‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’ Trailer Unleashes Terror and An Evil Raccoon in the First Horror Movie For the Franchise (Exclusive)
Image
The Hellboy universe just added a new creepy-crawlie to their list of spooky things to freak you out, a raccoon that skitters into your room while you sleep, and climbs Into Your Mouth thus possessing your body with its trash panda spirit. At least, that’s what opens in the brand new “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” trailer that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con.

The brand-new Big Red, Jack Kesy, made his first public appearance as the newly rebooted Hellboy. Kesy joined castmates Jefferson White (“Yellowstone”), Adeline Rudolph (“Resident Evil”), director Brian Taylor and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, the gang tickeld the crowd with a new look at the third iteration of this beloved monster.

The new film is based off the beloved “Crooked Man” comic storyline (also penned by Mignola). A book that is 100% spooky has hell, which is exactly what the new crew wants. Variety is exclusively debuting the...

Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in Resident Evil (2002)
Resident Evil 9 is in development, Capcom confirms
Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in Resident Evil (2002)
Koshi Nakanashi, who directed 2017’s Resident Evil 7, is to take the lead on Resident Evil 9, which is now in development according to Capcom.

Japanese studio Capcom has made a huge success out of its remakes of bygone Resident Evil games, with last year’s Resident Evil 4 picking up awards and breaking sales records for its sensitive updating of the 2005 classic.

Capcom is also looking to the survival horror series’ future, however, having just confirmed that it’s currently working on Resident Evil 9 – the first proper sequel since 2021’s Resident Evil Village. Development will be headed up by Koshi Nakanashi, who previously directed 2017’s Resident Evil: Biohazard.

Shifting the series’ perspective from third- to first-person, Biohazard was widely regarded as a leaner, scarier return to form following the increasingly action-focused Resident Evil 5 and 6.

Capcom Working On "At Least 5" New Resident Evil Games (But What Are They?)
Image
A leaker claims that there are currently five Resident Evil games in development, including the next main title, Resident Evil 9. In addition to new entries in the main series, potential games could include various remakes of older Resident Evil games. A new installment in the Revelations spinoff series, or a multiplayer co-op game are also possible.

There may be a lot more Resident Evil on the way. Capcom successfully revived the dormant franchise in 2017, with the groundbreaking Resident Evil: Biohazard. It followed up with a series of remakes, retelling the series’ early years through 2023's remake of Resident Evil 4, and a direct sequel in Resident Evil Village. The past few years have delivered an embarrassment of riches to Resident Evil fans, but since Re Village's decisive ending and cryptic post-credits scene, one has to question what's coming next for the series.

That question may have just been answered by leaker Dusk Golem,...

Resident Evil Season 2 Would Have Saved Netflix's Adaptation
Image
The first series was critically derided, but the canceled second season of Netflix's Resident Evil may just have saved it. Between the movies and Netflix's TV adaptation, there have been eight live-action attempts at Resident Evil. Of those many outings, only 2021 film reboot Welcome To Raccoon City came close to being a faithful adaptation of the original games. Pretty much none of these live-action Resident Evils have received good critical notices either, with the Netflix show being on the receiving end of some particularly scathing reviews over its lack of connection to the games, writing and performances.

This is despite the fact Netflix's canceled Resident Evil used the story of the video games as backstory for the show, and featured callbacks to key events and characters. Regardless, the series received backlash from the very beginning over its casting choices and an uneasy mixture of teenage drama and post-apocalyptic adventure.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Made The Scariest Monster Even More Terrifying
Image
As terrifying as its original version was, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has gone above and beyond in making one monster scarier than ever. The remake has introduced a number of new enemies to the village, some of which are completely unique, and others based on scrapped designs from the original Resident Evil 4. Enemies are, on the whole, smarter, tougher, and faster than ever before.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake has some of the goriest visuals in the Resident Evil series to date, and its new enemy types fit right in. The more realistically writhing tentacles that sprout from ganados' heads, the enormous, gnashing teeth of the relentless wolves, the leathery, wrinkled skin of the gigantes - all make for a more viscerally terrifying experience. One updated enemy, however, does more than most to get players' adrenaline pumping.

