Marvel Rivals Season 2.5: Ultron’s Latest Insufferable Buff Is Because One Loser Faction Wouldn’t Stop Whining
Image
Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 has finally come out, and it has brought a lot of new content like the Hellfire Gala: Arakko map and the flashy new Combat Chest, but one thing has managed to overshadow it all. Ultron is finally here and he is playable, but right as the patch came out, he got a very big buff. But was it necessary?

When the early previews of the mid-season 2.5 update were out, a lot of fans weren’t quite happy with Ultron’s abilities and speculated that he wouldn’t be too strong. Now, we don’t know if NetEase Games expected this response from us, but the devs were sure speedy in implementing this last-second buff.

Ultron gets a huge buff on his release day in Marvel Rivals

Ultron’s day-one changes are pretty crazy if you haven’t seen them. NetEase increased the damage on his ultimate, Rage of Ultron,...

When Jonah Hill Revealed How Little He Made For The Wolf Of Wall Street — And Why He Didn’t Care
Image
Why Did Jonah Hill Settle For A Minimum Paycheck In The Wolf Of Wall Street? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

Jonah Hill’s career has been a long game of reinvention. He started out in loud comedies and eventually landed deep in the world of high-caliber dramas. One of the biggest turning points came in The Wolf of Wall Street, where his portrayal of the unhinged, gold-chain-wearing Donnie Azoff firmly established him as more than just the funny sidekick.

While starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in a Scorsese-directed frenzy of drugs, greed, and chaos, Hill didn’t just hold his own. He stole scenes.

Star Power But Minimum Paycheck

Jonah Hill’s paycheck for the role was shockingly humble despite the film’s A-list glamour and blockbuster status. While his co-stars raked in millions, Hill pocketed what amounted to a Hollywood minimum wage, around $60K, for nearly seven months of shooting.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Opening Twist Was Its Worst Kept Secret, So Why Are People Complaining?
Image
The first two episodes of Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again have finally been released on Disney Plus, and the consensus has been mostly positive with a few valid complaints of how the new writers handled fan-favorite characters. The fandom has waited years for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to return and to be the lead of a show after countless cameos in adjacent projects, but the opening left them stunned.

It is refreshing to see Marvel Studios acknowledge the success of older Netflix series, but some would argue there are better ways to fill in the gaps and propel storylines further. While some fans applaud the writer’s boldness, some are still upset about how certain characters were treated.

Major spoilers will be discussed beyond this point.

Daredevil: Born Again Kicked It off With a Bang to the Chest There is no Daredevil without Nelson, Murdock, and Page.

Appalachian Folklore Comes to Life in Found Footage Duology ‘Chest’ and ‘Jeffrey’s Hell’ [Found Frights]
Image
If there’s one found footage device I admittedly don’t tire of, it’s following a team of folks who hope to uncover the truth behind local mysteries and urban legends. I’m sure many of us can pinpoint at least one local bit of horror lore passed down to us as kids–that story that survived across generations and inspired beliefs in the strange and unusual amidst environments that often felt otherwise unremarkable. While this setup is the catalyst for more than a few found footage flicks past and present, there’s something to be said for films of this ilk that are born of true-to-life lore that has managed to not only stand the test of time but also evolve as significant markers of local culture.

As an East Tennessee native, writer/director Aaron Irons sought inspiration for his feature debut Chest (2022) from his own childhood exposure...

A Great Scene In Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Shows The Wasted Potential Of A Key Subplot
Image
Although the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise had plenty of intriguing supporting stars, one Dead Man's Chest character proves that the sequels often wasted these under-utilized figures. Anyone who has seen the frustrating Pirates of the Caribbean sequels can attest to the franchise’s missteps. The later sequels lightened the tone of the series, losing the horror-centric edge of the original blockbuster, and made Jack Sparrow the star of the franchise. Although Johnny Depp’s antihero was an iconic character in small doses, his ascendancy to main character status drained his charm of its novelty and made him a tiresome, over-exposed leading man.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Why Will Needed The Black Pearl Explained
Image
Will Turner wants to take control of the Black Pearl near the climax of Dead Man’s Chest, but the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel never explains why he requires the vessel in the sequel. The Pirates of the Caribbean sequels all have their own unique problems, but 2006’s Dead Man’s Chest is mostly bogged down by complexity. There is no denying that its 2007 follow-up, At World’s End, also features a complicated story, but that movie’s downbeat ending is its biggest issue. In contrast, a convoluted storyline is the primary problem Dead Man’s Chest faces.

Queen Camilla is reportedly dealing with more than just physical wounds at the moment. According to a royal expert, she will be distraught over the course the recent few days have taken.

