Ma Dong-seok is a real bad-ass - and I love the work he has done - but what he miss out on is a Terence Hill-counterpart - because we do not see those movies anymore....
Bud and Spnce had a special chemistry that movies today has not captured yet - Ma Dong-seok could be the Bud Spencer of today?
He is large, fierceful, powerful, and he really put gravitas to the roles he plays.
Maybe you think he plays same role over and over again?
Then you do not know anything about acting.
Ma Dong-seok makes subtle swifts in his roles, that only a true actor can, and he should be commended and rewarded for his work.
I am indeed a fan - and hope you get to make many more great movies.

I get it: 80% of the times, Korean movies always have some kind of comedy-relief in the middle of their plot. Even if it's tagged as an action, mystery and/or crime. And I have nothing against it.
However, omitting any to those humorous moments or characters in the genre, trailer, storyline and/or poster it is seriously misleading., and it's starting to get on my nerves.
Can we (and the industry) start adding «comedy» or a similar tag to this kind of movies and dramas? Because, if you don't, and then see «The Man from Nowhere» as a recommendation, then I am expecting a serious, action filled kind of movie, and this was not it - even though Ma Dong Seok always kicks ass.

For the life of me I can't figure out how the title of the film has any thing to do with the story at all. The Villager is a run-of-the-mill action film that is painfully simplistic and offers no surprise or intrigue throughout. The film also fails to bring anything to the table and the plot twists are shallow and predictable. Adding fuel to the fire, the film is littered with plot holes and at times simply lacks common sense. The only semi-interesting main protagonists seems to have a pretty interesting backstory but it doesn't get explored at all, instead it focuses on the girl who seems to be in a million other mundane Asian films.
Not much of a mystery, pretty predictable story. Usually korean thriller movies add huge amount of suspense but this one was pretty blunt.
This is about crime mystery thriller.
This movie is not a big movie. And there aren't many action scenes. The movie starts moving in the middle. But still watchable. I watched without getting bored. I recommend you to watch.
It is true that it is a predictable movie. But it's a movie that doesn't have many actors.
This movie that makes you watch it even though it has some gaps. Classical elements from Asian films are frequently featured in the film.
Even though I don't find the performance of the lead actor perfect, I think he played very well. I like him.
Overall, the movie deserves at least 6 out of ten. Although it is a classic, I can easily give it a 7 because it made me watch and is my favorite actor.
