Just over 15 years after “Reba” closed out its six-season run, “Happy’s Place” creator Kevin Abbott reunited with the sitcom’s team to explore a potential “Reba” reboot series.
“I had actually come up with where the characters were at, where their lives were at [and] what was going to be the dynamic was some new characters,” Abbott told TheWrap, noting that executives were initially “very interested” in the idea. However, he added that as time went by and the industry consolidated further, the reboot didn’t move forward “for various financial reasons and rights reasons,” per Abbott.
“I’d spent six months doing this thing and been working on it and Reba [McEntire] was like, ‘well, let’s just do another one … we’ll do something else. I was like, ‘I don’t have another one in my back pocket,'” Abbott recalled. “So I called my wife [Julie Abbott] to complain...

Reba McEntire returns to the comedy scene with a bang, reuniting with two of her former co-stars in the brand-new NBC sitcom, Happy's Place. Set in Knoxville, Tennessee, the heartwarming comedy follows Bobbie (played by McEntire) as her life is uprooted when her father, Happy, passes away, leading to the discovery that half of the tavern she's been running for 10 years now belongs to the sister she never knew she had.
Happy's Place looks to recreate the same heart, soul, and humor that audiences once loved in Reba, with the show's former showrunner, writer, and producers returning to work on the project. Kevin Abbot, Happy's Place's writer and creator, told TV Insider that he chose the tavern setting because he wanted an environment where a "diverse group" with individual and contrasting life experiences could "congregate." This aligns with McEntire's statement of looking forward to the Reba replacement "always [having] a lesson,...

Reba McEntire loves the sitcom genre. “Out of all the things I get to do, this is my favorite. It’s camaraderie, fun, creative. You go to work and play,” says the down-to-earth hitmaker and current coach on The Voice, who starred as a wisecracking, divorced mom in Reba. That show, which earned the songstress a Golden Globe nomination, used her anthem, “I’m a Survivor” as the theme song. For her new NBC comedy Happy’s Place, McEntire is recording an original song for its theme music and playing another character who can stick with it. Now she’s reliable Bobbie, who inherits her dad’s Knoxville tavern, Happy’s Place, her workplace for 10 years, only to discover the new co-owner is a younger, 20-something half-sister she never knew she had. That’s Isabella, who’...

Emma Myers is known for her quirky, optimistic roles, but she recently gave a different performance. Myers players an intense, determined character named Pip in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. The series highlights Myers' versatility as an actress and showcases her range.
Despite having appeared in numerous projects, such as The Baker and the Beauty (2020), Dead of Night (2020), and Girl in the Basement (2021), Emma Myers found her breakthrough role in Netflix's Wednesday. Myers took on the role of bubbly, quirky Enid Sinclair, the perfect foil to protagonist Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega. With her colorful hair, cheerful outfits, and upbeat personality, Myers' character brought some much-needed vibrancy to the otherwise gloomy, supernatural Wednesday storyline.
Given that Myers found fame as Enid Sinclair, audiences soon came to associate her with roles that were full of character. However, the latest project that Myers stars in puts her in a more intense,...

Netflix is on the cusp of taking down a wide selection of movies and TV series.
The streaming service removes numerous titles each month, but without fanfare; unless you happen to select the thing that’s about to leave, you will have no idea there’s a limited amount of time left to watch.
Fortunately, we’ve compiled a list of every movie and TV show being removed from Netflix in April 2023.
We’ve aggregated all the impending removals from Netflix in the UK and US, which we’ve signalled below. If there isn’t a territory listed next to the title, then it will be leaving both.

New Girl is moving out of Netflix this April.
After nearly 10 years on the platform, all seven seasons of the Zooey Deschanel-starring Fox comedy are exiting the platform on Sunday.
But fans will soon be able to reunite with Deschanel’s Jess, Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and more on April 17 when New Girl starts streaming on Hulu and Peacock.
Later in the month, Netflix subscribers will lose access to Alex Gibney’s Julian Assange documentary We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks and Bill Nye: Science Guy, which follows the beloved children’s television host as he takes on the anti-science movement, including those who deny climate change and evolution.
By the end of the month, several movies will leave Netflix, including Leap Year, Road to Perdition and action films Den of Thieves and Empire State.
And Edgar Wright’s 2010 movie version of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World...

