Propstore is set to kick off its latest Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles next week. One of the highlights of the auction is the screen-used Necronomicon from The Evil Dead. The piece comes from the collection of special effects master Tom Sullivan, who worked on the Evil Dead trilogy. Bidding will start at $25,000, but it is expected to go for anywhere between $50,000 and $100,000—not exactly a small chunk of change.
“This book is composed of a brown latex-coated cardboard cover filled with hand-illustrated 38 pages (glued together in pairs to form thicker pages) of parchment-color paper that were intentionally distressed by production,” reads the description of the Necronomicon in the auction listing. “The pages feature original artwork hand-illustrated by Sullivan, with his main inspiration for the imagery being Leonardo Da Vinci’s notebooks on anatomy. For the ancient symbols, Sullivan devised his own alphabet that he humorously called ‘Bullscrit.

Dennis Quaid's new Paramount+ crime series has debuted with a strong Rotten Tomatoes score from critics ahead of its premiere later this week. Quaid's best performances have often been in movies, the actor getting significant praise for his roles in movies like The Big Easy, Traffic, and Far from Heaven. His latest movies include two releases from 2024, portraying US President Ronald Reagan in the aptly-titled biopic Reagan, and TV show producer Harvey in The Substance. His upcoming movies include the crime drama Sovereign and the sci-fi action film War Machine.
However, Quaid is no stranger to TV, having had various parts on the small screen since the beginning of his career. Some of his bigger roles have come in the last decade or so, starring as Sheriff Ralph Lamb in 2012's period drama Vegas, and having a key role in Crackle's 2015 auction house series The Art of More.

Bruce Campbell first gained attention in the horror world when he starred as Ash Williams in the cult classic The Evil Dead in 1981. While the last two Evil Dead projects didn't feature Campbell on center stage, the actor has remained the face of the iconic horror franchise that Sam Raimi created. And though he has been in a number of movies and television shows since then, he'd still want to revisit the iconic character that helped shape him into the actor he is today. However, though the actor expressed his willingness to return to the Evil Dead realm, it is something he's only willing to do under one (understandable) condition.

Could Elsbeth be welcoming another The Good Wife alum back into the fold? Mike Colter certainly isn’t ruling it out. The actor, known for playing crime boss Lemond Bishop in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, spoke on a panel hosted by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt at Indiana Comic Con, where he shared his thoughts on a potential return to Robert and Michelle King’s legal universe. Colter revealed that he’s already been on the set of Elsbeth, CBS’ procedural spin-off starring Carrie Preston, and has close ties to several members of the cast. More importantly, he sees a path for his appearance on the show, but it depends on the right circumstances. Colter also noted that Michael Emerson, his co-star on Evil, was a recurring star on the series. He told audiences:...

A great villain can make or break a film and they have been a staple of storytelling since the dawn of cinema. There have been hundreds of incredible, iconic villains audiences have loved to hate. Some movies are even so rich as to have more than one of these incredible foes.
Villains can be used to gain a different perspective, or sometimes simply be agents of chaos to shake up the tale. No matter what, villains add so much flavor to a film, and more than one can be even more fun.

A new report suggests that the director of theResident Evil reboot will be paid handsomely for his work on the new film. The movie's theatrical release date is planned for late 2026.
Per Screen Rant, Hollywood insider Matthew Belloni claims that Sony Pictures will reportedly pay the Resident Evil reboot director, Zach Cregger, $20 million for writing, directing and producing. The salary is on top of Cregger's 20 backend points, which give him a share of the film's box office. Belloni also notes that Cregger's backend share is "non-reducible" with no option on sequels.
Last week, it was confirmed that Sony had won the bidding war for the rights to the Resident Evil franchise. The film's Sept. 18, 2026, release date was quickly announced. With box office totals of over $1.2 billion worldwide, Resident Evil is one of the highest-grossing video game film franchises, and it appears that Sony is willing to pay the film's director accordingly.

Jump scares are a staple of modern horror. The sudden jolt, the sharp musical sting, and the inevitable moment of relief after the initial shock can make for a thrilling experience. But horror doesn’t always come from things that go bump in the night. Some of the scariest movies in history don’t rely on bursts of adrenaline -- they crawl under your skin, haunt your thoughts, and linger in your nightmares.
These films prove that a horror movie doesn’t need to make you jump to be truly terrifying. Whether through psychological dread, eerie atmosphere, or the simple horror of human nature, each movie delivers a bone-chilling experience without resorting to sudden frights. If you’re looking for slow-burning terror, existential dread, or pure, unrelenting tension, these films are a must-watch.

Lady Gaga brought the Mayhem on Saturday, March 8, as she served as Saturday Night Live host and musical guest for the first time since 2013. But as the show’s cold open proved, there’s also mayhem in U.S. politics at the moment. Here are highlights from Saturday’s episode. Mike Myers channels Dr. Evil as Elon Musk Following reports of an explosive White House meeting between Marco Rubio and Elon Musk, Saturday’s SNL cold open riffed on the two men’s conflict, with Marcello Hernández playing the secretary of state and Mike Myers returning to play the billlionaire-turned-doge boss. And as Myers’ Musk fretted internally about his changing fortunes, the actor channeled another of his famous characters: Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers films. “My Tesla stock is crashing and my personal net worth just dropped by $100 billion dollars,” Myers’ Musk said via voiceover as Myers brought his...

