Asia and Piotr met ten years ago as teenagers and fell in love at first sight. He's the son of a respected professor of dentistry from a good Krakow family who spent a carefree holiday at the lake. She's a girl from Nowa Huta who worked in a local inn to help her mother support the family after their father left them. They meet, and then the budding love is brutally interrupted by Piotr's girlfriend, Sylvia, a clever schemer, who decides that Piotr belongs to her and would not allow anything in the world to take him away from her.

Sylvia's plotting gets Asia fired from her job due to a scandal. Piotr, who meets with an accident on the lake, suffers partial memory loss and can't remember Asia. He spends a long time in the hospital and has little memory of the vacation. Years later, Asia and Piotr meet by chance in a tenement house, where Piotr has been running a dental clinic with two of his friends for several years, and Asia is just opening a veterinary clinic with her friend's boyfriend. Asia feels they've met and known each other before but cannot remember where.

Piotr, on the other hand, is convinced that he is seeing her for the first time in his life. Due to an accident at Piotr's clinic, Asia has a damaged tooth and becomes his patient. Sylvia gets to plotting again to keep them away from each other, but the truth comes to light, and Piotr slowly begins to remember Asia and their interrupted summer romance.
