I watched and enjoyed the 2023 feature length version by a different director first and immediately afterwards, I watched the original short.
By the end of my viewing of the short, I actually hated the feature length because it got so many things wrong and the short gets them absolutely right.
1. The lead main actors were totally miscast in their roles in the feature.. The lead girl was too pretty. The romantic interest was too old.. and practically have zero screen chemistry.
2. the feature length also messed with the story too much - The backstory given to the romantic interest was lame and unneeded attention is given to his perspective of the situation.
-- I will quit bashing the feature because on it's own.. like I said, I did enjoy it.. that's something.
So back to the short: I don't want to spoil anything for someone who has never seen it.. but one of the things that is great about it, is that the story feels so real and honest. I am guessing that it comes from the writer's personal experiences or perhaps, that of a close friend and then actors bring that story to life on screen. They both nailed their roles 1000%.
The big mystery to me is why in the world did they go with different actors for the feature?
Most people in this world are not considered beautiful or handsome by society's standard. We are average at best .. and what has taken me decades to understand is that real beauty is honest truth and that is something we are all capable of.
This little film captures and feeds back to us some honest truths about ourselves.
-- This is not for everyone.. you will either get it and appreciate it or you will think " what's this BS?" .
- I would love to see more films by this director -- but only if she stays true.. which I totally understand is sometimes an impossible thing to do.
In a nutshell: It's a small Indie Homerun.

A not comfortable film. But hopful, delicate crafted, beautiful acted. A film about loneliness or depression or high need of the other. Simple and precise message , realistic portrait of many contemporary lives and something escaping to definitions, verdicts, opinions. A film remembering the work of Ingmar Bergman. And giving a great dose of vision about what defines it , out of ordinary everyday death thoughts.
