In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actor Chidi Ajufo shared how he prepared for his fight scene with Jason Statham in their action-thriller A Working Man, which follows Levon Cade (played by Statham), who left a decorated military career for a simple life in construction. When human traffickers kidnap his boss’s daughter, he is forced back into the corrupt world he left behind. “Working with Jason is amazing,” Ajufo told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “He’s very detailed with his fight choreography. So learning from him, learning from a veteran in that aspect, because you know, in this fight, fighting world on screen, I’m still pretty new in that, so I like that I can learn from someone who has been in the business for a long time.” A Working Man is now in theaters.

Jason Statham scored a huge hit with The Beekeeper in 2024, and his reteaming with director David Ayer for A Working Man seemed like a surefire repeat of that success, especially with action veteran Sylvester Stallone also in the mix. However, despite landing mixed reviews from critics but a staggering 91% Rotten Tomatoes score from audiences, the film’s box office looks to have downed tools and took a day off.
A Working Man stars Statham as Levon Cade, a former black ops soldier who is taking things easy as a construction worker. However, when his boss’s daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers, it doesn’t take long for that old Statham charm to break out… by which we mean, people are going to get kicked around a bit.
The film landed an initial critics score of 64%, but has since dropped to 55% on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer. However, after opening with previews on Thursday,...

2Nd Update Midday: Disney’s Snow White with $4M today and potentially $15M+ for the weekend hopes to lead the weekend, but she could be undone by Amazon MGM Studios/Black Bear’s Jason Statham movie A Working Man.
At a time of depressed box office, Statham’s meat-and-potatoes dude action still has an audience with a Friday near $5M today and outlook of $13.5M. Some rivals even show Snow White and A Working Man neck-and-neck for the weekend. Snow White is booked at 4,200 sites, while A Working Man is at 3,262 locations including PLFs like Dolby and 4Dx.
Third place goes to Fathom Events’ The Chosen: Last Supper with $5M today and $12M for the weekend at 2,234 locations.
Fourth is Universal/Blumhouse’s The Woman in the Yard. The pic is more popular than A24’s Jenna Ortega horror film Death of a Unicorn but not by much — $8.4M to possibly $5M.

Jason Statham is one of the most prolific action actors and the audience is once more excited about his latest release, A Working Man. The critics, however, weren't as impressed.
A Working Man reunites Statham with his 2024's The Beekeeper director David Ayer. Their first stint working together was very successful with the audience, making it a box office hit. Now, A Working Man seems to replicate that formula because the audience is widely different than the critics' on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jason Statham's A Working Man debuted with a score of 64% on the review-aggregator website. While the score wasn't exciting, it was above the 60% threshold and it maintained a "fresh" badge. One day later, as more reviews came in, the action film lost that privilege and currently has a score of 53% from the critics.
However, the audience score is more enthusiastic. The movie just hit theaters, and the early moviegoers...

As the polarizing Snow White remake continues to garner grumpy reactions from critics and fans, it appears the film's set for a sleepy second weekend at the box office. The Disney live-action adaptation is on track for a significant second-weekend dropoff as the controversy surrounding it continues to be its biggest talking point.
Per Deadline, the Rachel Zegler-led Snow White reinterpretation's domestic box-office return is projected to drop by 53% during its second weekend in cinemas, earning around $20 million. Despite the dropoff, the Snow White remake is expected to remain at the top of the box office charts, with its stiffest competition coming from Jason Statham's action film, A Working Man, and Death of a Unicorn, the new horror comedy featuring Ant-Man franchise star Paul Rudd and former Scream film series actor Jenna Ortega.

Princess Mononoke did not come to play during its highly anticipated re-release after slathering on some warpaint and going for the jugular with $1.2M in previews, edging out David Ayer and Jason Statham’s A Working Man by a slight margin. Princess Mononoke, one of filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki’s most outstanding cinematic achievements, returned to cinemas this week at 330 Imax locations with a shiny 4K print. The special screenings are a treat for fans of the 1997 animated epic, especially those who’ve not seen it on the silver screen.
In Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke, a cursed young warrior named Ashitaka stumbles into a conflict between the people of Iron Town and Princess Mononoke, a girl raised by wolves who will stop at nothing to prevent the destruction of her home. Can Ashitaka and the princess topple the sinister forces of Iron Town before they destroy the sacred land? Watch the movie and find out!

