Him: When Sports Worship Turns to Horror
Image
Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has made a name out of turning everyday institutions into nightmare fuel — suburbia (Get Out), vacations (Us), blockbuster spectacle (Nope). Now, with Him, Peele and company aim their gaze at America’s true religion: football. Him takes the feel-good sports movie and slams it helmet-first into ritual sacrifice, cult vibes, and pure fever dream madness.

Helmed by genre newcomers, director and writer Justin Tipping (Kicks), and writers Skip Bronkie and Zack Akers (creators of the hit audio drama Limetown), Him takes the all-American sports movie and twists it into a fever dream of violence, obsession, and sacrifice.

The cast mixes familiar faces and left-field surprises:...

Him: There's Only Room For One Goat In Twisted New Trailer For Jordan Peele-Produced Sports Horror Movie
Image
What would you sacrifice to become the greatest of all time?

Universal Pictures has released a new trailer and two posters for upcoming Jordan Peele-produced sports horror movie, Him, which is set to hit theaters next month.

Described as "a chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, idolatry and the pursuit of excellence at any cost," the movie stars Marlon Wayans as legendary football star Isaiah White, who takes promising up-and-comer Cameron Cade (Tyriq Withers) under his wing.

Cam is initially delighted to train under the man he looks up to as a hero, but it soon becomes clear that White's extremely unorthodox methods cross more than a few lines - and may end up costing Cam his soul (literally).

Has White made some kind of deal with a demonic force, or is there a more rational explanation? Check out the new trailer below and let us know...

From Headphones to Hits: 13 Fiction Podcasts That Need to Be Adapted to the Small Screen
Image
It’s no secret that we’re living in the era of streaming saturation and IP gold rushes to the point of fatigue.

Ironically, the most overlooked goldmine television has barely tapped into is what flows directly to our ears: fiction podcasts!

As one of a handful of things that carried me through the pandemic, I can attest to how audio dramas have been quietly and carefully crafting deeply cinematic, emotionally charged, and narratively daring stories for years.

(Colin Bentley/The CW)

Shockingly, only a few have leaped to television. Homecoming, Limetown, and Archive 81 are among the most notable.

But there are so many that still lie in wait for someone to pluck them up, negotiate accordingly, and bring them from our headphones to our small screens.

Him: A Quarterback's Obsession Turns Sinister In Jordan Peele Produced Horror Film Nsfw
Image
Get ready for a new Jordan Peele horror experience that will be sure to leave you sidelined with chills! The upcoming sports horror film, Him, will tackle theaters on September 19, 2025, and the initial footage suggests a nightmare far more sinister than a late-season away game.

Him throws audiences headfirst into the pressure cooker world of professional football, where a promising young quarterback finds himself with a golden ticket: an invitation to train at the isolated, state-of-the-art facility of a legendary, albeit past-his-prime, signal-caller.

The setup hints at a collision of worlds, a blend of the intense sports drama of Friday Night Lights with the claustrophobic dread of Misery, mixed with a touch of the unsettling psychological horror of The Babadook.

The official description paints a grim picture, calling Him a "blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power, and the pursuit of excellence at any cost." This first look...

Trending is a Gen-z focused company that includes Ace Entertainment, which was founded by Kaplan, Call Her Daddy and talent network The Unwell Network.

Meta Content Exec Mina Lefevre Leaves As Facebook Watch Ends Originals; ‘Red Table Talk’ Being Shopped
Image
Exclusive: Mina Lefevre, who was Head of Development and Programming at Meta, is departing Facebook’s parent company.

Lefevre, who was formerly EVP and Head of Scripted at MTV, is exiting as part of the latest round of layoffs at the Mark Zuckerberg-run company, which has seen more than 20,000 employees leave.

The departure comes amid a pivot for Facebook, which already had scaled back its original programming efforts since the days of scripted series such as Elizabeth Olsen-fronted Sorry For Your Loss and Sacred Lies, shepherded by Lefevre.

