“Vendetta,” the awaited Corsican blood feud drama-thriller from Marco Cherqui, who produced Jacques Audiard’s breakout movie “A Prophet,” will be brought onto the sales market at Series Mania by France TV Distribution.

Set up at Cpb Films, behind Rebecca Zlotowski’s 2019 Toronto player “Savages” and the upcoming series expansion of “A Prophet,” both produced by Cherqui as Cpb head of TV drama and cinema, “Vendetta” is co-produced by public broadcaster France TV, where it will air on France 2.

News of its international distribution launch comes just after “Vendetta” went into production in the first week of March, shooting in Corsica.

Billed as a mafia thriller and family tragedy, the six-part series turns on Anto, a Parisian cop of Corsican origin, who returns to his homeland with wife Vanina, to take over the family vineyard.

Back in 2005, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman put a superhero twist on the idea of zombie outbreaks with the five issue limited series Marvel Zombies. That series became incredibly popular and has gotten a ton of sequels and spin-offs over the years. There was a nod to it in one of the illusions on display in Spider-Man: Far from Home, and then the Marvel Zombies concept got an entire episode of Marvel’s animated Disney+ series What If…? devoted to it. That episode is leading to a full Marvel Zombies animated series, which will be rated TV-ma – and the Walt Disney Company has now reveal that the series is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 3rd.

OxT (pronounced O-Ku-To), a two-member digital rock unit consisting of vocalist Masayoshi Oishi and guitarist/composer Tom-h@ck , released their new digital single song "Wheeler-dealer" and simultaneously posted the song's music video on their official YouTube channel on September 20. The song is now featured as the theme song for Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom , an-all new film from the Overlord anime franchise, also opened in Japan on the same day. The unit has performed all of the opening theme songs for the Overlord TV anime series, which has aired for four seasons since 2015. CBS Studios has officially revived a gender-swapped adaptation of the classic sword-swinging vigilante Zorro. This is the third incarnation of the project, which is currently being worked on by Spy Kids director Robert Rodriguez, and co-writers Rebecca Rodriguez and John Hlavin.

The idea of a gender-swapped Zorro series was initially pitched in 2020 to NBC, with a script penned by television writer Alfredo Barrios Jr., before the CW took over the project in 2022 and scrapped it a year later. According to Deadline, the Rodriguez siblings are gearing up to write a new, original script for CBS's version of the familiar masked vigilante. A contemporary adaptation, the story will follow a young Latina woman who discovers that her deceased father was once the illustrious avenger Zorro. In order to defend the citizens of her hometown in Austin, Texas from exploitation, she takes up her father's mask and mantle to fight against the wealthy elite.

International sales outfit LevelK has secured deals for “Mr. K,” Tallullah H. Schwab’s surreal drama which world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in the competitive Platform section.

The film stars Crispin Glover as a traveling magician who finds himself trapped in a Kafka-esque nightmare and is unable to leave the hotel where he’s staying.

“Mr. K” has been picked up in several territories, including Germany, Austria (Neue Visionen), Poland (Hagi Film), Benelux (Paradiso) and Cis (Silver Box Ltd). LevelK is negotiating more deals.

The film has also just been selected to compete at the Busan International Film Festival in the Flash Forward section.

Glover, who has a large following on social media, has already garnered early buzz around the movie on Reddit and TikTok, among other platforms. Schwab is an Oslo-born Dutch filmmaker who previously directed the short “The First Cut,” the TV series “Pie” and feature film “Confetti Harvest.

Shang-Chi rejoins the MCU earlier than fans anticipated; he is confirmed to appear in Marvel Animation spinoffs before the sequel to his live-action debut. 2024's D23 expo teased the character would return alongside Katy and Jimmy Woo in an upcoming Marvel Zombies episode.

New footage from Marvel Zombies that confirmed characters from 2021's Shang-Chi would return in the animated spinoff. The new show is much anticipated for its mature themes and darker tone, exploring an alternate universe featuring zombie variants of MCU villains and heroes. Per Screen Rant, the new clip revealed Simu Liu as the voice of Shang-Chi; he will be headlining a Marvel Zombies episode alongside Katy and Jimmy Woo (played by Awkwafina and Randall Park in the MCU). Marvel Zombies will run for four episodes featuring spinoff arcs from What If? Season 1, Episode 5, which featured the Avengers infected by a zombie plague.

Overlord , the ongoing anime adaptation based on the series of dark fantasy isekai light novels, continues on September 20, 2024, with the Japanese theatrical release of the Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom anime film, and now a new trailer, new key art (below) and more have been unveiled for the upcoming movie. Underworld creator and director Len Wiseman looks back on the film that sparked a franchise, 20 years after the movie's release.

Wiseman spoke with Collider to revisit the making of Underworld on the film's 20th anniversary. The director confirmed that the unrated extended cut, which was released in 2003, exhausted all material available for fans to see. That version technically served as the director's cut of the movie. "There is no other footage that exists to do that other than the storyboards that are on my shelf. The extended cut was, in essence, a director's cut in my mind," he said, but admitted there's still room in that version for a more fleshed-out character backstory.

I almost managed to see the Senegalese export Saloum on the big screen last year, before some schedule shuffling got in the way. Curzon plans to release the title in the UK later in 2022. As previously announced IFC Midnight have North American rights, with a June 24 release date now set.

Deals have also closed with Arcadia for Australia, FilmFreak for Benelux, Cinobo for Greece and Nonstop Entertainment for Scandinavia and Iceland.