Jason Statham is back to make yet another case for his place atop the current, disappointingly uncrowded B-Movie Star mountain. The actor has kept busy as of late by starring at least once a year in an entertaining, usually well-received mid-budget action thriller, and 2025 is no exception to that trend. He is the star of this week’s “A Working Man,” a new vigilante thriller that should not only satisfy fans of last year’s “The Beekeeper” but also marks a behind-the-scenes reunion between that film’s star and director.

David Ayer is a filmmaker whose sincerity has never been in doubt, as he is one of the few writer/directors of genre stories that has refused to give into snarkiness or overt satire. The grim, tough-minded sensibilities that worked so perfectly for “End of Watch” may have failed him with “Bright,” but it is nonetheless admirable that Ayer doesn’t believe he should speak down to his audience. Ayer’s films don’t lack self-awareness, but they don’t apologize for their blunt emotionality and occasionally simplistic messaging. Despite flirtations with both the prestige and the populist, Ayer has found a niche for himself with movies like A Working Man (2025) which offer enough B-movie thrills and non-nonsense pathos to be completely entertaining.

The first quarter of the 2025 box-office season wraps up this weekend — and the results are grim. Hollywood continues to fail to deliver compelling content; reviews for all four new releases this weekend range from "mixed" to outright "rotten," signaling a disconnect between what studios are pushing and what audiences want. The lone standout of 2025 so far is Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World, which remains the only film to surpass $100 million domestically. As March fades out like a lamb, the box-office lion that studios hoped for never showed up.
Disney's Snow White, surrounded by more controversy than any family-targeting musical should, appears poised to hold onto the top spot for another week. The fairy-tale remake, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, will face competition from several newcomers, including Amazon MGM Studios' A Working Man, A24's Death of a Unicorn, Universal Pictures' The Woman in the Yard, and Sony Pictures Classics' The Penguin Lessons.

It's been a rough start to 2025 at the box office. As of this writing, domestic ticket sales are down around seven percent compared to this time last year. Put simply, we need a hit, and we need it badly. So, can "A Minecraft Movie," the long-awaited cinematic adaptation of the eponymous video game of the same name, be that hit? It certainly has the makings of a huge success, but that doesn't guarantee anything, particularly in the pandemic era. The bigger question is, can this break through the noise and galvanize the massive "Minecraft" fanbase in a meaningful way?
"A Minecraft Movie" is currently eyeing a three-day domestic debut in the $55 to $68 million range, per Box Office Theory. That would be one of the biggest domestic openings of the year thus far, trailing only "Captain America: Brave New World" ($88 million). However, Marvel's latest fizzled quickly and has barely topped $400 million globally to date.

Fan favorite Jason Statham is almost always guaranteed to get seats in the theaters despite his movies often being at odds with critics. This trend will likely continue with A Working Man landing in theaters this weekend. It offers an action-packed tale of an ex-operative turned blue-collar worker tasked with saving his boss's daughter. Moreover, it reunites David Ayer with Jason Statham after their success in The Beekeeper, which should have fans of the previous hit hyped up going into the theaters this weekend.

There was good reason to look forward to “A Working Man,” as it reunites Jason Statham with director David Ayer immediately after the pair had made the action star’s best movie in years, 2024’s “The Beekeeper.” Statham is dependably entertaining and Ayer has made some genuinely good films, including the nightmarishly tense “End of Watch.” Perhaps one day the director’s cut of “Suicide Squad” will rescue that film’s reputation.
But while “Beekeeper” was unhinged fun, eliciting cheers at Statham’s character’s creative ways of dispatching baddies, “Working Man” has different aims. And is, alas, significantly less fun.
It’s based on the Levon Cade novel series by veteran Batman and Punisher comics writer Chuck Dixon (the book in question is actually titled “Levon’s Trade: A Vigilante Justice Thriller”). The adaptation, by Statham’s “Expendables” costar and scripter Sylvester Stallone (who also wrote Statham’s “Homefront”) and Ayer,...

John Rambo, as portrayed by actor Sylvester Stallone, is a controversial character. When he first appeared in 1982's "First Blood," an adaptation of David Morrell's 1972 novel of the same name, the character was fairly close to how he appeared in the book: a Vietnam War veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who is mistreated by his fellow countrymen. That all changed with 1985's "Rambo: First Blood Part II," a movie wherein Rambo, through the act of being deployed back into Vietnam to rescue prisoners of war, symbolically gets to "win" the war that America lost. From there, the rest of the franchise saw Rambo being called upon for assistance by other underdogs involved in impossible or hard-odds conflicts around the world, turning him into a sort of morally-motivated mercenary. While the character eventually stopped resembling the resentful, broken soldier of Morrell's book as he became stronger and more traditionally heroic,...

