A little gem of a film!

A truly heartwarming story... Un Frère (A Brother) is an independent film film from France that follows the lives of two teenage guys who meet during the course of a summer. Tom, a shy sixteen year-old meets Felix, a seventeen year-old, who is rather outgoing and fearless and falls for him... This short 1hour10mins film is more of a feel good (soft drama) affair than a preachy American LGBT movie hence a breath of fresh air! It is amazingly good in its execution and the quality of directing/photo is simply stunning for a kickstarter production shot roughly in 15 days. I also love the actors. Special credit should be given to the little girl who plays the young sister: her talent blew me away!

Sweet little story....

Low budget French film about two adolescent males, one gay and the other bisexual, who bond and explore their first sexual experiences with one another. Tom, the younger boy, is magnetic, shy, inexperienced but somewhat resistant to peer pressures common to teenagers. He seems to know who he is and isn't going to cave very easily. Tom's the centerpiece of this story and the camera doesn't waste any chance to focus on his precious eyes. Sweet story, no real drama, just two teenage boys messing around for the first time. Ending left me puzzled.

Disarmingly beautiful

Wow, what a superb movie, with outstanding performances from the three principal actors, so natural that it seemed effortless. Tom, played by Simon Royer, was amazing -- beautiful actor with such expressive eyes. Felix was also excellent. But what a surprise performance by the little sister -- so adorably winsome. and the story was so moving that I thought about it all day - it just stuck with me. I enjoyed this exploration of that mysterious realm between childhood and adulthood when Tom was so vulnerable. Great flick.

summer story

A french film about summer holliday of two teenagers. Nothing new, in essence. Except Simon Royer and his eyes. The basic virtue of film is to remind pieces of a relation in nice, beautiful and touching manner. It is not exactly a drama- you hope be - , except the notice of last minutes. It is not a romance - only exploration of emotions and desire. It reminds old friendship stories and their ambiguity but it does that in inspired manner. So, a film for nostalgics, modest at the first sigh but obvious, beautiful. For performances, for story, for atmosphere , for the wise desire to not demonstrate anything and for the French flavor reminding, a little, Le Grand Meaulnes.
