All these reviews!

How dare a female lawyer act like the male lawyers do in most of these kind of series! Give it a chance. Or, remember these comments when you watch the male versions. Please.

Vulgar drunk racist lawyer

The main character is vulgar, frequently drunk and drives too fast. When she's not too wasted to answer her phone, she's getting serial killers off. Not clear how she's supposedly a great lawyer, because it seems like she should be disbarred. The plot is full of holes as another reviewer mentioned and it doesn't make sense that people would retain her when she is a drunk and nasty and racist toward them. I guess I've just run out of things to watch and I was intrigued because this series is Polish.

Unbelievable series. One of the best shows. One of the best characters. One word description FIERCE.

This lead Polish actress who plays CHYLKA is phenomenal. She is a defense attorney and what you don't know is whether or not she is defending someone who is guilty or innocent. Her interrogations and courtroom cross-examinations are something to behold. She's complicated and men like her. They respect her. She likes them too but she's not entirely respectful. Her young associate is besotted with her and there is a real bond if not a romantic one. Lots of swearing. Lots of steak dinners in beautiful dimly lit restaurants. Always vodka - lots of it. She's like a dancer. She's like a boxer. She looks like a million bucks. She's nasty at times and belligerent and cuts to the chase which oddly enough is the truth and crux of the case. Some of her cases are terrifying. She has her own set of ethics but she's troubled by trauma in her childhood and will do anything to protect a child. The 3rd season is more difficult as she is self-destructive. Just never give up on this feisty blonde dynamo.

Series 1 was ok but Series 2 was great.

I watched series one which was a little slow and not totally inspiring, but I like the characters and thought I would give series 2 ago. I found series to be extremely exciting with plenty of cliffhanging episodes. The story began to make sense and the development of the characters continued. There were lots of interesting twists to the plot and I really enjoyed it.

Can't understand the " hater" reviews

I found the characters well written, true depictions of differing personality types and realistic. The criminal justice system creates a tough atmosphere where the subjects are tough, trust has to be earned and progress can be slow. I thought the main characters were very well acted. An excellent complex show.

No, it's not a simplistic plot, you have to engage with the plot to appreciate it fully.

It is difficult to watch someone, especially someone who seems they have everything, show self destructive behavior. But often this is part and parcel of dealing with pathological, criminal behavior. I sincerely enjoyed the writing.

low-energy legal potboiler

The longer it goes on, the less credible the story becomes; the weak plot runs out of steam long before the story limps to a feeble finish. I wonder if the legal details are remotely accurate; if so, the Polish judicial system is one big kangaroo court. Only days after a child goes missing, a suspect is put on trial for murder, even though there's no body! Only in Poland? Incredibly, there seem to be several more seasons of this mediocre melodrama.

A surprisingly excellent series!

I loved the damaged brilliant lawyer role played by Magdalena Cielecka and her dinamic with the male characters.

She's fierce and afraid of nothing and nobody. You have to admire that!

I found some scenes in the crime stories to be too explicit and cruel, but overall it helped built the narrative.

Coming from a former comunist country myself, showing parts of that history with people living in constant fear and corrupt prosecutors and law enforcement stealing from people and destroying lives because was spot on because that's a true story.

I know the story is over and it closed things in a way, but I could have watched a few more seasons for sure.

Slow and doesn't make a lot of sense

I love European crime shows, but this one was a little too slow and boring. I nearly gave up halfway through and now I kind of wish I did. It was very predictable with the few twists that we got, And the rest wasn't really much of a thriller or whodunnit. A lot of the things the characters did made zero sense and I still have a lot of questions about that.

So disappointing

I am a sucker for crime dramas especially those set outside UK or USA so had much anticipation for this . Absolutely loved Polish series called Pakt which was brilliant .They cannot all be good but by the standards of the genre this is dire . The series started sort of ok ...if you can accept a law firm taking on the role of detective agency .,.and Magdalena Cielecka is great eye candy but honestly the plot decends to drivel by episode 3 .Plot complletely stupid and incredible .Cannot believe Polish police and justice system is so incompetent .

Mr And Mrs Polish scriptwriters please try to write something better . Cinematography good and shots of Polish small town and countryside pleasant enough ,but thats all .

It's Really Bad

The female lead lawyer is a most ridiculous and unbelievable character. Speeding unnecessarily in her car. She's also unnecessarily rude and offensive , the character is trying to project her hard nosed ways and it's really over the top. Why would you need a lawyer minutes after the disappearance of your child. I stopped watching after about 15 minutes. A big thumbs down.

"The Disappearance: A Disastrous Series"

The series "The Disappearance" is a complete disappointment, not only for its dubious quality but also for the extremely problematic content it presents. The main character is portrayed as vulgar, constantly drunk, and reckless behind the wheel. When she's not too drunk to answer the phone due to her intoxicated state, she's absurdly absolving serial killers. There's no clarity as to why she's considered a brilliant lawyer when her actions suggest she should have been disbarred long ago.

The series' plot is a tangle of inconsistencies and absurdities, with no coherent logic. It's entirely implausible that the people around her would continue to tolerate her drunken, unpleasant, and racist behavior. The main character lacks any credibility, as she should embody the responsibility and integrity expected of a lawyer, which is the opposite of what she presents.

Furthermore, the series miserably fails to establish clearly the main character's role. She seems to alternate between being a lawyer, a police officer, a security guard, or an investigator, leaving the audience perplexed about the narrative's purpose and what exactly it's trying to convey.

In summary, "The Disappearance" is a series full of flaws and issues, from shallow characters to a confusing and inconsistent plot. It's a lamentable representation of wasted potential in contemporary television productions.