Upon first glance, A Working Man appears to be cut from the same cloth that bore 2008’s Taken. But, whereas Pierre Morel’s film was more of a cathartic release for a parent wronged by kidnappers, A Working Man finds its heart in the soul of a man who is simply trying to protect the family that was there for him when no one else was.
The film begins with a brief introduction to the character of Levon Cade (Jason Statham) as he is seen working on a construction site as a foreman of sorts. His previous career within military black ops is hinted at during the opening credit montage and then suggested at further when a co-worker of his is accosted by gang members attempting to collect a debt and Cade thwarts their attempt. However, when the daughter of Cade’s boss (Michael Peña) is kidnapped to be sold into slavery,...

David Ayer, the director of films like The Beekeeper, Fury, and 2016's Suicide Squad, has seemingly accepted that his cut of the superhero film based on nothing but villains won't be released any time soon - but that doesn't mean he is giving up on it either. On social media, the director often addresses the existence of his director's cut, and, like with Zack Snyder's Justice League, internet legions have created the hashtag movement #ReleaseTheAyerCut. However, Warner Bros. has not heard the pleas as they did with Snyder, and Suicide Squad: The Director's Cut remains a shelved movie.

After a lackluster $42 million opening weekend and soft mid-week returns, the outlook is bleak for Disney’s “Snow White.” But despite that, it is expected to hold on to No. 1 even as five wide releases, including Amazon MGM’s “A Working Man” and A24’s “Death of a Unicorn,” are set to hit theaters.
Between Monday and Wednesday, the latest Disney remake grossed $8.6 million, bringing its domestic total to $50.8 million after six days. By comparison, the 2019 remake of “Dumbo,” opened to $45.9 million and grossed $9.8 million in its first Mon.-Wed. period before earning a second weekend total of $18.2 million, a 60% drop from its opening weekend.
“Snow White” should have a similar second weekend total, perhaps doing a little better and cracking $20 million. The one bit of good news for the film is that reception has been strong among family and female audiences, the core audience Disney needs to leg out through spring break.

Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone have collaborated on multiple projects over the years, and we’re not just talking about the four Expendables movies they made together. Stallone also wrote the screenplay for the 2013 Statham action film Homefront, which was directed by Gary Fleder and based on a novel by Chuck Logan. Now, Statham and Stallone are continuing their working relationship with the action thriller A Working Man, which also reunites Statham with his The Beekeeper director David Ayer – and looks to be very much along the same lines as that film. A Working Man is set to reach theatres on March 28th, and in anticipation of its release, we decided to put together a list of everything we know about the movie. Here we go:

One of the biggest stories this week circulating around Hollywood is the fact that Disney, as a reaction to Snow White opening way below expectations, seems to be pinning the blame for the film’s failure on its divisive young star, Rachel Zegler. Indeed, the studio seems to be cutting its losses, and as a result, the movie isn’t expected to maintain much of an audience this weekend. However, it is still a family movie in a month with little competition, so it should be able to gross in the $20 million-ish region this weekend.

Jason Statham's name is synonymous with action and violence-packed films. Now, the audience will be treated to his latest film, A Working Man.
The action film reunites him with David Ayer, the filmmaker with whom Statham made box office magic in 2024 with The Beekeeper. The previous entry was so successful, and their collaboration went great, so they got back to work on a new action film. Ahead of its release on Friday, Mar. 28, A Working Man has just debuted with a score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Although his films usually follow a formulaic path, with Statham's character always fighting the bad guys, his films never fail to bring people to the theaters. However,A Working Man hasn't impressed the critics yet, as the movie debuted with a merely passable score of 64% out of 44 reviews, still enough to hold on to a "fresh" badge. The score might fluctuate as more reviews come in,...

Filmmaker David Ayer is a man of few words. It’s not that he doesn’t have anything to say, far from it. No, like his explosive action, he’s quick, to the point and knows exactly what he wants to say and how to say it. He’s refreshing in that way, the guy who can call “bullshit” in a room of people saying absolutely nothing. Nothing reflects that mentality quite like his most recent work, “Beekeeper and now, “A Working Man.”
Having gone through the IP trenches with DC’s “The Suicide Squad” and then Netflix’s “Bright,” which felt like somewhat of an extension of that corporate ethos, Ayer’s come out the other side and rediscovered something potent.

