut down, putting most of the tens of thousands of people employed by those productions out of work. The shutterings hit the broadcast networks — Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, and The CW — toward the end of the traditional TV season, so some shows had already completed production before the summer hiatus. Others — such as ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” which had shot 21 episodes of its 25-episode order — simply had to adjust accordingly, concluding its season early on April 9.
The bigger concern for the networks is what to do with their fall 2020 schedules, which under normal circumstances would have been unveiled to advertisers,...

There are two nights left to count until the 2019-2020 television season is in the books and, as usual, some shows had a better year than others. This time around, broadcast’s lowest-rated entertainment series among adults 18-49, which is the demographic beloved by advertisers, was the Melissa McCarthy-hosted kids’ talent show “Little Big Shots,” with several series tying for second-to-last place. Click through TheWrap’s gallery to see this season’s 22 lowest-rated broadcast TV shows ranked by their “most current” Nielsen ratings, which include a week’s worth of delayed viewing where available. For the purposes of this story, we elected not to count shows on The CW and newsmagazines like “20/20,” “48 Hours” and “Dateline,” which would have gobbled up several slots. The list goes highest to lowest and there are ties.

NBC has renewed the dramedy series “Good Girls” for a fourth season, Variety has learned exclusively.
The news comes after the show’s third season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, which forced many productions to fall short of their episode orders after production was suspended across the board. Thus Season 3 of the show only consisted of 11 episodes, with the finale airing on May 3.
The series has averaged a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall in the Nielsen Live+7 ratings. It has performed well in multi-platform viewing, with the first two seasons currently available on Netflix.
It stars Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman along with Reno Wilson, Manny Montana, Lidya Jewett, Isaiah Stannard and Matthew Lillard. Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs write and executive produce. Michael Weaver directs and executive produces, with Mark Wilding also executive producing. Universal Television is the studio.

We are headed into what may be the most surreal couple of weeks yet in the TV business during the coronavirus pandemic. The broadcast networks are expected to step up their renewals for next season while also making some straight-to-series orders to (mostly) unproduced pilots.
But, as the Covid-19-related Hollywood shutdown is approaching the two-month mark, there are more cuts looming. Creators and producers, who normally sit by the phone this time of year, anxiously waiting to find out whether their pilot has been picked up or whether their show has been renewed, may be dreading calls from their studios even more this time because it could be the news that their overall deal has been terminated. The force majeure axe is expected to start falling soon, with dozens of writer and non-writing producer pacts possibly suspended or killed.

ABC provided a spoonful of sugar to make the self-isolation medicine go down on Thursday night with the “Disney Family Singalong,” which scored massive numbers for the network.
The singalong scored a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49, more than doubling its nearest competitors on the night, and drew 10.3 million total viewers. That rating is the largest Live+Same Day number scored by any show since the Oscars. The show was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and featured a star-studded lineup of performances from the likes of Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, and Christina Aguilera, and fans were even treated so a small cameo from Beyonce. It was followed by an episode of “Station 19” in a new time slot, which scored a 1.3 rating and just under 7 million total viewers. “How to Get Away With Murder” rounded off the night with a 0.6 and 3.1 million viewers.

Comcast and NBCUniversal are pushing Peacock out of the nest starting Wednesday, April 15, promising to unfurl a rich plume of 15,000-plus hours of streaming content, first for the cable giant’s own TV and internet customers.
Peacock is then slated to be available across the U.S. on July 15 — while NBCU is mulling the possibility of moving that up sooner — in various three tiers across mobile, web and connected-tv devices: paid with ads ($4.99 monthly); paid with no ads ($9.99 monthly); and completely free with ads with a truncated content lineup. With the national launch, Comcast (and Cox) subscribers also will have the option to get an ad-free version of the service for an additional $5 per month.
So what’s on the menu? Peacock will include live and on-demand content across current and past TV shows, movies, news, and late night programming, with some live sports once they resume post-pandemic. Most of...