‘The 7th Guest’ Remains a Landmark Fmv Horror Title, Despite its Age
Image
We all have those games. You know, the ones you played growing up that you absolutely loved and defended fanatically, only to find out years later that the game you cherished when you were younger wasn’t actually that good? It’s probably not the way you’d want to start off talking about Trilobyte’s The 7th Guest, 30 years after its release. After all, unlike some games today that have been totally obscured by nostalgia, The 7th Guest is a landmark title. The game was one of the first to help usher in the CD format, which subsequently unleashed the era of Fmv-based games that still has entries being released today. But even with that noteworthy achievement, just how kind has time been to The 7th Guest after all this time?

The 7th Guest‘s story begins in 1935, in the town of Harley-on-the-Hudson. A man named Henry Stauf kills...

Michelle Rodriguez says she shut down James Cameron’s recent offer of Avatar 3 return
Image
Michelle Rodriguez has explained why she’s turned down James Cameron’s offer to return in Avatar.

The Lost actor, who stars in new film Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, played Trudy in the Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster.

However, she does not appear in sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, as her character died in the original.

But this hasn’t stopped Cameron from considering bringing back Trudy in one of the forthcoming instalments, which are scheduled to be released over the next four years.

Rodriguez revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that Cameron said he floated the idea of Trudy’s resurrection by her, but that she stopped him in his tracks.

“Dude, when I saw Jim [Cameron] recently, he was like, ‘I was thinking, ‘What if Michelle came back? A lot of the other characters came back,’” she said, adding: “I was like, ‘You can’t do that – I died as a martyr.

Michelle Rodriguez Keeps Proving The Resident Evil Films Wasted Her
Image
Despite appearing in two of the films, Michelle Rodriguez keeps proving all the ways the Resident Evil franchise wasted her. Rodriguez first broke through with her lead turn in 2000's Girlfight and swiftly appeared in back-to-back hits like The Fast And The Furious and S.W.A.T. The actor has stayed consistently busy in the decades since, ranging from the highs of the later Fast & Furious sequels and Avatar to the lows of 2016's turgid The Assignment. Despite this track record, Rodriquez has yet to receive a franchise built around her.

One of her earliest, post-Girlfight roles came with 2002's Resident Evil, based on Capcom's hit video game. The original was sold as a two-hander between Rodriguez and Milla Jovovich's Alice, with the former playing a commando whose team ends up trapped in an underground lab filled with zombies. The film ended with the death of her character Rain after she turns into a zombie,...

Where To Find The Wrench In Resident Evil 4 Remake
Image
Quick Links How To Kill The Regeneradors In The Incubation Lab How To Use The Wrench

To rescue Ashley in Chapter 13 of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, players must track down the Wrench to upgrade their laboratory keycard. Upgrading the keycard involves entering a gauntlet of hostile bioweapons, searching for the right tools, and solving some of Resident Evil’s notoriously tricky puzzles. The Wrench is essential to getting the Level 3 Keycard Upgrade, but players may have trouble finding it without searching in a rather unexpected location.

An essential clue to finding the Wrench can be found at the back of the Incubation Lab, where players will find a locked terminal that will allow them to upgrade their keycards to Level 3. A nearby note will tell players where to look: one of the Regeneradors being kept in cold storage in the purple tanks outside consumed the Wrench, and players will...

Michelle Rodriguez Turned Down Avatar Sequels Because She's Done Coming Back From The Dead
Image
Now, we don't know what the residual details are like for any of the actors in James Cameron's "Avatar" films, but considering both movies are currently in the top 5 highest-grossing films in history, everyone on screen is likely getting a pretty nice payday for their participation. Getting to appear in any of the "Avatar" films would be a dream come true for plenty of folks, but Michelle Rodriguez — who played combat pilot Trudy Chacón in the first film — has no interest in returning to the beautiful world of Pandora. In case you've forgotten, Chacón was a sympathetic figure to the Na'vi in "Avatar," and ends up sacrificing herself during an extremely emotional moment in the final battle to help save the extraterrestrial humanoids of the moon jungle.

In most movies, death marks the end of a character's journey, but James Cameron doesn't limit his storytelling with silly constraints like mortality.

The Reason Michelle Rodriguez Shot Down James Cameron’s Idea For Her Return To The ‘Avatar’ Franchise
Image
Michelle Rodridguez had an invitation from director James Cameron to return to the “Avatar” franchise — but shot it down.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair to promote her latest, “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”, Rodriguez recalled a conversation she about her “Avatar” character, Trudy Chacón, who heroically sacrifices her life for the greater good.

