Exclusive: Voltage Pictures has taken global rights to apocalypse horror movie Monsters starring Ella Balinska.

Voltage will launch global sales for the film at the American Film Market in Las Vegas, Nv, which runs Nov. 5-10.

Monsters follows a mother (Balinska) as she fights to lead her two young daughters to safety across 20 miles of unforgiving terrain in a perilous post-apocalyptic world teeming with relentless, zombie-like creatures. Glenise Mullins wrote and directed. The pic is rolling cameras in January.

Pic is produced by James Harris and Mark Lane at Tea Shop Productions. David Whitney will also produce.

Koshi Nakanashi, who directed 2017’s Resident Evil 7, is to take the lead on Resident Evil 9, which is now in development according to Capcom.

Japanese studio Capcom has made a huge success out of its remakes of bygone Resident Evil games, with last year’s Resident Evil 4 picking up awards and breaking sales records for its sensitive updating of the 2005 classic.

Capcom is also looking to the survival horror series’ future, however, having just confirmed that it’s currently working on Resident Evil 9 – the first proper sequel since 2021’s Resident Evil Village. Development will be headed up by Koshi Nakanashi, who previously directed 2017’s Resident Evil: Biohazard.

Shifting the series’ perspective from third- to first-person, Biohazard was widely regarded as a leaner, scarier return to form following the increasingly action-focused Resident Evil 5 and 6.

A leaker claims that there are currently five Resident Evil games in development, including the next main title, Resident Evil 9. In addition to new entries in the main series, potential games could include various remakes of older Resident Evil games. There may be a lot more Resident Evil on the way. Capcom successfully revived the dormant franchise in 2017, with the groundbreaking Resident Evil: Biohazard. It followed up with a series of remakes, retelling the series’ early years through 2023's remake of Resident Evil 4, and a direct sequel in Resident Evil Village. The past few years have delivered an embarrassment of riches to Resident Evil fans, but since Re Village's decisive ending and cryptic post-credits scene, one has to question what's coming next for the series.

The first series was critically derided, but the canceled second season of Netflix's Resident Evil may just have saved it. Between the movies and Netflix's TV adaptation, there have been eight live-action attempts at Resident Evil. Of those many outings, only 2021 film reboot Welcome To Raccoon City came close to being a faithful adaptation of the original games. Pretty much none of these live-action Resident Evils have received good critical notices either, with the Netflix show being on the receiving end of some particularly scathing reviews over its lack of connection to the games, writing and performances.

This is despite the fact Netflix's canceled Resident Evil used the story of the video games as backstory for the show, and featured callbacks to key events and characters. Regardless, the series received backlash from the very beginning over its casting choices and an uneasy mixture of teenage drama and post-apocalyptic adventure.

As terrifying as its original version was, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has gone above and beyond in making one monster scarier than ever. The remake has introduced a number of new enemies to the village, some of which are completely unique, and others based on scrapped designs from the original Resident Evil 4. Enemies are, on the whole, smarter, tougher, and faster than ever before.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake has some of the goriest visuals in the Resident Evil series to date, and its new enemy types fit right in. Michelle Rodriguez has explained why she’s turned down James Cameron’s offer to return in Avatar.

The Lost actor, who stars in new film Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, played Trudy in the Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster.

However, she does not appear in sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, as her character died in the original.

But this hasn’t stopped Cameron from considering bringing back Trudy in one of the forthcoming instalments, which are scheduled to be released over the next four years.

Rodriguez revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that Cameron said he floated the idea of Trudy’s resurrection by her, but that she stopped him in his tracks.

“Dude, when I saw Jim [Cameron] recently, he was like, ‘I was thinking, ‘What if Michelle came back? A lot of the other characters came back,’” she said, adding: “I was like, ‘You can’t do that – I died as a martyr.

Despite appearing in two of the films, Michelle Rodriguez keeps proving all the ways the Resident Evil franchise wasted her. Courtesy of the folks over at Residence of Evil, the documentary on the “What if?” of George Romero’s Resident Evil film now has a teaser trailer, and aims to “immerse the audience in a cinematic horror aesthetic.”

I’ve long been one of those gamers who thinks that underachieving games with great ideas should get remakes rather than already great games. That argument doesn’t make much business sense (which is why it rarely happens), but the creative logic is sound. An incredible game is often only in need of a touch-up (if anything). Proper remakes sometimes feel like they should be reserved for games that had potential that is easier to see through modern eyes and with the help of modern technology. Egg Hunt is a simple fetch quest, tasking players with finding the Gold Chicken Egg and selling it to the Merchant. Players will receive Spinels as a reward, allowing them to buy more of the Merchant’s special wares.

While exploring the village, players will come across some blue notices left behind by the Merchant, which request Leon’s help with completing various tasks. This includes shooting Blue Medallions in the Quarry or even killing specific mini-boss enemies. Fans of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake won’t have to wonder if the game will be getting a VR mode. With Resident Evil Village receiving its free VR upgrade yesterday, Capcom also announced via Twitter that RE4 will be getting a VR upgrade for the PlayStation VR2.

“The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 has begun development! Please look forward to more details in the future!” read the initial (translated) tweet from Resident Evil’s Japanese Twitter. Following that was a second tweet that read, “The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will be released as free downloadable content for PlayStation 5 / PlayStation VR2.”

From the sounds of things, the VR mode won’t be making it in time for the remake’s release on March 24, but one never knows.

We’ve already seen multiple trailers teasing the animated adventure from Nintendo and Illumination. However, a new poster for the film is here to announce the date of the film’s final trailer!

The Resident Evil franchise has long been heralded as the flagship example of survival horror dating back to the original Resident Evil in 1996. But as this formula got stale, Resident Evil 4 was charged with revitalizing the series to prevent its cancelation. Re 4 did much more than that: It not only thrilled audiences, but created the template for every third-person shooter to follow.

However, this shift drew criticism from some reviewers: Resident Evil 4 was accused of featuring a story with more action than horror. The action was pure schlock, with Leon giving one-liners, performing amazing feats of athleticism, and even addressing the camera in the opening cutscene. With Leon taking on this sardonic attitude, it’s hard to feel he’s ever in real peril.

PlayStation is known for top-tier exclusive titles, but it also has various franchises - in some form or another - that should make their return as games for PS5. From PS1 onward, Sony's consoles have been home to various well-received series, whether first-party exclusives or prominent third-party titles.

In Sony's corner, Sly Cooper is one such dormant PlayStation icon, known for its colorful world, characters, and mix of stealth with action platforming. Meanwhile, despite Capcom's emphatic return to form, the publisher is still sitting on cult classics like the ingenious Jurassic Park and Resident Evil amalgam Dino Crisis. Though Nintendo's flagship mascot is effectively synonymous with the genre, there are many excellent platformers outside of Super Mario, and Sony had one with the likes of Sly Cooper.

Resident Evil 4 Remake seems to be making plenty of changes to the original Resident Evil 4, but it might not be enough to earn the title of best remake in the franchise. Resident Evil 4 has been re-released on multiple consoles over the years, but the remake will go much further than the polishing up of graphics that has been done on the re-releases.

Beyond updating graphics, Resident Evil 4 Remake is updating gameplay as well, which will allow Capcom to remove features that players might find frustrating in the original game. However, the developers have claimed that while RE4 will have elements that make it feel like a new experience, it will still be familiar for those who have played the original version.

Lionsgate has dropped its third and final trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 4.” The Keanu Reeves-led action franchise is the brightest bright spot on Lionsgate’s theatrical slate and their most obvious hope for a 2023 breakout.
