Universal Pictures’ My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is aiming to entice audiences this weekend as the widest new release in the UK and Ireland, opening at 587 sites.

The third in the franchise picks up just after the family patriarch Gus has passed away (actor Michael Constantine died in real life in 2021).

Cast including Nia Vardalos – who also directs the third instalment, and wrote the first two, and Sex And The City and And Just Like That… star John Corbett return.

When Ugandan action filmmaker Isaac Nabwana lists off some of the great action stars that became a huge personal inspiration, he says names like Bud Spencer, Chuck Norris, and Bruce Lee, but then he says Rambo (as opposed to Sylvester Stallone). The iconography of American Hollywood action cinema is not only in the stars who act in them, but oftentimes the characters themselves and what they do. How they’re perceived by filmgoers as entertainers are not restrained through economic means. Cultural iconography is created, not born or ordained to the elite. That is the essential project behind Wakaliwood, a makeshift “film industry” in the Ugandan rural village of Wakaliga.

Drafthouse Films has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled Once Upon a Time in Uganda, a story about a young filmmaker in Africa. Blue Finch Boards Sales on Beyond Fest Titles ‘Stéphane,’ ‘Good Boy’ (Exclusive)

Blue Finch Films has boarded international sales on European genre titles, Scandinavian thriller “Good Boy” and found footage film “Stéphane,” ahead of their world premieres at Beyond Fest.

“Good Boy,” which delves into the perils of the modern dating world, follows Sigrid who thinks she’s met the perfect match in Christian until she comes to find out that he lives with a man who acts like his pet dog.

French thriller “Stéphane,” a new take on the found footage genre, follows Timothée, as he documents his time with the larger-than-life, and almost unbelievable character that he meets whilst shooting a short film. As time goes on their jovial and eccentric talks become something far more sinister.

Peter Dinklage to Be Honored at Gotham Awards

The Gotham Film and Media Institute announced that Peter Dinklage will receive a Performer Tribute and the Actors Fund will receive the Gotham Impact Salute 2021 Gotham awards ceremony on Nov. 29 at Cipriani Wall Street.

Dinklage first gained notice in the 2003 film “The Station Agent” and he has received many accolades as Tyrion Lannister in “Game of Thrones” from 2011-2019. Through the series, Dinklage won four Emmy awards and a Screen Actors Guild award.

“The roots of Peter Dinklage’s extraordinary career are firmly grounded in independent film,” said Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of the Gotham Film and Media Institute. “As his work has grown in major features and shows to reach audiences everywhere, Peter has remained a steadfast supporter of this community of independent artists.”

Blue Finch Takes World Sales On Fantastic Fest Doc ‘Once Upon A Time In Uganda’

UK sales and distribution outfit Blue Finch Films has boarded worldwide rights to the documentary Once Upon A Time In Uganda, which is set to have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest next month.

Set in the slums of Uganda, the film follows two men from opposite sides of the world who comes together over a shared love for Chuck Norris. Isaac, a former brick maker in Uganda, decides to pick up a camera and start shooting his own ‘80s inspired action epics, and Alan, a film nerd from New York gives up his life in America to join forces with Isaac after seeing a trailer for one of his films online. The pair end up finding internet fame with their work from ‘Wakaliwood’.

Cathryne Czubek directed, wrote and produced the movie. Amanda Hughes was co-writer. Gigi Dement, Matt Porwoll and Hugo Perez co-produced; the latter also co-directed.