Some cinephiles experience movies in such a way that they refuse to accept that certain films can be made with the simple goal of entertaining their target audience, vehemently arguing that every single flick must leave an unbelievably memorable impact on viewers. Personally, I believe the seventh art has room for all kinds of stories, so I find this way of thinking and watching cinema rather restrictive and quite selfish. This preface serves to justify the moderate, superficial expectations for A Working Man, directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad), co-written by Ayer himself and Sylvester Stallone (Creed II), and starring Jason Statham (The Beekeeper).
Levon Cade (Statham) left behind a decorated military career in covert operations to live a simple life in construction. But when his boss’ daughter is taken by human traffickers, his quest to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he could have ever imagined.

David Ayer reunites with his star of The Beekeeper, Jason Statham, for their new action flick, A Working Man. While doing press for his new film, Ayer talks with The Hollywood Reporter and one story he will undoubtedly get asked about is his notorious passion to get his version of Suicide Squad from 2016 to screen to an audience. THR asked if WB, DC and James Gunn were still silent on the matter and Ayer replied, “Yeah, for sure. When I did speak with James [Gunn], he wanted to [first] get some scores on the board. DC has its history and its legacy, and it’s taking some work to reestablish that IP and get it moving in the direction they want. So it’s absolutely fair for them to do that.”

The action moviemaking duo of Jason Statham and director David Ayer continue to deliver following last year’s The Beekeeper, with their latest effort, this month’s A Working Man, now landing a knockout score on Rotten Tomatoes. While The Stath consistently delivers in the action department, his movies don’t always succeed with the critics. Thankfully, A Working Man does both, as the newly revealed “fresh” score confirms.
While not quite reaching the buzzing heights of The Beekeeper’s 71%, A Working Man is not far behind. The action thriller now stands at a solid 67% at time of writing, with critics heaping praise on Statham and Ayer’s return. MovieWeb’s own Julian Roman heaped praise on A Working Man, and can now feel The Stath’s next action franchise incoming...

More drudgery at the spring break box office. Five — count ’em, five — wide releases are going this weekend in 1,000-plus theaters. None of them of will be able to put Disney’s embattled Snow White to sleep, with the live-action take on the Disney 1937 toon doing hopefully around $20M in Weekend 2, -53%. The princess who connects with birds and Bambis will have a hold that’s on par to live-action reimaginings of old Disney toons Maleficent and Cinderella, both of which eased by 48%. Snow White remains the fairest with a mix of Imax and PLFs. She’ll be sharing Imax with another Princess — Princess Mononoke.

David Ayer's new action film, A Working Man, starring Jason Statham, is hitting theaters this Friday. The two hope to recreate the box office success they had with 2024's The Beekeeper. If the film proves successful, Ayer recently revealed that he could envision the movie launching a brand-new action franchise and says he would be up for directing a sequel.
Ayer's latest collaboration with Statham, A Working Man, is based on Chuck Dixon’s novel Levon’s Trade, which is the first of a twelve-book series. When asked by The Hollywood Reporter whether he would make a sequel, given the film's ending, Ayer noted that there was plenty of source material to pull from and believes a sequel is in the cards if given the green light. "Yeah, absolutely. Chuck wrote 12 books," Ayer said. "It’s a really interesting character. I feel like we cracked the code with Jason and worldizing Chuck’s novels.

Jason Statham is back, and this time he’s taking a page straight out of Liam Neeson’s Taken playbook in A Working Man, a kill-heavy, testosterone-fuelled action thriller from director David Ayer. Written and produced by Sylvester Stallone, the film leans hard into the gritty, old-school action formula, delivering brutal fight sequences, endless machismo, and dialogue that could’ve been ripped straight from a 1980s direct-to-video flick.
Statham plays Levon Cade, a former Royal Marine turned construction worker who just wants to live a quiet life with his daughter. But when his boss’s daughter goes missing, Cade is forced back into the fray, taking on a network of ruthless Russian criminals with nothing but his fists, an arsenal of weapons, and a set of very speacial skills. It’s all very Taken-meets-John Wick, but without about as much charm as a rusty chainsaw in a dentist’s office.

