Ahead, journalist and “Ren Faire” executive producer David Gauvey Herbert shares the story of his first meeting with Magnify Award winner Lance Oppenheim, and what he observed working alongside him on their critically acclaimed HBO three-part docu-drama.

One fan asked about his training for The Matrix versus John Wick, and Reeves dropped the full scoop: “I did a lot of training and it was really fun. The Matrix, the first time was learning wire and kung-fu. That was months and months and months. John Wick was judo and jiu-jitsu and a lot more gun manipulation. And there was lots and lots and lots and lots.”

The first season followed Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they ventured across a post-apocalyptic United States, finally settling in the relatively peaceful town of Jackson, Wyoming. Ellie was 14 years old in the first season. The second season will jump five years ahead, so she'll be 19.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, some fans on social media have been complaining that Ramsey isn't a good fit for Ellie "because they’re not big and strong enough to be that character" after the story jumps ahead in time. As The Last of Us returns for a second season on April 13, showrunner Craig Mazin has responded to renewed discussion around Bella Ramsey’s appearance as Ellie, particularly in relation to the five-year time jump between seasons.

In the video game, Ellie ages from 14 to 19, with noticeable changes in build and stature. Ramsey, who was 19 during production, kept a similar physical profile to their Season 1 appearance. At 5’1″, Ramsey’s height has drawn criticism from some viewers who were expecting a closer resemblance to the game’s older version of the character.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mazin addressed the online reaction. “Ellie in the game looks much older. Some people do change quite dramatically and some people don’t,” he said. “I’m not interested in the physical aspect — although I’ve been looking at Bella’s face for years while editing, and I can see that they’ve certainly grown.

When it comes to adaptations of IP with huge fan bases, it’s impossible to please everyone, but there are some controversies that just feel unnecessary. Take for instance the recent online criticism over Bella Ramsey’s appearance in “The Last of Us” Season 2. In the video game, as with the series, a five-year gap separates the two narrative installments, with main character Ellie jumping from 14 years old to 19 and putting on a good deal of muscle and height between that time. Though Ramsey was actually 19 when they shot Season 2, they opted not to beef up too much for the part and remains at 5’1″, sparking many to criticize the choice to cast them.

However, in a recent interview in The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin shared that he remains confident in his decision to bring Ramsey onto the project despite not perfectly matching the source material’s visuals.

Richard Norton, the Australian actor and martial arts expert who demonstrated his considerable skills alongside Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Cynthia Rothrock in action films, has died. He was 75.

Norton’s death in Melbourne was announced this weekend in a Instagram post by his wife, Judy.

The charismatic Norton, proficient in judo, karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and many other disciplines, spent two decades as a bodyguard working for the likes of The Rolling Stones, Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor.

He also served as a fight choreographer on the 1993-2001 CBS series Walker Texas Ranger, starring his good friend Norris, and on features including The Condemned (2007), Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Dark Phoenix (2019) and the Suicide Squad films of 2016 and 2021.

Announcing the news, Richard Norton’s wife Judy wrote on Instagram, “I am numb and devastated, I have no words, I have lost my everything, I know there is, and will be lots of love and shock that we have lost this incredible human being. The love of my life. I’m using this time to come to terms with my great loss…” The likes of Robert Patrick, Lorenzo Lamas and more have all shared their grief on social media over the loss of Norton, with Lamas noting that he was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in the same year.

While the baby’s first name wasn’t shared, the source revealed that the couple opted for a nature baby name. The little one’s middle name, however, was revealed to be River. This name choice follows a naming pattern for the model’s other two children.
