"Axios" (2020 release; episodes run about 35 min. each) returns for a third season. Episode 1 opens with an interview with Roger Stone, the Republican fixer who was convicted on 7 counts in November, 2019 and is awaiting sentencing when this interview was taped, ever unapologetic about what he did. We then go to "Manchester, New Hampshire" where the POTUS leads a campaign rally before a packed arena of Trump devotees. We then get a frank interview with the Manhattan District Attorney who prosecuted Harvey Weinstein. Episode 2 opens in "Oshkoch, WI", where Donald Trump Jr. is interviewed in front of a Trump-loving audience. When the audience is asked whether they care for the Republican Party (as opposed to Trump), not a single person raises their hand (as if more proof is needed that Trump is a cult of personality). Equally revealing is an interview with Ben Carson, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Just watch. Episode 3 deals with the coronavirus, including footage from the US-funded office in Kathmandu, Nepal, to detect pandemic outbreaks. That office was closed by the Trump administration in January of 2020... Episode 4 is consumed entirely by a hard-hitting interview of the Chinese Ambassador to the US. The guy squirms and wiggles and outright lies for over 30 minutes without any hesitation or scruples. Episode 5 contains interviews with NY Gov Cuomo and the CEO of Walmart, all about the coronavirus of course.
Couple of comments: based on the number of episodes in Seasons 1 and 2 (which aired in 2018 and 19, respectively), we are now about midway through Season 3. The show continues its mix of interviews (mostly) and on the ground reporting (some), with good effect. Political reporter Jonathan Swan, bless his heart, does not shy away from any of the though questions when interviewing the Chinese Ambassador to the US, and makes this absolute must-see TV. Watch how the Chinese Ambassador responds when asked about the 'disappeared' citizen journalists who reported in January and February from COVID-19 ground zero in Wuhan... Perhaps the scariest segment of these first 5 episodes is the interview of Don Jr. who brazenly and blatantly responds to the interviewer's questions with falsehoods, untruths, and misinformation, all in front of a Trump-adoring crowd. Absolutely amazing. Talk about 'drinking the kool aid'!
"Axios" falls somewhere in the middle of other news shows like HBO's "The Circus" and Showtime's "VICE". If you have any interest in politics and geopolitics, you don't want to miss this, period. New episodes air on Monday evenings and then are available on HBO On Demand and other streaming services.

Great interviews with the right people at the right time. Asks questions that are relevant, thought-provoking and tough. Politics make up a great deal of the show, of which (in my opinion) is more center than left. Their staff is diverse (it is 202X after all), which allows them to comfortably cover a wide variety of topics that may not get airtime otherwise.
Plus, from a news standpoint, it's very informative and up-to-date. Before watching the talking heads of whatever "team" you're on, search for a couple episodes that have topics you're interested in. If anything, at least you'll be more in touch with the world around you.

It's so sad that this documentary has been purposely given a lower rating, I almost did not watch it because of that, thankfully some of these rubes do leave a mark on the reviews when they give a review so I thought I would take a look for myself. A lot of work to shed light on a lot of angles to the truth.

Just caught a couple of episodes. Seems balanced, good reporting, great questions which will cause much discomfort to those that are corrupt, or incompetent. Hang in there.
Mockumentory style of filming feels a bit pretentious here. Get a damn tripod! :)

Couldn't figure out why this was rated so low. When you have an entire political party who's platform is to discredit any differing opinion and make people question fundamental facts, it's no surprise. At least with this both sides have time to state their opinions.
You're not fooling anyone, this is like hiding medication in a bowl of ice cream; deceptive thereby dishonest in attempting to subliminally inject leftist narratives, I ain't buying it.
The left simply has nothing to say that I want to hear, maybe RINOs are the unwitting targets.

The question that eludes. Why do people watch this spoon fed tripe? This is not journalism. More scripted nonsense. Idiots that cannot think for themselves will lap this up.
This show is utter rubbish. Jonathan Swan is the worst interviewer I've ever seen. He's malicious and rude to those he interviews. If I was the interviewee I would walk out. partisan politics should be left out of interviews to get real information that is not skewed. Whomever hired this guy is am imbecile.

In the typical ultra-liberal fashion of manufactured fake news comes yet another installment of Opinion/Editorial from the left disguised as a "news" show focused on current events. I'm neither conservative nor liberal, but I can smell propaganda a mile away. When did Americans become so self-loathing that they lap up anything spoon-fed from a smarmy Englishman (i.e. John Oliver or the "colonized" Englishman Trever Noah)? Axios has yet another creepily effeminate git who imposes his opinion over the expert guests he brings on. I literally only saw one episode (10/27) where the host was trying to provoke the guest, IMF leader Kristalina Georgieva, into hating on Trump...and after not taking the bait after several attempts, he began man-splaining and "correcting" her ("every nation works in its best interest" "no it doesn't!!!"). Just awful on all levels. Unless you are a sycophant leftist who just can't get enough hate against anyone with a difference of opinion, you would do very well to dismiss this show outright.

Not only is this show not news, as it claims, but it's boring, ultra-left (read Woke) and manipulative in it's delivery. Unless you're really into politics, don't waste your time. It really is annoying when shows like this are called "news", because there"s nothing ground-bre asking here, just a lot of opinions being aired. So called journalists/reporters need to learn the difference between actual, real news (i.e. They didn't "make" the news", they "report the news") and an opinion piece. This show falls into the latter. Not news, but a bunch of left-wing opinions. Opinions are not news, people. Also, Axios is extremely boring to watch. Dull & flat delivery. Even for an leftist opinion show it's bat...t boring.