“Dude, when I saw Jim [Cameron] recently, he was like, ‘I was thinking, “What if Michelle came back? A lot of the other characters came back [in ‘The Way of Water’].”‘ I was like, ‘You can’t do that — I died as a martyr,’” she said.

Michelle Rodriguez chooses not to return to Avatar because it’s overkill for her to return from the dead again
Image
Michelle Rodriguez’s characters often refuse to stay dead. Because of this, she now refuses to come back to life. You gotta hand it to her, turning down an Avatar payday in favor of principle is pretty dignified. Variety recently reports on the Fast & Furious star as she encountered James Cameron and he pitches her an idea. What if her character in Avatar somehow returned in a future sequel? Rodriguez feels it would be overkill, because she’s already had three movie franchises that has brought her back from the dead.

Rodriguez played a human ally in the first Avatar in 2009. Her character, Trudy Chacón, was a pilot who aided the Na’vi in their defense against the human attack and would get slain during the battle. Cameron has stated before that one regret he has is killing off her character. “Dude, when I saw Jim [Cameron] recently, he was like,...

Tetris Is One Of The Greatest Video Game Movies Ever Made – In A Roundabout Way
Image
Video games have been a huge part of popular culture for decades now, particularly following the home console boom in the '80s. In all that time, few games have endured quite like "Tetris" has. It's become an absolute staple of this era, with people playing the simple yet addicting game for hours on end on the original Game Boy, the Nes, or at their nearest arcade. So, perhaps it's only fitting that, in an era when video game movies are finally starting to click in a real way, this beloved title would finally get the big screen treatment. No, it's not an adaptation. Rather, it's more of a biopic in the form of director Jon S. Baird's "Tetris," which arrives on Apple TV+ this week. In a roundabout way, it instantly earns its place as one of the greatest video game movies to date.

"Tetris" is an incredibly...

Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to Find (& Unlock) the Rocket Launcher

Quick Links How To Get The Rocket Launcher How To Use The Rocket Launcher

The explosive power of the Rocket Launcher returns in Resident Evil 4 Remake as one of the most damaging weapons players can find and unlock throughout the story. Arguably no other firearm carries the most destruction against the hordes of enemies Leon encounters, but the gun does have glaring weaknesses that could give players pause. However, no other weapon in the game works better against bosses or tougher foes seen later on, as its incredible damage cannot be ignored.

The Rocket Launcher becomes available during Chapter 4, but players must accomplish a few tasks before it unlocks completely. First, Leon has to fuel the boat and kill the Del Largo Lake Monster before the weapon in question appears. Players can improve tools they have acquired up to this point to fight the boss, including purchasing weapon upgrades from...

Michelle Rodriguez didn't want Avatar character to come back from the dead: 'It would be overkill'

Michelle Rodriguez declined James Cameron's offer to bring her 'Avatar' character back from the dead. The 44-year-old star thought it would be "overkill" if her alter-ego Captain Trudy Chacon - who passed away in the 2009 original movie 'Avatar' - reappeared in a future film, because her characters in 'Resident Evil', 'Fast and Furious', and 'Machete' had already returned when they "weren't supposed to". She told Vanity Fair magazine: "Dude, when I saw Jim recently, he was like, 'I was thinking, What if Michelle came back? Michelle Rodriguez Refused to Return to ‘Avatar’ Franchise: It Would Be ‘Overkill’ to Resurrect Character
Image
Michelle Rodriguez doesn’t think Hollywood knows what to do with her.

The franchise staple actress, most famously in the decades-spanning “Fast and Furious” universe, recalled turning down appearing in “Avatar: The Way of Water” after her character Trudy Chacón died in the first 2009 film. Trudy (Rodriguez) is a combat pilot working for the government Avatar Program who dies in battle after sacrificing her life to support the Indigenous Na’vi of Pandora.

Rodriguez denied appearing again in the franchise and told “Avatar: The Way of Water” director James Cameron why.

“Dude, when I saw Jim [Cameron] recently, he was like, ‘I was thinking, “What if Michelle came back? A lot of the other characters came back [in “The Way of Water”],'” Rodriguez told Vanity Fair. “I was like, ‘You can’t do that — I died as a martyr.'”

Michelle Rodriguez Told James Cameron Not To Bring Avatar's Trudy Back
Image
Avatar star Michelle Rodriguez has explained why her character, Trudy Chacón, won't come back in the upcoming Avatar sequels. A no-nonsense pilot for the Rda, Trudy developed a sympathetic view of the Na'vi, going as far as to betray humanity in a fight to fend off Quaritch and his troops from leveling Pandora's forests to mine Unobtanium. Trudy sacrifices herself in the final battle while protecting Pandroa from human intervention and abuse.

