Will Forte admits Will Ferrell is a tough act to follow.
While chatting with fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Amy Poehler on her “Good Hang” podcast, Forte, who joined the show in 2002 after Ferrell’s final season, discussed the burden of playing George W. Bush on “SNL.”
“It was a huge cast,” Forte said. “It was, like, 17 people, you’re trying to get you’re stuff on, you’re trying to get noticed. And then I got, somehow, the George Bush role.”
Although it was a great opportunity to prove himself, Forte explained that impressions were not his strong suit, and that his placement in the role of Bush was “a match not made in heaven.” On top of that, Ferrell’s take on Bush is one of the most iconic impersonations in “SNL” history, setting Forte’s bar impossibly high.

Crime dramas are a treat to watch, but they don’t always hit the mark. Case in point: Scott Caan’s Alert: Missing Persons Unit. Sure, it might be someone’s guilty pleasure, but the critics all agree that the series isn’t really something to remember. Despite being created by superstars John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx, the show failed to impress critics and even the audience.
After three seasons, Alert has been canceled by Fox, and honestly, some are wondering how the show even made it to a third season. For those few who actually enjoyed the series, here’s the real reason why the crime drama had to come to an abrupt end.

Fox's crime drama and sleeper hit The Cleaning Lady has been canceled after four seasons. Inspired by the Argentinian series La Chica Que Limpia, the show debuted on Fox in January 2022, and focused on Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon who becomes a cleaner and doctor for a prominent crime organization in Las Vegas, while pursuing a liver-saving bone marrow treatment for her young son. The show's first season averaged around three million viewers, but this had dropped to one million by The Cleaning Lady season 4.
Per Deadline, The Cleaning Lady has been canceled by Fox just three months after season 4 premiered. Despite a series of creative shakeups for The Cleaning Lady season 4, ratings were ultimately low, and the show aired its final episode on the network on June 3. It was canceled alongside other struggling shows, including Alert, The Great North, and Accused.

Fox has canceled its drama series Alert: Missing Persons Unit and The Cleaning Lady.
The decision comes shortly after the two shows wrapped their 2024-25 seasons: Alert aired its last episode on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady finished up on June 3. They end their runs on Fox after three and four seasons.
The cancellations are not a big surprise, as Alert and The Cleaning Lady were at the lower end of Fox’s ratings for the season. In seven-day linear ratings (not including streaming), Alert averaged 2.16 million viewers and The Cleaning Lady, 1.68 million, well below the totals for renewed dramas Doc (4.6 million) and Murder in a Small Town (3.15 million). Fox also canceled first-year drama Rescue: Hi-Surf in May.
With the cancellations, Fox has just two shows still awaiting word on their futures. Animated series The Great North is running through the summer, and the network probably won’t make a decision for a while.

Fox has determined the fate of two bubble shows, canceling dramas Alert: Missing Persons Unit after three seasons and The Cleaning Lady after four.
The network had delayed final decisions on its remaining bubble series until after their current seasons had aired. Alert wrapped its Season 3 run on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady‘s fourth season ended on June 3.
The cancellations do not come as a surprise as Alert, The Cleaning Lady as well as the other two Fox scripted series not picked up for next season, Accused and The Great North, sit at the bottom of the network’s 2024-25 season rankings.
Animated comedy The Great North also is expected to be canceled once its current fifth season ends later this month.
As for anthology Accused, developed and executive produced by Howard Gordon, it might come back in the future for a limited run as an event, Michael Thorn,...

Patterson received widespread critical acclaim for her performance as Judy Gemstone in HBO’s hit megachurch comedy The Righteous Gemstones, where she starred alongside fellow Range client Danny McBride, John Goodman, and Adam Devine. Other previous work for Patterson includes playing the ill-fated maid Fran in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, the holiday action-comedy Violent Night (where she stars opposite David Harbour and John Leguizamo), and seven episodes of The Last O.G. with Tracy Morgan. According to the Deadline.com and their sources, the people over at Fox have not currently put in a renewal order for a new season 5 of The Cleaning Lady. That means tonight's finale episodes 11 and 12 may very well have been the last episodes forever. We'll have to sit back and wait and see for right now. Deadline is telling us that The Cleaning Lady is one of the 4th lowest ranked scripted shows on Fox. So, that is likely a reason why Fox hasn't been quick to jump at a chance to renew it just yet. Michael Thorn who is the President of Fox Television Network did have some nice things to say about The Cleaning Lady and a couple of their other scripted shows saying, "The Cleaning Lady, Alert and The Great North are still in the middle of their runs.

It’s no secret that the linear TV industry has been in a state of contraction. But during a time when shows often have a lifespan of one to four seasons, there’s been one behemoth quietly holding down the fort: adult animation.
“The Simpsons” and “South Park” have always been giants. But in recent years, the subgenre of animated half-hour programs aimed at adults has truly exploded. Demand for titles like “Rick and Morty” increased 152% between January 2020 and October 2023, according to Parrot Analytics. This was partially due to the Covid pandemic, but that fandom has continued, not just in terms of viewership but merchandising revenue, convention panels and a vibrant online community around most titles.
And this isn’t just a niche fandom. Two of Fox’s “Animation Domination” darlings — “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers” — ended 2024 as the No. 3 and No. 4 most-streamed TV shows, respectively. During that year, “Family Guy” secured 42.4 billion viewing minutes,...

Fox is switching things up like never before during the 2025-2026 TV season, and it’s bad news for fans of scripted TV.
The network will air just two live-action scripted dramas: Doc and Murder in a Small Town.
The drama duo will air on Tuesdays, meaning every other weeknight will be devoted to unscripted offerings.

After so many cancellations and so few scripted series in the network’s pipeline, it was inevitable that executives would reach this decision.
But still, it stings for many reasons. It showcases how far the broadcast networks have fallen regarding ratings, impacting profitability.

Fox has unveiled its fall 2025 schedule and announced renewals and cancellations, but there are four shows missing: Accused, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, The Cleaning Lady, and The Great North. During a conference call with reporters, Michael Thorn, President, Fox Television Network, Fox Entertainment, addressed their fates. “The Cleaning Lady, Alert, and Great North are still in the middle of their runs, and we love the teams and those shows and I think there’ll be more to come after they finish their current seasons. As you know, we order series all year round. The upfronts for us is one cycle of ordering and there will definitely be more sometime probably later this summer,” he said. Accused wrapped its second season in December 2024, and while Fox isn’t saying it’s renewed or canceled, there are no plans for ...

Fox is promising a “bigger, bolder and more daring” version of the old dare show Fear Factor for its midseason lineup, but it’s unclear for now whether former host Joe Rogan will be a part of the reinvented series.
While talking to reporters Sunday in anticipation of Fox’s upfront presentation Monday, Entertainment President Michael Thorn said it was too early to say whether Rogan will return to feed Madagascar hissing roaches to participants in Fear Factor: The Next Chapter (working title).
“We just ordered the series and we are in the process of hiring showrunners and everything right now,” said Thorn. “Obviously he’s major talent tied to the show, but it’s too early for us to say how we’re going to move forward right now. But we’re thrilled to have the property and think we’re going to be able to really compliment our unscripted lineup with it.