Queen Camilla “Upset” Over This After Developing Chest Infection

Queen Camilla’s chest infection has forced the royal to sit out a couple of events she would rather not miss. To top this all off, her beloved dog Beth recently passed away, so you can imagine how rough it must have been for the royal.

Royal expert and photographer Arthur Edwards certainly can. Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, the royal expert said: “The fact is that she missed the Remembrance Day Services, both at the Albert Hall and at the Cenotaph. Pirates Of The Caribbean Teased Barbossa Coming Back To Life Way Earlier Than You Remember
Image
Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) was resurrected at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, but his return was actually foreshadowed much earlier in the film than most people realized. Barbossa, who is one of the Pirates of the Caribbean characters who was inspired by a real person, died at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl after Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) lifted the curse, turned the pirate ship's crew back into mortals, and shot Barbossa in the chest.

He wouldn't stay dead for long, however, as Tia Dalma (Naomi Harris) brought him back to life in the sequel, ironically, to save Jack from Davey Jones' locker. Barbossa's resurrection was a major surprise for Dead Man's Chest, but the film actually set up Barbossa's return, albeit quite subtly, long before he was revealed. One detail not only proves that the pirate captain...

Pirates Of The Caribbean: How Jack's Compass Works & Why It's Way More Complicated Than It Should Be
Image
Jack Sparrow's compass is one of the most important items in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The compass is understood to be one of Jack's most prized possessions from the very beginning of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. However, Jack is nothing if not a reckless pirate, and this leads the compass to be held by many characters throughout the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, including Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner, and Cutler Beckett. In total, the compass is held by 12 people throughout all five Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Jack Sparrow's compass appears to be broken at first, since the needle never points north, but it is eventually revealed that it actually possesses a rather fantastical power, one that makes it a highly-coveted treasure. In fact, its abilities offer insight into many different characters' mindsets throughout the Pirates of the Caribbean series. However,...

Johnny Depp’s Age-Gap With Amber Heard Makes it Hard to Believe His Stance on Kissing Keira Knightly: ‘That made it infinitely more awkward’

Disney's Biggest Pirates Of The Caribbean 6 Challenge Isn't Replacing Johnny Depp, It's Ending A 4-Movie Trend
Image
Filling Johnny Depp's shoes in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be no easy task, but after a concerning four-movie trend, this won't even be the greatest obstacle for Disney's next installment. Depp's Jack Sparrow is an iconic feature of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but it's currently unclear whether this character will make a return. While the best-case scenario would see, at the very least, a cameo, there's plenty of indication that Johnny Depp alone won't be enough to guarantee Pirates of the Caribbean 6's success.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been at a standstill for the better part of a decade, with the fifth installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, being released in 2017. Since then, Disney has faced significant controversy. Depp was dismissed from his role due to the ongoing legal conflict with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, and even once things had settled down,...

Aileen Wu in Alien: Romulus (2024)
Watch 12 Minutes of ‘Alien: Romulus’ Behind the Scenes Footage Loaded with Practical Effects!
Aileen Wu in Alien: Romulus (2024)
A brand new video from the YouTube channel FilMonger takes you behind the scenes of Alien: Romulus this week, and it’s packed with twelve minutes of on-set footage and insights.

This behind the scenes featurette focuses heavily on the upcoming film’s practical effects-driven approach, which extends both to the movie’s detailed sets and its horrifying monsters.

Director Fede Alvarez took an all-practical approach to the film wherever he could, shooting Alien: Romulus much the same way Ridley Scott filmed Alien back in 1978. Of course, there are a ton of visual effects enhancements at play here that Scott didn’t have at his disposal back then, but you might be surprised by how practical Romulus truly is.

Star Cailee Spaeny notes in the footage, “These sets really help with the acting, because you’re really just reacting to what’s in front of you. And they’re absolutely...

‘Jeffrey’s Hell’ Review – Surreal Found Footage Horror Movie Is Based on Appalachian Folklore
Image
Quite a few horror films claim to be based on a true story, despite the reality that they are not in fact based on actual events. It is alarming to learn that a scary story is based on facts, especially in the case of urban legends. In 1999, The Blair Witch Project used a clever marketing campaign to convince audiences the found footage film about three college students who go missing in the Black Hills Forest in Maryland, while making a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch, was real. While the film is fictional and not actual footage from the missing college students, the concept may have been inspired by the story of Moll Dyer, a woman who lived in Maryland in the 17th century and was accused of practicing witchcraft. The Blair Witch Project was not the first found footage horror film, but it definitely energized the subgenre,...

The Best Fighters in the Pirates of the Carribean, Ranked

Throughout the Pirates of the Caribbean series, navymen, pirates, and cursed sailors alike compete with each other throughout their travels. A unique aspect of the duels in Pirates of the Caribbean is the many instances in which the same two characters fight with or against each other on multiple occasions.

