One frame at a time.

'Rebooted (2019)' is a short film focused on an outdated stop-motion effect as he struggles to get work in an increasingly digital world. The piece is brought to life using a combination of techniques that culminate in an impressive and unique aesthetic. Its visuals are certainly its highlight, as it convincingly renders a variety of famous movie special effects within the same frame. It's also well-paced and admirably tells its tale without the use of words. The overall story seems somewhat lacking, though. There's no real resolution and it's difficult to nail down its ultimate point. If there's a message here, it isn't conveyed all that well. Still, the affair is enjoyable throughout. It's compelling and well-crafted. 7/10