Some astute fans of Elsbeth, CBS' quirky police procedural comedy / drama that stars Carrie Preston as the title character, think a famous director may have had an uncredited cameo. In the episode, which is titled Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, unconventional attorney Elsbeth Tascioni is trying to solve an old Mafia murder. She watches a fictional film about the show, City on a Knife Edge, and listens to director Francis Martino's commentary. And it appears none other than David Fincher was playing the voice of Martino.
Elsbeth is a spinoff of two popular CBS shows, The Good Wife (2009 to 2016), and The Good Fight (2017 to 2022), which featured Preston as Tascioni. The first season premiered on CBS on Feb. 29, 2024 and was quickly renewed for a second season by Apr. 2024. While the character is an unorthodox attorney, she uses her singular point-of-view to help solve cases. Preston won a Primetime Emmy in 2013 for...

All movies are political, especially horror, as Terrifier's Damien Leone recently found out the hard way. The sociopolitical message of Art the Clown might not be very overt, but for other horror films, it's right out in the open. Such is the case for a 2018 horror comedy cleverly titled President Evil. This low-budget film, co-written and directed by Richard Lowry, is part loving tribute to John Carpenter's Halloween, and part highly political satire, as its Michael Myers-esque killer stalks his minority victims while wearing a Donald Trump mask and carrying a butcher's knife with the American flag painted on the blade. President Evil will make you smile if you're a big Halloween fan. It'll also make you laugh, as well as angry, no matter which side of the political aisle you sit on. And that's the point.

It’s been more than 20 years since we last saw Seth Green on the big screen as Dr. Evil’s son, Scott, in the Austin Powers films. Now, there’s talk that a fourth movie might be in the works. Green shared his belief that another film could happen, especially after the warm reaction to a General Motors ad during the 2022 Super Bowl.
“I think it’s 50/50, that’s what’s so crazy because when we made that Super Bowl commercial a couple of years ago, everybody was just like ‘yeah, this totally functions, doesn’t it? It still feels like there’s mileage here,’” Green said. “When Mike did The Pentaverate, we talked a little bit about not necessarily doing like a sequel but I don’t even know if I should say this, but he said the same way that there’s an Austin Power’s trilogy, what if there was a Dr.

Fans of Disney+ and Marvel are eagerly awaiting the debut of Daredevil: Born Again. The new Disney+ series is a sequel to the Netflix show with Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer whose special abilities allow him to be the costumed crime fighter Daredevil.

At the end of the Feb. 16 broadcast of “SNL50,” a tribute to the half-century reign of “Saturday Night Live” over American culture, Martin Short thanked executive producer and series creator Lorne Michaels, calling him “the man who made our dreams come true.”
Michaels — relentlessly parodied in popular culture, including on that very broadcast — seems at once familiar and remote. On film, his whimsical, dismissive mien provided the basis for Mike Myers’ “Austin Powers” villain Dr. Evil; on “SNL50,” his putative best friends from growing up in Canada (played by Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen) roasted him for his imperious management style when they helped him move. Onstage, at the end of a three-hour-plus special that would seem to have crystallized his sensibility, he was affable, but let others do the talking for him.

Warning: This article contains Massive light novel spoilers for many of the isekai anime mentioned.
For over a decade now, isekai anime has been one of the most popular genres in the medium. It's easy to see why, given most series serve as power fantasies where the protagonists wield near-limitless power to smite wildly outclassed enemies. Yet what happens when the protagonists are struggling against the gods themselves?
Not every isekai anime is satisfied with merely having the main character build their own country or go against a mighty Demon King. Sometimes the challenge comes from the gods of that new world, who have their own problems with the protagonist. Whether they want the protagonist to obey them or just see the protagonist as just another toy to play with, some gods simply hate the main character.

Mermaid Legend is a 1984 feature from the late Toshiharu Ikeda (Evil Dead Trap) that had never been released in any format internationally or played at a film festival outside of its native home of Japan. In celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary, this rare exploitation film is rightfully given the chance for a brand-new audience to appreciate it.
The story introduces viewers to fisherman Keisuke Saeki (Jun Etoh) and his pearl-diver wife, Migiwa (Mari Shirato). They are newlyweds who may be growing at odds with each other, but love still remains between them. After witnessing a murder late one night, Keisuke finds that nobody believes him. Things worsen when the fisherman is soon killed by greedy land developers, leaving Migiwa framed for her husband’s murder.

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ballhas kept audiences entertained for over four decades, but Dragon Ball Daima has rejuvenated the franchise’s fandom while also drawing in curious newcomers. Dragon Ball Daima is a new 20-episode anime that draws heavy inspiration from Dragon Ball Gt as it tells a story sandwiched between Dragon Ball Z’s Buu Saga and Dragon Ball Super. Not only do Goku and company travel to the mysterious Demon Realm, they’re transformed into children courtesy of Gomah’s retaliatory Dragon Ball wish. Goku and Vegeta initially seem to be disadvantaged by their newly de-aged bodies, but Dragon Ball’s heroes quickly overcome this problem.
Some Dragon Ball fans were under the impression that Dragon Ball Daima would be limited in terms of the new transformations that it features, due to its placement in the franchise’s grander timeline. Dragon Ball Daima has subverted these expectations with Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 3 debut,...