A few years back, original Hocus Pocus star Thora Birch had expressed interest in returning for the sequel, which is now coming to Disney+ this Friday, September 30. Birch, however, isn’t back in Hocus Pocus 2 alongside the other legacy stars from the original classic, and the actress explains why in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight that went live this week.
The reason Thora Birch isn’t in Hocus Pocus 2? Scheduling issues.

In the most recent trailer for Hocus Pocus 2, we get a taste of some backstory footage that’s set over 300 years prior to the events of the original movie, revealing that we’re going to be meeting the Sanderson Sisters as kids in the upcoming sequel. Ahead of Hocus Pocus 2 arriving on Disney+ on September 30, producer David Kirschner teases that trip into the past.
The Broadway Podcast network’s hit show The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul, hosted by actor & journalist Robert Peterpaul, just debuted the first part of their interview with Kirschner, the creator of Hocus Pocus and the producer of the new sequel. The Art of Kindness spotlights kindness in the arts through intimate conversations with industry powerhouses who use their platforms to make the world a better place. Kirschner joined Peterpaul to discuss the kindness of making the cult classic, along with what to expect from the upcoming sequel.

The Sanderson Sisters are back in Hocus Pocus 2, set to debut on Disney+ on September 30, 2022, and the streaming service has released the first official clip from the movie today.
In the clip, the sisters find some rather unique “brooms” at Walgreens…
The film is being billed as “the spooky sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic,” with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all back as the beloved Sanderson Sisters.
Doug Jones will also be returning as Billy Butcherson!
“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.”

Perhaps Maggie‘s titular psychic already saw this news coming: Hulu has cancelled the romantic comedy after just one season, TVLine has confirmed.
Although streamers rather famously do not disclose viewership/”ratings,” it is worth nothing that in the weeks since Maggie‘s July 6 debut, it has not once cracked the Top 10 on Nielsen’s weekly U.S. ranking of streaming originals (whereas Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building has been a steady presence).

The witches are back in Hocus Pocus 2 this Halloween, coming to Disney+ on September 30, 2022, and the sisters will be joined by returning character Billy Butcherson!
Doug Jones is back as the undead character, and Entertainment Weekly has just shared our first look at Billy… almost 30 years later!
Jones tells EW in the preview piece linked above, “It is seamless between the first movie and the second, that’s the first thing I felt. It keeps the pureness and nostalgia alive and well for those who grew up with the first movie, and for any new fans we’re gathering now will be excited about modernization for the current time we’re in.
“Billy came back to me immediately, it was frightening how he’s been alive while I’ve been playing other characters all these years, but, Billy’s like, ‘I wanted my chance again.'”

Hulu's new psychic romantic comedy, Maggie, is different than other rom-coms. It premiered on July 8th.
It follows Maggie (Rebecca Rittenhouse), a fortune teller who can see the future. She's been unlucky in love and avoids it because of her powers.
Her life changes when she reads Ben's (David Del Rio) palms and sees them together in the future. We chatted with David Del Rio about modern dating and this unusual love triangle involving fate. Check out the interview below:
Hi David. I have enjoyed your acting since I saw you in The Baker and The Beauty. Do you think that role helped enhance your popularity?
I don't know. I ignore that, but I do know that ever since the series streamed on Netflix, I would get stopped in the street. For me, it's not Baker and The Beauty as much as people calling me Mc Cubano on the street.

Hulu’s Maggie stars Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project) as a psychic who possibly glimpses her own future love life — but can she see if you will be sticking with the romantic comedy?
Before you chime in with your thoughts on the series, which premiered Wednesday with all 13 episodes and was originally intended to air on ABC, a brief recap of the first episode: Maggie is offering psychic readings at a party, and we know she’s legit because she correctly sees that a woman had been cheating with her friend’s fiancé, leading to a big blowout between the pals.
