If Miles Morales gets his own live-action Spider-Man movie anytime soon, Camaron Engels hopes to get the call to play the part. Best known for his role on the new Netflix series Clickbait, Engels sees the Miles Morales incarnation of Spidey as one of the roles he dreams of playing the most. The actor said as much when a fan suggested him for the role on Twitter, revealing that he's been actively trying to manifest it into reality.

"Watched #clickbaitnetflix, really engaging show," the tweet read. "Super bingeable, had a great time watching it. My biggest takeaway though is that Camaron Engels would make a great Miles Morales."

Responding to the tweet, Camaron Engels wrote, "Thanks man. One of my dream roles actually. Been manifesting it!"

Written by Astrof and to be directed by Tristram Shapeero, Pivoting follows three women — Amy (Coupe), Jodie (Goodwin) and Sarah (not yet cast) — after the death of their childhood best friend. Faced with the reality that life is short, in desperate attempts to find happiness, they make a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions, strengthening their bond and proving it’s never too late to screw up your life.

Neal will play Matt, a cute, guileless, trainer who, while not an intellectual, is a savant when it comes to fitness. A sheltered guy, he still lives with his mother. He is wildly attracted to Jodie (Goodwin) and respects her commitment to getting in shape.

Exclusive: Diego Tinoco, best known for the Netflix series, On My Block, and Siddiq Saunderson of Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga, will co-star In R#J, a modern-day adaptation of the Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet from producers Timur Bekmambetov and Igor Tsay. Carey Williams is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Rickie Castaneda.

Tinoco will take on the role of Tybalt. Saunderson is Mercutio. Additional cast includes Camaron Engels (Malibu Rescue) as Romeo, Francesca Noel (Selah and the Spades) as Juliet, and Rj Cyler (Power Rangers) as Benvolio.

This marks the first project under Bekmambetov and Tsay’s newly-launched Interface Films banner.

Camaron Engels, best known for Netflix teen show “Malibu Rescue,” and cast in the streamer’s upcoming series “Clickbait,” is to play Romeo in a new film adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet,” produced by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov and Igor Tsay, whose movie “Searching” raked in $75 million.

The project, with the working title “R#J,” is directed by Carey Williams, who won a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018 for his short “Emergency.” Francesca Noel, who appeared in the Sundance Labs film “Selah and the Spades,” will play Juliet.

“I’m thrilled to be presenting a timeless classic in a never before seen fashion, and giving people of color an opportunity to see themselves onscreen in these iconic roles. There have been many versions of ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ but there’s never been one quite like this,” Williams said.

Netflix has greenlighted The Big Show Show, a half-hour multi-camera family comedy series starring WWE superstar Big Show (real name Paul Wight). Also starring on the 10-episode series are Allison Munn and young actresses Reylynn Caster (American Housewife), Juliet Donenfeld (Pete the Cat) and Lily Brooks O’Briant (The Tick).

The live-action comedy comes from WWE Studios and writers Josh Bycel (Happy Endings) and Jason Berger (La to Vegas). Filming is slated to begin Aug 9.

In The Big Show Show, when the teenage daughter of Big Show (Wight), a retired world-famous WWE Superstar, comes to live with him, his wife and two other daughters, he quickly becomes outnumbered and outsmarted. Despite being 7 feet tall and weighing 400 pounds, he is no longer the center of attention.

Netflix has ordered 16 episodes of The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, a multi-camera Latinx comedy series co-created by Mario Lopez and Speechless and Melissa & Joey producer Seth Kurland.

The news Thursday comes after Netflix in March opted to cancel another Latin-centered family comedy, a remake of Norman Lear’s One Day at a Time, after three seasons.

The Expanding Universe will center on Ashley Garcia (newcomer Paulina Chavez), the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist, who gets the chance to work for Nasa. She moves across the country to live with her fun-loving Uncle Victor (Jencarlos Canela), a pro football player-turned-high school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can’t shirk.

Kurland is writing with Melissa & Joey creator David Kendall and will showrun the series. Kurland, Lopez and Kendall are executive producers. Mark Schulman at 3 Arts Entertainment will serve as a consultant.

Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland are teaming up for a new comedy series at Netflix.

Variety has learned that the streamer has given a 16 episode order to the multi-cam comedy “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia” co-created by Lopez and Kurland. In the series, when Ashley Garcia — the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist — gets the chance to work for Nasa, she moves across the country to live with her Uncle Victor, a pro football player turned high school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can’t shirk.

Newcomer Paulina Chavez will star as Ashley, while Jencarlos Canela will play Victor. Canela previously starred on the ABC series “Telenovela” and will appear in the upcoming ABC series “Grand Hotel,” in addition to starring in numerous Spanish language productions.

Chavez is repped by Cesd Talent Agency and Industry Entertainment. Canela is repped by CAA and DePaz Management.
