From time to time, an anime series will release a spin-off. These anime tackle familiar characters from a new angle. Sometimes this places beloved characters in a darker universe, while other times characters are given a much needed break from the chaos their canon universe puts them through.
Several of these anime, such as Isekai Quartet, have become quite popular with fans. However, some of these anime that deserve to be well-loved have unfortunately slipped under the radar. These unique takes on popular anime deserve the chance to finally shine brighter than the original without slipping into obscurity.
Not Every Meister Is a Master in Soul Eater Not! Not Currently Streaming
Soul Eater Not! takes the gothic shonen anime adventure of Soul Eater and replaces it with peaceful school days. Maka Albarn and Soul Eater Evans may be a proper Meister and Weapon pair, being part of the Eat — Especially Advantaged Talent — class.

A good deal of anime transport a character from their familiar world into a fantastical realm filled with new opportunities and challenges. While many isekai focus on survival in extremely dangerous new environments, some take a gentler approach, focusing on slice-of-life adventures that offer a cozy escape.
These stories follow protagonists as they adapt to their surroundings, finding joy in simple pleasures like brewing potions, forging friendships, or exploring their new world at a leisurely pace. Designed to warm the heart, these isekai provide a refreshing alternative to the high-stakes, action-packed narratives typical of the genre.

Kadokawa surprises fans with a short animation crossover between Overlord and The Eminence in Shadow, following through on an April Fool's joke. Both shows have manga adaptations in Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine, which allowed the crossover to happen. The crossover opens up possibilities for future comedy crossovers and further usage of The Eminence in Shadow characters.
October 31 gave a surprise treat for fans of the isekai genre, when Kadokawa released a short animation where the casts of Overlord and The Eminence in Shadow meet. The two shows, which already have super-deformed spin-offs, are a natural match. Perhaps more surprising is that the anime follows through on what was ostensibly an April Fool's joke made earlier this year.

Anime might be most well known for tackling genres like action and romance, but the best anime comedies are some of the funniest TV series to ever exist. While dramas and intense battle shonen have always risen to the top of popularity lists, comedy is just as important to the history of anime. After all, comedy is enjoyable no matter what genre of anime fans prefer.

Almost every modern isekai anime is set in a fantasy world that conveniently resembles an RPG that the hero (and viewers) played before. However, that doesn't mean there's room for weirdness and variety.