Jason Statham and director David Ayer give vile human traffickers a brutal comeuppance in A Working Man, a bone-crushing actioner that delivers exactly what audiences expect.Sylvester Stallone adapts the script from the novel Levon's Trade by Chuck Dixon, the first in a popular series of 12 books. Can you smell the franchise cooking? A Working Man is chock-full of archetypal characters with the requisite damsel in distress, loathsome villains, and a butt-kicking hero unfairly maligned for trying to do the right thing against daunting odds. There are honestly not many surprises, but you'll walk out of the theater sufficiently entertained.
Levon Cade (Jason Statham) works diligently as the construction foreman for the Garcia family. The former Royal Marine Commando has ostensibly settled for a peaceful life with his young daughter, Merry (Isla Gie). She lives with her grieving maternal grandfather, who blames Cade for his daughter's passing. Joe Garcia (Michael Peña) and his wife,...

The reliable bruiser re-teams with director David Ayer for a bland Sylvester Stallone-scripted thriller of fisticuffs and familiarity
The new Jason Statham movie is based on a novel called Levon’s Trade, which is a pretty good title. But A Working Man is a better Jason Statham title, because who’s better, or at least more reliable, at punching in for duty at the genre factory than Stath? Pushing 60, he’s still throwing those punches, sometimes aided by Jackie Chan-like props, and increasingly aided by those old-guy action-movie crutches of firearms and grenades.
A Working Man is Statham’s insta-follow-up to his biggest hit in years, 2024’s January-movie ideal The Beekeeper; it’s not a sequel, but it’s also directed by David Ayer, extending his break from cops and gangs to send Statham off to combat some more broadly agreed-upon social ills with vaguely QAnon undertones. Last time,...

It's a truth universally acknowledged, that even the most balanced moviegoing diet needs some cinematic junk food thrown in there every now and then. Don't get me wrong — it'd be nice if every action blockbuster rose to the same heights of a "Mad Max: Fury Road" or if every popcorn flick could channel the ruthless efficiency of a Tony Scott film. But we don't live in that ideal world and, frankly, it'd probably be a little boring if we did. Make no mistake: At a time when we can't afford to be picky about what brings audiences to theaters, there is definitely room for empty calorie entertainment.
Into this wildly imperfect ecosystem steps "A Working Man," the next collaboration between star Jason Statham and director David Ayer, the pair that last brought us the ridiculous B-movie joys of "The Beekeeper." This time around, they've teamed up for another gimmicky, shoot-em-up...

Jason Statham is good at his job, which explains why he keeps booking the same kinds of movies — well, that and the fact that people keep watching them. Reuniting the British action star with “The Beekeeper” writer-director David Ayer, “A Working Man” makes the least effort yet to provide backstory or motive before sending Statham’s latest character, Levon Cade, on a spectacularly violent rampage. Statham’s responsibility here is to make the Royal Marines veteran turned Chicago construction foreman look experienced enough to do serious damage, without directly repeating the dozen other movies in which he’s done so already.
Statham plays the “reluctant” vigilante, putting aside his uniquely lethal skill set for a respectable job and shared custody of his young daughter (Isla Gie), which isn’t so easy while living out of a rented pickup truck. Before the trouble starts, Levon is beloved by all, with co-workers...

Things aren’t going very well for Jason Statham’s character in the actor’s new action vehicle. He’s sleeping in his car, desperately in need of funds for the legal fees necessary to secure custody of his young daughter (Isla Gie) from her grandfather. And although he has a solid job as a construction foreman, trouble always seems to come his way, as when he’s forced to reveal his tremendous fighting skills when a gang of toughs show up to threaten one of his workers.
“You didn’t see anything,” he tells his boss’ daughter Jenny (Arrianna Rivas) after she witnesses him in action and guesses correctly that he’s no mere working man, despite the film’s title.
Not long afterward, Jenny goes to a local bar and winds up missing. Her distraught parents (Michael Peña, Noemi Gonzalez), aware of their employee’s elite military past,...

Jason Statham’s Levon Cade isn’t just a simple “working man.” Sure, he’s putting in the sweat equity as a foreman at his friend Joe’s (Michael Peña) construction company, but it’s not long into David Ayer’s film before we learn of his past as a highly trained and decorated member of the British military. Full of close-ups of bullets, dog tags, helmets, and British and American flags, the opening credits serve up a barrage of images of military fetishization, only for the film to leave us with the realization that Levon’s service was underappreciated.
Not only is Levon blamed by his rich ex-father-in-law (Richard Heap) for the death of his mother—she committed suicide while he was serving overseas—but his lawyers suggest that his untreated Ptsd will make it difficult for him to get custody of his daughter (Isla Gie). The notion of...