It's important for a fighter to possess great skill with a sword, but other factors need to be taken into account. For example, how well a person moves and whether they fight honorably or dishonorably can play a major role in claiming victory against a more skilled opponent. It is not uncommon for the best fighters in Pirates of the Caribbean to possess multiple advantageous characteristics.

Chest (2022)
Panic Fest 2024 Review: Jeffrey's Hell Is a Brilliantly Self-Reflexive Found Footage Film
Chest (2022)
Writer/director Aaron Irons’s debut film Chest marked him as someone to watch. His sophomore effort, Jeffrey’s Hell, confirms that he’s one of the most interesting filmmakers working in the found footage horror genre. Chest follows a documentary crew investigating an Appalachian folktale about a mysterious, and possibly haunted chest in a cave in the Jeffrey’s Hell region of eastern Tennessee. It’s a fairly straightforward found footage movie in its horror setup and payoff, but the film’s interest in the malleability and power of oral stories makes it more than just another riff on The Blair Witch Project. Jeffrey’s Hell functions as a semi-sequel to Chest and expands that film’s interest in oral storytelling to the medium and culture of found footage itself. The film opens...

Pirates of the Caribbean: Does the Franchise Really Need Johnny Depp?
Image
The Pirates of the Caribbean films began with The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003. Over the next 14 years, Disney would go on to produce four more films in the franchise. As of 2017, the film franchise did not seem to be slowing down at all, with fans still watching the sequels. However, the franchise hit a bit of a roadblock when, in 2018, while plans for a sixth film were underway, Johnny Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard posted an editorial piece in The Washington Post alleging that Depp had abused her. Disney parted ways with Depp, and he was removed as Captain Jack Sparrow, his infamous and Oscar-nominated character from Pirates of the Caribbean. Whether you agree with Depp or Heard in the 2022 defamation trail, where Depp sued Heard and won, it's clear from the films so far that Pirates of the Caribbean is a franchise built upon his character.

Nevertheless,...

Who Was Perseus In Greek Mythology? The Legends Of Percy Jackson's Namesake Explained
Image
Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for Percy Jackson episodes 1 and 2. The final section also contains spoilers for the books.

The Percy Jackson series is heavily influenced by Greek mythology, with the title character being named after the Greek hero Perseus. Perseus, like Percy Jackson, is a demigod and the son of Zeus and a mortal princess named Danae. The story of Perseus parallels Percy Jackson's journey in many ways, with both characters facing challenges and achieving great feats.

The Percy Jackson & the Olympians books and screen adaptations are heavily steeped in Greek mythology, and its influence is even responsible for the title character's name. Based on Rick Riordan's best-selling books of the same name, the Disney+ series follows Percy Jackson as he learns he's the son of Poseidon — a revelation that completely alters the course of his life. Percy's journey to Camp Half-Blood and everything that comes after features many mythological creatures and figures.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Why a Movie Reboot Is the Only Path Forward for the Disney Franchise
Image
The Pirates of the Caribbean series has been one of the most successful movie franchises of the 21st century so far. With five feature films released between 2003 and 2017, the franchise has grossed an incredible $4.5 billion at the global box office, and it has also translated that success into massive merchandising and additional media sales as well. These movies connected with audiences in a way that most other series can only dream of. However, since the release of the fifth film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, in 2017, the franchise has been largely dormant.

Just because we haven’t seen any new Pirates of the Caribbean films doesn’t mean that the series isn’t a priority for Disney, though. There have been a handful of different Pirates projects that have entered development over the last few years. These projects have ranged from a sixth film that would continue to follow Johnny Depp...

It's Truly Remarkable How Much This Pirates Of The Caribbean CGI Holds Up, 17 Years Later
Image
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 raised the stakes with new characters and locations, expanding the world and delivering a tortuous adventure for Jack Sparrow and his crew. Davy Jones, the octopus-like pirate, was introduced as the main antagonist, with his greed and violence cementing him as a formidable villain in addition to his revolutionary and realistic CGI. Industrial Light & Magic's attention to detail in creating Davy Jones, including his unique quirks and realistic movements, set a high standard for CGI characters and made him the franchise's best and most impressive accomplishment.

While the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie already included multiple show-stopping effects, its 2006 sequel, Dead Man's Chest, truly raised the stakes with the Flying Dutchman’s crew and a significant character's CGI design. Pirates of the Caribbean 2 delivered on expanding the world and the characters first introduced in The Curse of the Black Pearl, creating an even...

