Different

Blind willow, sleeping woman is, strange. That doesn't mean bad, but it's different than your regular monday night cinema. I usually get annoyed by 2d animation or it takes me a while to get into it, but in this picture they make use of some sort of 2d/3d blend, which turned out very beautiful at times. The stories are really strange, but they make me want to read the books at the same time. Adults, as I too, often lose their childlike imagination. So an animation that's as imaginative and dreamy as this makes a good escape from the sometimes harsh reality of life. The music is simply beautiful and used sparsely but at the right moments. Pretty good movie, definitively more than I thought it would be.

Murakami fans

Personally I haven't read this particular book but I'm a huge Murakami fan. I don't think Murakami is for everyone and this films speaks more to Harukis fans than regular film lovers. It's pretty hard to understand and you have to think hard to take something from it.

I loved everything about it, I'll be watching it at least for one year to really appreciate it. It reminds me my love for his literature and narrative. If you ever thought about reading Murakami don't watch Norwegian wood, watch this. Huge recommendation for everyone who loves magic realism.

Mby after I'll read this book I'll change my mind, but till then it's a great film for me, it's one of my two 2023 favourites (Barbie and Blind Willow, Sleeping woman)

A unique vision

This is a strange but interesting piece of work. I had a bit of a hard time following this but it was never boring. I would like to watch this again sometime hopefully. It's definitely one that requires 2 viewings at least, I'dsay. I know I'd get even more out of this artistic vision on at least one more viewing. Something of an ambiguous ending in this one has. Absolutely enjoyed it all and it's definitely one of my favorites of 2023. Also our screening was in English but it felt like it was made this way and not dubbed. Would be interested to see the original French language track for this but what is here is required viewing for film lovers. Seek this out if you can. It deserves a cult following I'd say.

9/10 for this one tho.

Magic! So Murakami!

The beautiful animation and music by Pierre Földes looks like pure imagination although it is all based on various stories by Haruki Murakami. I can't be called a Murakami fan but I've read a few of his books and they always manage to do some magic on me and make me enter a certain state of trance, a different reality. It is always hard to remember the plot some time later, but this feeling lingers on. Same with this animation film: Földes managed to make this magic visual using his own. Dreams become reality and then turn back to being dreams.

Makes me want to read the stories now. Bravo and many thanks!