Speaking to Variety, Rodriguez revealed that she asked Avatar writer-director James Cameron not to include Trudy in any of the film franchise's sequels. She explained that she didn't want to dampen Trudy's sacrifice, citing the multiple times when characters in films she's starred in have been brought back from the dead. Check out what Rodriguez had to say below:

Why Michelle Rodriguez Rejected James Cameron’s Offer to Rejoin Avatar Films: “That Would Be Overkill”
Image
Michelle Rodriguez has refused to let James Cameron even entertain the idea of bringing her back to the Avatar series, citing too many resurrections of her past characters in other film franchises.

The Fast and Furious actress was apparently unmoved by the record-breaking box office hauls of the 2009 film in which she played the sympathetic, pro-Na’vi combat pilot Trudy Chacón, and its similarly successful 2022 sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. So, she recalled to Vanity Fair, when she ran into Cameron and he told her “‘I was thinking, “What if Michelle came back? A lot of the other characters came back [in The Way of Water].”‘ I was like, ‘You can’t do that — I died as a martyr.'”

Aside from not wanting to tarnish the noble ending given to her character, Rodriguez’s insistence was both a career and creative-based decision. She says that she told Cameron, “‘I came back in Resident Evil,...

Bloodsucking Darkness: Junji Ito manga getting live-action adaptation from Fangoria Studios
Image
For genre fans who grew up in the 1980s and ’90s, Fangoria will always be one of the biggest names in horror. While under control of various owners, the Fangoria brand has weaved in and out of the movie world over the decades – and the latest iteration of Fangoria launched Fangoria Studios in 2021 “to develop and produce film, television and podcasts.” Now Variety reports that Fangoria Studios is developing a live-action feature film adaptation of the manga Bloodsucking Darkness, created by Junji Ito, with The Haunting of Hill House writer Jeff Howard working on the screenplay. The search for a director is now underway.

Apparently also known as Blood Slurping Darkness, Ito’s manga is a twisted vampire story that centers on a young woman who develops an eating disorder after her boyfriend breaks up with her. She meets a boy who is concerned about her weight loss… and then...

‘Resident Evil 4’ Should Be the Next TV Video Game Adaptation
Image
Resident Evil has received more game-to-screen adaptations than any other video game franchise that’s not targeted at children, with five animated films, a Netflix live-action series, a saga of six live-action movies, and a film reboot that failed in the eyes of fans and critics, alike. For some reason, the execs in Hollywood and at Capcom can never get it right and invest in adapting Resident Evil 4 with Leon as the main character, off to rescue the president’s daughter from Plagas-infected Spaniards. The original Resident Evil 4 from 2005 is considered a masterpiece in the gaming community, and its current 2023 remake has received worldwide acclaim. Both titles tell the story of a former Raccoon City police rookie, Leon S. Kennedy, now a U.S. spy, on a mission to save Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter, from a religious cult in rural Spain. Michelle Rodriguez Won’t Let James Cameron Put Her in ‘Avatar’ Sequels: It’s ‘Overkill’ to Come Back From the Dead Again
Image
Most actors would jump at the chance to star in sequels to the highest-grossing movie of all time. Michelle Rodriguez clearly isn’t most actors. The “Fast & Furious” favorite revealed to Vanity Fair that she told James Cameron he couldn’t bring her “Avatar” character back from the dead because that’s already happened three times in her career. A fourth time would be “overkill,” Rodriguez told the blockbuster filmmaker.

Rodriguez made her “Avatar” debut in Cameron’s 2009 original. She played Trudy Chacón, a combat pilot working for the Avatar Program who is sympathetic to the Na’vi. Trudy sacrifices her life in battle to ensure the Na’vi prevail over the villainous humans trying to take control of Pandora.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Already Has The Perfect Story Dlc Lined Up
Image
The remake of Resident Evil 4 has been released to an overall positive reception, and the game has also set itself up well for future Dlc. As a modernized take on one of the Resident Evil franchise's most beloved classic entries, the Resident Evil 4 remake follows many of the same beats as the original game with a few surprising additions, following in the same vein as previous remakes for Resident Evil 2 and 3.