Plot: Levon Cade (Jason Statham) is an ex-commando who now works as the foreman of a construction site in Chicago. When human traffickers abduct the teen daughter of his employer (Michael Pena), Levon snaps back into commando mode only to discover her abductors are deeply embedded with a secret faction of the Russian mob. Naturally, all hell breaks loose.
Review: Jason Statham and David Ayer have a nice thing going. The Beekeeper revitalized their careers to a certain extent, with Ayer putting a superb polish on what could have been a run-of-the-mill action flick, turning into perhaps Statham’s best solo action vehicle. And now, they’re back at it again with the Sylvester Stallone-penned A Working Man, which is based on the novel “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon (a way better title than the Seagal-like A Working Man).
Like The Beekeeper, it allows Statham to play expertly to type.

With a Jason Statham-starring movie you know upfront what to expect. A Working Man is no different. In fact, I don’t know why they bother to give these movies titles. Just call it Jason Statham and put a number after that for all the inevitable sequels.
A Working Man seems set up to start a franchise for Statham in which he plays Levon Cade, a former Royal Guard soldier now working as a blue collar Chicago construction worker who is trying to be a good family man grieving the loss of his wife and attempting to get custody of their daughter, Merry (Isla Gie) whose grandfather is attempting to take away from Levon. A Working Man may be the Jason Statham-iest film ever to Stath. With its man-on-a-mission, hunt-for-a-kidnapped-girl narrative, it borrows wholeheartedly from the likes of Commando and Taken, and effectively steals from John Wick in the “weapons sommelier” played by David Harbour. But this is first and foremost a Jason Statham film, boiled down to its essential ingredients — losing all flavour and substance in the process.
Statham ostensibly plays a character called Levon Cade, but in a very real, more accurate sense, he plays a character called ‘Jason Statham’: a tough guy with a mysterious military past and an unplaceable Essex-by-way-of-Beverly-Hills accent who dispatches a succession of forgettable goons in order to save the day. It is exactly the same type found in all his recent roles, often in films with similar job-title titles: The Mechanic, The Transporter, The Beekeeper.
The last — which featured the appalling line, “To bee or not to bee!

Ever since Jason Statham shot to stardom, I’ve found myself quite the fan. Whether it’s Crank, The Transporter, or Safe, I dig the guy. And his latest, the David Ayer directed A Working Man, happens to offer a fun time with the on-screen action. Jason Statham portrays Levon Cade, a good dad and a construction worker. However, when a local girl is taken, he decides to help out a friend, and retool his special skills. Yep, the dude has a history in the world of counter-terrorism. The film also stars Michael Pena, Jason Flemyng, and David Harbour.

Whether he’s an ex-assassin-turned-beekeeper, or an assassin posing as a mechanic, an ex- Special Forces soldier dragged out of retirement for one last mission, or even just a run-of-the-mill unlicensed street salesman, Jason Statham always brings a gritty magnetism to the screen. Even when what’s playing on the screen has been panned by both critics and audiences alike. Such is the case with the 2013 action thriller, Parker, which is now headed to free streaming.
But, while Parker may have been panned at the time, it’s worth a watch for anyone looking for a reliably charming performance from The Stath, who once again demonstrates his particular set of skills in this tale of a professional thief who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead.
Directed by Taylor Hackford and written by John J. McLaughlin, Parker sees Jason Statham team-up with Jennifer Lopez while facing off against The Shield star Michael Chiklis.

For David Ayer, 2024’s The Beekeeper was exactly what the doctor ordered.
The action-thriller starring Jason Statham was a critical and commercial win for Ayer, grossing over $160 million against a $40 million budget. The second-most profitable film in the filmmaker’s body of work couldn’t have happened at a better time since he’d gone through various ups and downs following the release of 2016’s Suicide Squad. Consequently, Ayer and Statham quickly re-upped their newly minted partnership for A Working Man, which is an adaptation of Chuck Dixon’s Levon’s Trade, the first installment in his dozen-book series.
Sylvester Stallone penned the initial draft of the script before passing the material on to his frequent collaborator, Statham. The story centers on a blue-collar construction worker named Levon Cade who reluctantly reconnects with his Royal Marines Commando skill set in order to recover his boss’ (Michael Pena) kidnapped daughter.
