“Vought Rising,” Amazon’s upcoming prequel to “The Boys,” has added Will Hochman to its cast, Variety has learned exclusively.

Hochman joins previously announced leads Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash in the series, which was ordered at Prime Video in July 2024. Variety also reported that Mason Dye, who will appear in “The Boys” Season 5 as Bombsight, could also potentially appear in “Vought Rising.”

Exact details on Hochman’s character are being kept under wraps.

“Vought Rising” has been described as a “twisted murder mystery” that will take place in the 1950s and will see Ackles once again play Soldier Boy while Cash will again play Stormfront, a.k.a. Clara Vought. The show is expected to begin production later this year.

Hochman recently starred in five seasons of the hit CBS procedural “Blue Bloods” in the role of Joe Hill. He also recurred opposite Billy Crystal and Judith Light on the Apple TV+ series “Before.

In 2023, the action thriller Mercy was pummeled by critics, getting slapped with a rare and unwanted Rotten Tomatoes score of 0%. However, the film is getting another chance with Netflix subscribers two years after its release.

Per FlixPatrol, Mercy is currently ranked at No. 7 on Netflix's Top 10 chart for feature films, globally. The film was not a big success upon its release in theaters on May 12, 2023. Its reception was especially harsh, given the 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its audience score is only good by direct comparison, as it's also rather low at 17%. An acclaimed three-part Western miniseries is heading to Prime Video in December. Hatfields & McCoys, starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton, will arrive on the streamer at the start of the month.

Beginning Dec. 1, Prime Video subscribers can stream Hatfields & McCoys, the Western miniseries that originally aired as three two-hour episodes on History Channel on May 28, 29, and 30, 2012. Costner and Paxton lead the miniseries as William Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield and Randolph "Randall" McCoy, respectively, with the historical drama chronicling their families' infamous feud, which started during the Civil War in 1863 and extended into the early years of Reconstruction. The intense rivalry and escalating violence between the two clans were rooted in personal vendettas and land disputes, spiraling so far out of control that it eventually affected the entire community and attracted the eye of the nation.

McLaughlin steps into the role to help drive the company’s growth and to continue building on their run recent successes, which includes Amazon/MGM Studios’ “Road House” remake, which broke records with over 50 million worldwide viewers on Prime Video its first two weekends and AppleTV+’s “Presumed Innocent,” the platform’s most-viewed drama, which was recently renewed for a second season with Gyllenhaal once again executive producing for Nine Stories.

Political thrillers like JFK and The Bodyguard were far more commercially successful, but the underrated neo-noir thriller No Way Out certainly ranks among his very best projects. Although it reveals itself to be a much more complicated commentary on patriotism than it suggests early on, No Way Out is a rare classic that can only be watched once.

Two of them are already shot: the opening two parts of the planned four movie western saga Horizon. Whilst we don’t have UK release details, the two Horizon: An American Saga films that are pretty much completed will be released this summer. The plan is for four films, but as was revealed a few weeks ago, the funding isn’t quite in place for films three and four.

Kevin Costner is taking a massive risk with his Western epic film, Horizon: An American Saga, by personally financing and contributing his own money to the production. Costner has a history of self-financing movies, but most of those projects have flopped, with only a few exceptions such as Dances with Wolves and The Bodyguard. Horizon is Costner's biggest self-financing gamble yet, with a reported budget of $100 million and him mortgaging his California home to cover costs. It didn’t take long to see the problem after Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again paused production in mid-June during the writers strike. Fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes had been shot, but it was enough for Marvel executives, including chief Kevin Feige, to review the footage and come away with a clear-eyed assessment: The show wasn’t working.

As reported by People, star Kevin Costner recently revealed during an interview that he took out a mortgage to fund the four-part movie series Horizon: An American Saga. While chatting with Deadline, the Yellowstone actor stated that he took out a mortgage on his 10-acre home in Santa Barbara, California, to cover expenses for part of the project's cost himself.

Costner said, "I've mortgaged 10 acres on the water in Santa Barbara where I was going to build my last house. But I did it without a thought. It has thrown my accountant into a f------ conniption fit. But it's my life, and I believe in the idea and the story."

The star then added that he'd been working on various elements of the four-part Western series Horizon since 1988 but has since been having difficulties finding "anybody to make it."

Although Shawn Ryan‘s “The Night Agent” has been dominating Netflix’s charts since it began streaming – it’s currently Netflix’s fifth-highest English language series ever – it received hearty fresh competition this week from “The Diplomat.” The new series starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell managed to surpass “The Night Agent” with 57.5 million hours viewed globally. “The Diplomat” made it into the Top 10 in 86 countries last week, including over 15 territories in first place, but the #1 series in the United States and Canada was still the fourth season of reality series “Love is Blind,” which had 39.5 million hours viewed around the season finale reunion special. The Ali Wong–Steven Yeun dark comedy “Beef” continued to find viewers in third place with 42.8 million hours viewed, as the #1 show in Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Bahrain.

After four weeks at the top, The Night Agent was knocked down a peg on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV list. The series came in second for the week of April 17 to April 23, overtaken by The Diplomat.

The Diplomat, which debuted on April 20, raked in 57.5M hours viewed in its first few days on the service — squeaking past The Night Agent‘s tally of 57M.

The Night Agent also solidified its spot at No. 5 on Netflix’s list of most popular English-language series of all time with a final total on 626M hours viewed in its first 28 days. It sits behind Stranger Things 4, Wednesday, Dahmer and Bridgerton Season 2.

Speaking of Wednesday, the series marked its 20th week appearing in the Top 10, which is quite a feat as well, tallying another 9.5M hours viewed.
