The hit TV show began in 1991 on the Syndication network, and won everyone's hearts with its unique concept. Maury featured radio reporter and television personality Maurice Richard Povich, who invited and interviewed various guests to discuss their issues. When we meet the Austrian actor, who plays Albert Hirschman in Netflix’s new international series, he’s a bedraggled refugee, stumbling down the hill toward the beach at Marseilles, the “last free port” in Nazi-occupied France, circa 1940. Spotting the waters of the Mediterranean, he stops. Then breaks into a run. French sales company will show first trailer for drama about rise and fall of infamous Antwerp mega-club.

Paris-based Indie Sales will launch sales on Belgian director Robin Pront’s thriller Zillion, inspired by the rise and fall of the legendary Antwerp club of the same name, at next week’s online European Film Market.

Running from 1997 to 2002, the venue was the brainchild of the controversial tech entrepreneur and dance music lover Frank Verstraeten. It was one of the first mega-clubs that sprang up in Benelux in the late 1990s and drew clubbers from across the region and beyond until it closed under a cloud.

Social drama revolves around an 11-year-old boy living in a mobile home with his mother on the edge of the woods.

France tv distribution has boarded sales on French director Fabienne Berthaud’s upcoming social drama Little Man Tom and Sylvie Audcoeur’s psychological thriller An Ordinary Mother, starring Karin Viard.

The film and TV sales division of French state broadcaster will introduce both titles to the market at the upcoming EFM (March 1-5).

Little Man Tom is the fifth feature of writer and director Berthaud and follows her 2019 Mongolia-set drama A Bigger World.

French company launched a trio of upcoming titles at AFM’s virtual edition.

France’s Snd has unveiled a raft of deals out of this year’s online American Film Market (November 9-13).

The feature film arm of the M6 broadcasting group launched a trio of new titles including children’s animation Pil’s Adventures and Jérôme Salle’s political thriller Kompromat, which is currently shooting.

Pil’s Adventures has sold to Spain (Big Picture Films), Portugal (Cinemundo), Russia/ex-Cis (Central Partnership), Baltics (Acme Film), Scandinavia (Mis Label), Israel (Lev), ex-Yugoslavia (Blitz), Taiwan (Moviecloud) and Middle East (Salim Ramia).

Wild Bunch TV is set to launch three new series, “Crisis Unit,” “Fragile” and “We Are Now,” at MIPCOM and the Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo (Mia) in Rome.

Created and directed by Jacob Berger, “Crisis Unit” is a political thriller set in the murky underworld of the humanitarian industry in Yemen. Starring Isabelle Caillat and André Dussollier, it explores the complexity of humanitarian work through the eyes of an inexperienced young woman suddenly thrust into a geopolitical crisis. The series is produced by Tipimages and Entre Chien et Loup for Swiss public broadcaster Radio Télévision Suisse (Rts).

“Fragile” is a crime series created and directed by Serge Boucher, featuring a cast that includes Cesar Award winner Marc-André Grondin and Pier-Luc Funk. It tells the story of two families—the wealthy, influential Bachands and the salt-of-the-earth Coutures—suddenly rocked by a pair of mysterious deaths. “Fragile” is produced by Amalga Productions for Ici.