None of the remaining Fb Watch Originals, most notably Red Table Talk, are coming back for new seasons as the company is getting out of that business, shifting its focus on creating VR experiences in Meta Horizon Worlds that can also be deployed across Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Fb Watch remains as video player for such content, while members of Lefevre’s team,...

10 Hidden Gem TV Shows On Peacock From The 2010s
Image
Earlier this year, The Vampire Diaries left its longtime home on Netflix and is now currently available to stream on Peacock. Although the NBC streaming service is still relatively new to the game, getting that series was a big move as it is one of the most iconic shows of the 2010s.

While those huge shows from the era are easy to pick out like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Bates Motel, Peacock also offers up some great hidden gems. Those are the series from the decade that weren't watched all that much or were forgotten about but deserve more shine.

Mr. Mercedes (2017-2019)

There are so many Stephen King adaptations that are famous throughout history but he has written so much that it lines up that some have flown under the radar. Among them is Mr. Mercedes, which is a TV take on the Bill Hodges novels written by him.

Monkeypaw Lands Rights To Sports-Themed Psychological Horror Goat
Jordan Peele
Hot on the heels of the final trailer for Jordan Peele's latest film, "Nope," comes the news that Peele's Monkeypaw Productions has won a bidding war for a new psychological horror movie pitch called "Goat" from Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the duo behind the "Limetown" TV series. Go watch any A24 horror film, and you're liable to see a goat somewhere; perhaps it will even be a talking goat, recruiting a young Puritan woman into a life of witchcraft by encouraging her to "live deliciously." However, in the case of this Monkeypaw project, "Goat" refers not to Black Philip or some such farm animal, but to the acronym used...

Monkeypaw Lands Psychological Horror Pitch ‘Goat’
Image
Exclusive: Following a competitive bidding war, Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has landed the film pitch Goat, with Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie penning the script. The pitch will fall under Monkeypaw’s overall deal with Universal Pictures.

Though the title hints at something revolving around everyone’s favorite farm animal, it is actually in reference to the sports acronym “Greatest Of All Time,” aka Goat, which is thrown around when debating today and yesterday’s sports legends. For this film, the story centers on a promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.

The pitch goes into Monkeypaw’s diverse slate of projects as the company continues to stay busy. Next up on features side is Peele’s film Nope, which marks his next directing gig and is already building buzz following the final trailer release today. That comes out July 22 with Universal.

How Jessica Biel Finds Intrigue with ‘Candy’ from Every Angle
Image
For Jessica Biel, nailing down the specific look of Candy Montgomery, a real-life 1980s Texas housewife that is not all she seems to be, “was my most important thing.”

She told IndieWire in a recent Zoom interview that her and creators Robin Veith and Nick Antosca went into production on the new Hulu limited series event “Candy” trying to make sure their titular character would not be perceived as a caricature, “but when we tried on the wigs, we thought, ‘Oh, you know what, this actually is going to work.’ And then we put the glasses on and we all went, ‘Oh my God, this is going to work!’”

Biel recalled that her daily transformation into Montgomery was “Wig, costume, and then I’d step on set, glasses, and that was the linchpin of the look. That was the last thing that always went on.” Though it was only a half hour endeavor,...

Candy Trailer: Jessica Biel Has an Axe to Grind With Melanie Lynskey in Hulu's True Crime Series
Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel has turned in powerhouse performances on The Sinner, Limetown, and 7th Heaven, but her next role might be her best yet.

Hulu on Wednesday unveiled the full-length trailer for its five-night event series, Candy, and it looks like another nuanced performance for the star.

"Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom," the logline teases, adding the following:

With deadly results.

The trailer shows Biel as Candy and how her relationship with Betty Gore, played by the wonderful Melanie Lynskey, comes to a grinding halt.

Betty has a soft spot for Candy, with the two women forging a strong bond in such a short time.

However, things get complicated when Candy has an affair with Betty's husband,...
