I must say that I was taken by surprise by the 2020 movie titled "Angie: Lost Girls", as this turned out to be an emotional and hard-hitting movie. Now, keep in mind that the topic of human trafficking for sex is one that might not be suitable for everyone in the audience.
However, I will say that this is definitely a movie that is well-worth taking the time to sit down and watch, especially since it is dealing with such a grotesque and inhuman thing as sex trafficking. But it should be noted that writers Janet Odogwu and Julia Verdin definitely managed to write an intense and moving story that sweeps up the audience.
The story, while being rather tough and vile, is actually nicely told without going too far. You get to know what you need to know, so director Julia Verdin didn't overstep the boundaries of what would be deemed acceptable for a movie meant for entertainment purposes. Sure, some of the scenes are graphic and needs little explanation, but they help to further the storyline quite well.
It should be said that the acting performances in the movie were quite good, even for the one playing the scumbags behind the sex trafficking. I mean, this was a movie after all, and the actors and actresses were portraying fictional characters. But they put on really good performances that you start to forget that it is actually just a movie. I was not familiar with the performers in the movie, but I will take the time to applaud Jane Widdop (playing Angie) for her performance in this movie.
My rating of "Angie: Lost Girls" is a solid and well-deserved six out of ten stars. It is a movie that should be watched, if you have the time and opportunity to do so.

It is a work that highlights the actors' passionate performances.
I believe that the actors must have received psychiatric counseling after filming.
In particular, the main character girl is likely to need counseling very much.

The story was interesting and the lead acting was good, but the acting of the rest of the actors was a little disappointing. But I enjoyed this movie.
Plot is OK, acting and everything else the worst I've ever seen.
I would recommend to show this to your teenage daughter, nice, sister or friend, and that's it.

It is frustrating to see the high rating of this movie, 5.3, is this a joke??? A topic known to everyone treated with 0 respect. The movie is the worst of the wost.. not to mention the actors, the worst I've seen lately. It's pathetic. It doesn't even reach a b movie, not even remotely.
The subject is important and that is why it must be treated in a different way, with more quality and realism, please!.. so girls are stupid now? You go and hide in a garden, after you scape!! , and dont look for help??? Omg! What is this???
I don't understand how the creators of this movie can spend money on this, it doesn't convince in any way. Totally cold, badly acted, edited, and without feelings. Mediocrity is around every corner.
A shame that such an important story simply ceases to be important, simply because of the lack of respect!! Shame on you all!!## .. director, editor, .. and everyone who has participated in this pathetic show.

This movie is undervalued. The acting of the actors who passionately performed each character stands out and the flow of the play is not boring. In particular, the actor's acting as a villain was great.
The story and acting were all thought-provoking and I couldn't hold back my anger while watching the movie.
Of course, these aren't the girls' fault, but nevertheless little girls should always be careful.

The topic of trafficking and prostitution has been brought to cinema in many forms. A difficult topic to tell a story around while avoiding the pitfalls of titillation, explicit content or exploitation in the process of illustrating what happens in the seedy world of trafficking. Many films struggle to find the line, either delving into making their own exploitation porn in the process or dubiously hiding behind the justification of art while the actors are exploited themselves. Angie: Lost Girls is a breath of emotional fresh air, dwelling on the psychological effects of trafficking on the victims and their families and the manipulation and struggles that make it such a serious and elusive crime.
Angie is a happy suburban girl, with providing parents and a good relationship with her sister. She is targeted by a trafficking ring and moments of weakness are exploited while entering into a secret relationship. She is misled into a meeting that turns into a nightmare as she is abused and trafficked against her will. Films of this vein are often heavy handed on the subversive guy and the harrowing tale of their escape. In this case, the film focuses on the tracking and capture of traffickers, and Angie's experience is one of many perspectives shared.
The camera work is excellent and most of the actors deliver solid performances, especially Jane Widdop as Angie. Lighting is also well handled, working with the director's vision of handling hard circumstances without crossing the line into explicit content and creating distinct feeling to the sets. This film is proof that content can be and is often more emotionally impactful when not explicitly shown.
There are many films in this genre, but few accurately portray the methodology, the effects and the struggles of trafficking. Some would argue that the circumstances of the film are hokey at times, and the criticism may be correct that there are some scenes that feel rushed, but the circumstances are real, they happen and are worth a watch.