While Resident Evil 4's remake is mostly faithful to the original, there are a few notable missing aspects from the 2005 classic. Some set pieces, sections, or boss fights have been shifted around or outright removed in the remake, although usually replaced by new or updated content, and as a whole, the game takes on a somewhat more serious tone (although it still retains much of the original's cheesy dialogue). Perhaps more notably, however, the...

Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to Unlock the Bolt Thrower
Image
A brand-new weapon in Resident Evil 4 Remake called the Bolt Thrower gives players a unique option when approaching combat should they unlock this modified crossbow. Unlike many other firearms in the game, the Bolt Thrower relies on physical shots rather than packs of ammunition, making it a reliable weapon that doesn't take up much inventory space. Found relatively early into the game, players can use this weapon to add more versatility to their combat against the horrific enemies Leon encounters.

The Bolt Thrower plays very differently through its ammunition type, as it fires objects called bolts at enemies from mid to close ranges. A stark contrast to the rare Magnum ammo seen on guns like the Broken Butterfly in RE4 Remake, these bolts can be picked up after players fire them, even off enemy targets. The ability to recycle ammo becomes extremely useful the further into the story players get,...

Z Nation: Why Was The Syfy Series Cancelled?
Image
Syfy's Z Nation was canceled after five seasons despite there being notable demand online for Z Nation season six. Before The Walking Dead, the idea of a zombie TV show becoming a major hit seemed unlikely. The zombie movie genre had been largely dormant when it was given a major shot in the arm with 2002's 28 Days Later and Resident Evil, and it wasn't long until the hordes were on the march again in every medium. The Walking Dead proved zombies and TV were a match made in heaven, and before long, more zombie shows, like Z Nation, emerged. Unlike The Walking Dead though, Z Nation season 6 and beyond never saw the light of day. So why was Z Nation canceled despite having a loyal fanbase?

The Walking Dead grew to become a huge franchise, spawning multiple spin-off shows, and video games. One thing the show has been routinely criticized over,...

'George Romero's Resident Evil' Trailer Revisits the Cancelled Adaptation

Video game adaptations have never had the best reputation in the film industry. Before HBO's universally acclaimed The Last of Us series and the box office hit Sonic the Hedgehog films, studios struggled to give the medium's best stories proper representation on the big or small screen. One adaptation that never saw the light of day, however, had the chance to change everything - a Resident Evil film by the master of zombies that inspired the games, George A. Romero. Now, a documentary, appropriately titled George Romero's Resident Evil, will explore what could've been in that mythical film, and a new trailer teases the wild story.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Has Made Weapons Upgrades Pointless
Image
Throwing hundreds of thousands of pesetas at upgrading weapons is a thing of the past in the Resident Evil 4 remake. The Resident Evil 4 remake, like the original, features the ability to upgrade weapons by speaking with the roaming Merchant. Players can choose from one of four stats to upgrade each time: power (damage), ammo capacity, reload speed, or rate of fire. Each upgrade costs at least a few thousand pesetas, and the higher level the upgrade, the greater the cost. However, since there are some 28 weapons to collect, most weapons will be replaced by superior versions at some point in the game, so it's not necessarily worth fully upgrading the first shotgun, for example.

Besides the regular stat boosts, many of the weapons in the remake of Resident Evil 4 also have Exclusive Upgrades. These are unique to each weapon, and usually compensate for a specific drawback or...

The Cqbr Assault Rifle is a new addition to the weapon arsenal of Resident Evil 4 Remake, giving players a highly effective, rapid-fire gun they can find and unlock later in the game's story. One of the most powerful weapons players can discover, this Assault Rifle tears through enemies fast, making it a great option against the swarms of foes Leon encounters. However, this weapon does not reveal itself easily, as players will have to open up the path to it when playing as Ashley beforehand.

Players can unlock the Cqbr Assault Rifle within Chapters 9 and 10 of the story by finding a hidden area toward the end of the former chapter. This weapon is described as "A fully automatic rifle. Its optimal barrel length balances power and weight to allow for accurate shooting," which...

New Teaser for ‘George A. Romero’s Resident Evil’ Documentary Is a Treat for Fans [Video]
Those of you waiting on an update on director Brandon Salisbury‘s upcoming George A. Romero’s Resident Evil documentary since it was announced way back in September are in for a treat. Courtesy of the folks over at Residence of Evil, the documentary on the “What if?” of George Romero’s Resident Evil film now has a teaser trailer, and aims to “immerse the audience in a cinematic horror aesthetic.”