Squid Game dominated the streaming charts, though it cooled off a good amount in its third week at No. 1. Landman also peaked following its season finale, and American Primeval had a strong debut.
For the week of Jan. 6-12, Squid Game racked up 2.37 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings. That’s down by about 48 percent from the previous week — but still almost a billion minutes clear of Landman in second place. Since the Dec. 26 premiere of season two, Squid Game has totaled 11.88 billion minutes of watch time in the United States.
As for Landman, its 1.38 billion minutes for the week leading into its Jan. 12 season finale continued the Paramount+ drama’s streak of improving every week it’s been on. It grew from 1.3 billion minutes a week earlier.
American Primeval, a western from Peter Berg, was the top premiere of the week with 1.25 billion viewing minutes on Netflix.

Are the 2025 Critics Choice Awards about to be a repeat of the recent Emmys and Golden Globes?
Television awards faves Hacks, Shōgun, and Baby Reindeer are expected to dominate Friday’s ceremony, which was delayed twice in the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
Season 3 of Max’s laugh riot Hacks is predicted to walk away with four trophies: comedy series, comedy actress (Jean Smart), comedy supporting actress (Hannah Einbinder), and comedy supporting actor (Paul W. Downs). In fact, the only category Hacks is expected to lose is Best Comedy Actor … because it doesn’t compete there. Instead, our odds-makers believe Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This) had better start preparing a speech.
Likewise, Season 1 of FX’s historical epic Shōgun has four races locked up, per our rankings: drama series, drama actress (Anna Sawai), drama actor (Hiroyuki Sanada), and drama supporting actor (Tadanobu Asano). The remaining statuette is Best Drama Supporting Actress,...

TV series with supernatural elements have arguably never been more in vogue than they are today, with series like Evil, True Detective: Night Country, and Stranger Things gripping audiences with their mix of mystery and the supernatural. The odds are good, however, that you missed one of the genre's best, a 2020 eight-episode series out of Australia called The Gloaming. The series is a contemporary classic of the Tassie noir genre, productions filmed in Tasmania that take advantage of the island's distinctive gothic feel. That bleak and gloomy atmosphere, combined with the island's dark past, has, as writer Tim Martain describes, "turned it into that hell on Earth that we imagined it to be." The Gloaming uses that feeling to full advantage in telling a story where the dark secrets of the past become mired in the occult to haunt the present.

Paramount+’s Landman continued its upward trajectory in the first few days of 2025, hitting its best viewing-time mark so far in Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Squid Game had a second straight huge week for Netflix as well.
The Korean hit drew just under 4.6 billion minutes of viewing in the United States for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5, topping the 4 billion mark again a week after its season two premiere. The series fell by less than 7 percent week-to-week from the 4.92 billion minutes it had for its long-awaited return.
Landman snagged 1.3 billion minutes of watch time in the week leading up to its ninth episode. The Taylor Sheridan series, starring Billy Bob Thornton, has improved its totals in every week since it first hit the rankings in late November.
Two other shows also reached a billion minutes to open the year: Virgin River came in at 1.39 billion for Netflix, and Missing You...

Avengers: Doomsday - Chris Evans Denies Recent Report That He's Set To Return; "I'm Happily Retired"
Late last year, The Wrap reported that Chris Evans will make his return to the MCU for Marvel Studios' next big event movie, Avengers: Doomsday. Fans expected Evans to show up as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Secret Wars, anyway, but it was nice to finally have confirmation that the Og Sentinel of Liberty would be suiting-up for action once again.
This wasn't the first time we've heard that plans were in place for Evans to return to the role, but the actor has always denied the reports - and continues to do so!
In Esquire's profile of our new Captain America, Anthony Mackie, the Brave New World star revealed that he reached out to Evans after the news broke, but was met with a denial.
“I didn’t know! I talked to Chris a few weeks ago and it wasn’t on the table then. At least, he didn’t...

Benedict Cumberbatch is proving himself to be an unreliable source for MCU spoilers, as the Doctor Strange star has backtracked on his previous statement about not being in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. After previously telling Variety that he would not be putting in an appearance in the next big event movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he now says, “I got it wrong.”
Cumberbatch has previously been one of several stars put in charge of other actors, such as Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo, to try and make sure they didn’t leak information during interviews. However, it seemed that the actor had been swayed to the dark side when he recently turned involuntary informant and accidentally revealed that his sorcerer would be skipping the next Avengers movie, but would appear in Secret Wars. Streamers in the United States opted for familiar television fare on streaming platforms in 2024, with original series failing to break into the top 10 most-streamed show across all popular platforms, according to a year-end report released by Nielsen.
The Australian children’s cartoon “Bluey” topped out the chat as the most-streamed show in 2024 with 55.62 billion viewing minutes on Disney Plus, Nielsen said.