It was a movie that made me cry.
It was also difficult to understand that there are definitely many women in the world who are suffering from such a thing, regardless of minors.

Realistic fiction makes us all alert. In particular, the movie explained well why the victim was afraid to tell the truth, and my heart ached throughout the movie.
It was a realistic movie, so I felt uncomfortable the whole time I watched it.
I don't think something like a movie should happen, and if it happened, it should be solved in a good way somehow.

I don't understand why this movie got low ratings. The acting of the actors was good, and especially this dealt with reality too much to be fiction. In fact, this happens a lot, so we should all rate positively this movie to be alert.
It was a movie that gave a breathtaking sense of immersion.
It was an angry movie, but I believe it was made in the hope that things like movies would no longer appear in reality.
I want to hit all the people who only have that in their heads.

I watched this movie on IPTV.
Human trafficking must end.
A movie with a good message!
However, the probability is somewhat lacking.
The acting by the actors is very good.

This was a hard movie to watch. The story grips your heart and rips it apart. The cast is so good I sometimes forgot they were actors. I wanted to stop watching many times because of the tsunami of emotions I was feeling; and yes, I cried a little. But I wanted to see it through in hopes that this small group of perpetrators were stopped. This story of real life events is gut wrenching because there are so many committing these crimes against children. There are so many lost girls and boys out there suffering these crimes of indignity and sexual abuse.

Based on true events that truly happens to zillions of people. It's hard to watch but a very good story with great actors. Indeed, let's pull together to help each other.

I came out of this film thinking this is such a well-told story of an oft too difficult subject to address.
Without giving the story away, I can say I enjoyed the excellent writing and direction by Julia Verdin and the fine cinematography by Peter Holland.
And the powerful acting, particularly from the traumatised Angie, played by Jane Widdop.
Yes there is much trauma in the story but not without emotional moments such as between Angie and her family, unaccustomed as most of us are, to having a sex trafficking survivor/victor in our midst.
A thriller with a message that sustained my interest throughout.

Human trafficking is a frightening reality. This film captures the issue in an intense and emotional way. We have the opportunity to share this movie with others, especially the teens, who may not realize how they can end up being lured by this evil. This movie shows how the innocent are captured and abused, forced into this horrific.

I was so emotionally moved during and after this movie ... I still am. I couldn't believe the realities of trafficking until I watched Angle: Lost Girls. I've watched other trafficking movies and they were all so soft and didn't get to the nitty gritty details of what the girls are going through. Julia doesn't hold back at all. We see from the perspective of Angie, who gets trafficked, from how the fake friendship starts with this guy that lures her into the world of trafficking.
We see how she's treated by her kidnappers, it's horrible, then she is able to escape and go back home. Then you think it's over, but it's not, the traffickers now hunt her down and bring her back into trafficking again. Her parents and sister are horrified by all that's going on.
In the end, ok, I won't give it away, but you need to watch this movie, it will show you what is really going on in the world of trafficking. It brings strong awareness to the crimes of trafficking.
Great job Julia Verdin!

Its message is obvious: Spread awareness of how sex traffickers work. Amazing cinematography combined with great writing and acting make this difficult subject hard to turn away from.

Making a film with this kind of content should be commended. There are times when a movie has to contain a message, not just a lot of emotion, and sometimes it has to give people awareness. This is such a movie.
The fact that in reality this is still happening is terrifying.
The film flows a little bit simply, but through these films, we have to constantly awaken.
The acting of the actors isn't bad either.

This film is one of the most impactful and educational films that I have seen in a long time. It is extremely raw and reveals the underlying horrors of our society in an authentic way. Despite some scene being hard to digest due to the nature of the content, the director did an amazing job bringing this project to light. This work needs to be done more in Hollywood to bring more awareness on important social issues just like Angie: Lost Girls did.
The cast is superb and did a fantastic job portraying the raw emotion and power dynamics between those who are trafficked and the perpetrators. I highly recommend this film.