Salisbury stated that he wanted to pay homage to Romero’s style and the game itself with the documentary, which is listed as “Coming Soon”. As a result, the documentary takes place in a mansion that echoes the look of Resident Evil‘s Spencer Mansion, and is shot to mimic Romero’s style.

Mixed with clips from Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead and Capcom’s Survival Horror classic, the teaser also features voice clips from newly-filmed...

Resident Evil 4 Remake Final Boss & Ending Explained (In Detail)
Image
The plot-driven Resident Evil 4 remake culminates in a spectacular, adrenaline-pumping climax, so it's easy to miss certain details in the heat of the moment. The ending wraps up the main story, showing the final outcome of Leon Kennedy's mission to rescue the US President's daughter, Ashley Graham. The final boss also closes the book on the fight against Lord Osmund Saddler and his brainwashed, parasite-infected zealots. The ending also prominently features recurring Resident Evil character Ada Wong, and hints at what's coming next for all three main characters - even if it doesn't provide all the answers.

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for the remake of Resident Evil 4.]

The final chapter of the Resident Evil 4 remake takes place in and around an island lab facility, where the parasite Lord Saddler used to take control of the villagers was developed. Leon arrives there in pursuit of Major Jack Krauser, his former commanding officer. There, it's revealed that Krauser was responsible for kidnapping Ashley,...

Resident Evil 4 Remake Is the Perfect Modern Resident Evil Game (For Better or Worse)
Image
I’ve long been one of those gamers who thinks that underachieving games with great ideas should get remakes rather than already great games. That argument doesn’t make much business sense (which is why it rarely happens), but the creative logic is sound. An incredible game is often only in need of a touch-up (if anything). Proper remakes sometimes feel like they should be reserved for games that had potential that is easier to see through modern eyes and with the help of modern technology. Of course, Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes have certainly challenged that seemingly sound theory.

2019’s Resident Evil 2 Remake was a revelation. I already considered Resident Evil 2 to be one of the best Resident Evil games ever (and one of the best survival horror games ever), so I obviously didn’t think it needed a remake. Yet, that remake’s stunning visuals,...

Where To Find a Gold Chicken Egg In Resident Evil 4 Remake
Image
As part of Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Egg Hunt quest, players are tasked with finding a special Gold Chicken Egg: a reference to a rare consumable in the original Resident Evil 4. Egg Hunt is a simple fetch quest, tasking players with finding the Gold Chicken Egg and selling it to the Merchant. Players will receive Spinels as a reward, allowing them to buy more of the Merchant’s special wares.

While exploring the village, players will come across some blue notices left behind by the Merchant, which request Leon’s help with completing various tasks. This includes shooting Blue Medallions in the Quarry or even killing specific mini-boss enemies. Players will find the notice that starts the Egg Hunt quest on a wall inside the village’s Mural Cave, which is the first location players should visit if they’d like to start this quest.

Return To Silent Hill: Everything We Know So Far
Image
It's about time for "Silent Hill" to make a comeback. The popular horror video game franchise is not only getting several new entries but also another film adaptation. "Return to Silent Hill" will become the third movie in the series, though it sounds as if director Christopher Gans is making more of a reboot than a proper sequel. The film will serve to accompany the upcoming video game titles in a massive wave of "Silent Hill" projects that publisher Konami announced last October.

The series revolves around the titular town of Silent Hill (located in Maine in the games and West Virginia in the movies), a place imbued with an ancient and terrible power that manifests its visitors' inner fears, traumas, and guilt in the form of misshapen creatures. Each entry follows a different character and their hellish adventures into Silent Hill, where they have to contend with the Order,...

Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Find The Broken Butterfly Magnum
Image
The Broken Butterfly magnum returns in Resident Evil 4 Remake. It is still the first available magnum for purchase, making it a reliable early boss killer. However, its stats have changed making it sit in a different class than the original 2005 version.

Magnums have a lot of raw firepower, but are slow and typically use rarer ammo. While the Broken Butterfly is fantastic against single tough enemies, it is not the most suited weapon for all situations. Players will also want to highly assess if a shotgun, rifle, or a multitude of grenades are a butter use of the Resident Evil 4 Remake attaché case.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Dlc - Release Date, Platforms, & Price
Image
On the very same day that the Resident Evil 4 remake was released, publisher Capcom pleasantly surprised fans by including at the end of their launch trailer a simple, yet exciting, announcement that The Mercenaries Dlc for the game will also be coming soon. This remake of the classic survival horror video game took the original 2005 version and updated it with advanced graphics and revamped much of the story to give it an even darker tone. Added side quests and changes to the more controversial pieces of the story of the original all come together to make this RE4 remake have many surprises, even for veterans of the series.