10 Hidden Chests In Baldur's Gate 3 With Powerful Rewards
Image
Chests in Baldur's Gate 3 often hold mundane items like gold, resources, or camp supplies, but certain chests can contain the best rewards. Some notable chests contain powerful magic items, including some of BG3's best weapons and armor. Other chests are useful because they allow the party access to certain areas or start otherwise hidden quests.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a sizable map divided across three acts and several locations. Naturally, that means there are plenty of hidden treasures to find both in buildings or in the wild. However, some treasure chests hold better rewards than others, and those rewards might not always take the form of armor or weapons.

Chests are abundant in Faerûn, but it's rare for them to contain worthwhile rewards. Instead, they tend to have gold, resources like Trap Disarm Kits, or camp clothes and supplies. At worst, they'll have rotten food or nothing at all. Specific chests with unique names,...

How Much Johnny Depp Was Paid For All 5 Pirates Of The Caribbean Movies

Johnny Depp's portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow was the key to the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, earning him a whopping $265 million for the first five films. Despite Depp's massive earnings, he famously stated that he was paid too much for his role in the franchise. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies have grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide, with Dead Man's Chest being the highest-grossing installment at $1.07 billion. However, the future of the franchise is uncertain without Depp's involvement.

Johnny Depp is the star behind the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and his overall salary for the first five films clearly reflects this. Captain Jack Sparrow is why many audiences showed up at the theaters, so Disney has the man who portrayed the character to thank for the franchise's box office success. Of course, since Depp was excused from Pirates of the Caribbean 6...

Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse Review #2: The Best Superhero Sequel Ever
Image
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is not only the best Spider-Man sequel ever but it also is the best superhero sequel ever. Structurally and thematically similar to The Empire Strikes Back, Toy Story 2 is also an apt comparison. This is a sequel to an animated classic that redefined a genre that was beloved by many that somehow managed to be better than its predecessor.

2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a pleasant surprise that many didn't see coming. It was a superhero movie that anyone could enjoy, be they a fan or someone who didn't like superheroes. It is the best superhero movie ever, so the sequel arrived with far greater expectations. It felt like there was no way to live up to the hype, but Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse somehow does the impossible and exceeds every expectation.

The movie picks up roughly a year after the...

Jack Sparrow's Pirates Of The Caribbean Arc Focused Too Much On Immortality
Image
Throughout the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, Captain Jack Sparrow's character arc focused significantly on his search for immortality — perhaps for too long. Jack Sparrow was the kind of character that wanted to be virtually untouchable — the best pirate there had ever been. However, time and time again, Sparrow learned that the cost of immortality far outweighed the benefits. He seemed to come to this realization at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, but the plots of subsequent films entirely wasted that progress.

When Jack Sparrow was introduced in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, he was working on getting his ship back from Captain Hector Barbossa, who had mutinied to chase after the Pirates of the Caribbean nautical legend of the Aztec Treasure of Cortés. Jack himself had been the one to discover the gold's location, and he...

Captain Barbossa Can Still Return In Potc (But He Shouldn’t)
Image
Captain Barbossa sacrificed his life in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, but there's always a chance he could return in future installments of the franchise– though it may be best if he didn't. This wouldn't be the first time Barbossa or other characters were killed and brought back to life in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. However, this, among several different reasons, is precisely why it would be best for the franchise to make Barbossa's previous death his last.

Captain Hector Barbossa was first introduced as the antagonist in The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. He was everything a fearsome pirate should be, which, even as a villain, made him difficult not to like. At the film's conclusion, he was shot and killed by Jack Sparrow, but he returned in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and remained a...

Unlike other potion recipes found in the game, the Maxima Potion's Spider Fang requires players to hunt down a specific enemy instead of simply harvesting it by exploring the wizarding world.

After crafting their first potions in Potions Class, players will then need to find Spider Fang as an ingredient required in order to complete the Professor's Assignments and unlock new spells. Players may have already encountered spiders in the dungeon to find the Map Chamber,...

Pirates Of The Caribbean 3 Forgot Its Own Davy Jones Backstory
Image
The Pirates of the Caribbean movies established a backstory for its primary antagonist Davy Jones, but several details seemed to have been thrown out the window by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. These changes ultimately impact significant plot and characters, especially William Turner, who took Davy Jones' place as captain of the cursed ship, the Flying Dutchman. The rule that whoever stabbed Davy Jones' heart would take on his mantle allowed Will's life to be saved, but only if he cut out his heart and stored it away in a chest— something that was never meant to be a requirement.

Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) was introduced in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest when Jack Sparrow was revealed to owe a debt to the captain. Once a man, Jones was tasked by his lover, the goddess Calypso (or Tia Dalma), with ferrying the souls of those who...