The original Resident Evil 4 included a minigame that could be unlocked called The Mercenaries, as well as other bonus games, Separate Ways and Assignment Ada. The RE4 remake's launch trailer, which debuted on the same day as the game's release,...

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Church Window Puzzle Solution
Image
The Resident Evil 4 Remake updates quite a few things about the original game, but some things never change. That means that you’ll still need to eventually solve a slightly modified version of that damn stained glass window puzzle in the church area.

This puzzle will almost certainly be one of the first major progression roadblocks for Resident Evil fans that always seem to struggle with this franchise’s sometimes frustrating riddles. While this particular puzzle will almost certainly drive those players mad at first, it turns out this puzzle is really just a matter of trial and error. If you’d rather skip all of those errors, though, then here’s exactly how to solve it.

How to Find the Blue Dial

To properly start the church window puzzle, you’ll first need to find the nearby blue dial that will let you actually interact with the stained glass window.

It’s no coincidence that Johnny & Clyde sounds a lot like Bonnie and Clyde. Helping to usher in a new level of violence in mainstream film Arthur Penn’s film is one of the most influential and imitated films of its time. One can draw a line from Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker to Mickey and Mallory Knox, Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers. And from there to the latest film from director Tom DeNucci and co-writer Nick Principe who is probably better known for lending his imposing presence to films like Laid to Rest and FP2: Beats of Rage.

How Long It Takes To Beat Resident Evil 4 Remake
Image
Discovering how long it takes to beat Resident Evil 4 Remake can be vital for some players before actually purchasing it. The remake of the classic Capcom game tells the story of Leon S. Kennedy during his adventures in Spain. There, while escorting Ashley Graham, he faces a new group of enemies that are infested by a parasite called Las Plagas. This life form makes the villagers extremely aggressive.

Due to its overall narrative structure and how the maps are placed, RE4 Remake is significantly longer than its predecessors, notably the popular Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. The title directed by Shinji Mikami initiated a new era in the franchise, with a different approach to the genre itself. Although Resident Evil 4 Remake changes the original gameplay in some aspects, its core and most of its story remain intact, which means it takes about the same amount of...

Resident Evil 4 Remake Can Fix RE4’s Saddler Mistake
Image
The upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 provides developers the opportunity to adjust the game to make up for the shortcomings of the original. Despite being a fan favorite, the original Resident Evil 4 was not without its flaws. While changes for Ashley seem to be more prominent, she isn't the only character who could use a revamp in the remake.

Throughout Resident Evil 4, Leon faces a variety of enemies that are a mixed result of Umbrella Corporation's experiments and a cult that formed in the area that would end up discovering Las Plagas, which it started to use in order to recruit new members. RE4 Remake trailers show story changes for characters like Luis, and this could lead to the game showing more depth with villains as well as those who help Leon along the way.

Best Game Franchises Never Made Into Movies
Image
The upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie is an example of how video game film adaptations are becoming more common occurrences, giving them a chance at a second life and new audience. Likewise, several games are themselves adaptations from existing IPs, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which spanned comics and TV before moving into games) or any of the Star Wars games, showing a strong connection between the two mediums. Despite the recent deluge of video games being adapted to films, there remain countless video game titles with compelling stories that have yet to be recreated for the silver screen.

Games like Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and Sonic: The Hedgehog have seen varying levels of success as faithful film adaptations of games in the past. Flops in box office figures and fan reception like Assassin's Creed and Warcraft, however, prove the necessity of taking the right care. Games suited to...

We Need A New Old-School Resident Evil Game
Image
Throughout the last few years, the Resident Evil franchise has been remaking its older games, but what the series truly needs is to release a new game created in Resident Evil's old-school style. While the previous remake games were released to great reviews and the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake is already getting a lot of buzz, a return to classic gameplay in a new Resident Evil game could be a unique and terrifying addition to the franchise that would both please the game's original fanbase and give newer players the chance to experience a game style they likely haven't played much before.

While some of the classic Resident Evil games are worth skipping, many are remembered fondly and quite literally helped build the foundations for the survival horror genre. Plus, when Resident Evil tried to infuse itself with more action instead of horror, as it did with Resident Evil 6,...

‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake Receiving Free VR Mode for PlayStation VR2
Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Fans of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake won’t have to wonder if the game will be getting a VR mode. With Resident Evil Village receiving its free VR upgrade yesterday, Capcom also announced via Twitter that RE4 will be getting a VR upgrade for the PlayStation VR2.

“The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 has begun development! Please look forward to more details in the future!” read the initial (translated) tweet from Resident Evil’s Japanese Twitter. Following that was a second tweet that read, “The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will be released as free downloadable content for PlayStation 5 / PlayStation VR2.”

From the sounds of things, the VR mode won’t be making it in time for the remake’s release on March 24, but one never knows.

In other Resident Evil 4 news, Game Informer continued their exclusive coverage of the remake with a new...

We’ve already seen multiple trailers teasing the animated adventure from Nintendo and Illumination. However, a new poster for the film is here to announce the date of the film’s final trailer!

The Super Mario Bros. poster features Mario (Chris Pratt), Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), and Cranky Kong (Fred Armisen) driving along Rainbow Road while avoiding Bob-ombs and Spiney Shells. Each character is piloting a vehicle from the ultra-popular Mario Kart video game franchise, as floating islands and stars hang in the sky. How Resident Evil 4 Changed The Survival Horror Genre Forever
Image
The revolutionary design of Resident Evil 4 changed the survival horror genre forever. The Resident Evil franchise has long been heralded as the flagship example of survival horror dating back to the original Resident Evil in 1996. But as this formula got stale, Resident Evil 4 was charged with revitalizing the series to prevent its cancelation. Re 4 did much more than that: It not only thrilled audiences, but created the template for every third-person shooter to follow.

[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the original Resident Evil 4 which are likely to feature in Resident Evil 4 Remake]

However, this shift drew criticism from some reviewers: Resident Evil 4 was accused of featuring a story with more action than horror. The action was pure schlock, with Leon giving one-liners, performing amazing feats of athleticism, and even addressing the camera in the opening cutscene. With Leon taking on this sardonic attitude, it’s hard to feel he’s ever in real peril.

10 PlayStation Franchises That Deserve A PS5 Comeback
Image
PlayStation is known for top-tier exclusive titles, but it also has various franchises - in some form or another - that should make their return as games for PS5. From PS1 onward, Sony's consoles have been home to various well-received series, whether first-party exclusives or prominent third-party titles.

In Sony's corner, Sly Cooper is one such dormant PlayStation icon, known for its colorful world, characters, and mix of stealth with action platforming. Meanwhile, despite Capcom's emphatic return to form, the publisher is still sitting on cult classics like the ingenious Jurassic Park and Resident Evil amalgam Dino Crisis. And with the power of PS5, these games have the potential for grand comebacks.

Forget RE4, You Can Already Play The Best Resident Evil Remake
Image
Resident Evil 4 Remake seems to be making plenty of changes to the original Resident Evil 4, but it might not be enough to earn the title of best remake in the franchise. Resident Evil 4 has been re-released on multiple consoles over the years, but the remake will go much further than the polishing up of graphics that has been done on the re-releases.

Beyond updating graphics, Resident Evil 4 Remake is updating gameplay as well, which will allow Capcom to remove features that players might find frustrating in the original game. However, the developers have claimed that while RE4 will have elements that make it feel like a new experience, it will still be familiar for those who have played the original version.

Keanu Reeves in John Wick : Chapitre 4 (2023)
Final ‘John Wick 4’ Trailer Has Keanu Reeves Facing Off Against Action Movie Royalty
Keanu Reeves in John Wick : Chapitre 4 (2023)
Lionsgate has dropped its third and final trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 4.” The Keanu Reeves-led action franchise is the brightest bright spot on Lionsgate’s theatrical slate and their most obvious hope for a 2023 breakout.

As with previous trailers, this one shows off new action scenes, new opponents and new comparative niche — at least to North American viewers — movie stars coming to the party.

To those in the know, the likes of Chinese action-god Donnie Yen and direct-to-dvd and VOD action king Scott Adkins (also seen by American theatergoers in “Doctor Strange” and “Expendables 2”) qualify as added value elements. The film will give these folks a higher-profile platform, at least in terms of mainstream Hollywood audiences, to show off their star power.

Clancy Brown showing up and subtly riffing on his “Highlander” appearance is for fans old enough to have kids who can buy an R-rated movie ticket sans parent or guardian.
