Ethan Hawke, F. Murray Abraham, Oscar Isaac, Antonia Salib, May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, Saba Mubarak, Sofia Asir, and Michael Benjamin Hernandez in Moon Knight (2022)
Marvel has continued to have its fun on Disney+ with Moon Knight currently plugging away through its six episode season. With its list of new releases for May 2022, however, Disney+ is making clear that it’s time for some more Star Wars.

The biggest title this month is undoubtedly Obi-Wan Kenobi with two episodes premiering on May 27. Ewan McGregor reprises his role from the Star Wars prequel films to portray the beloved last Jedi (for now) in the six-episode series. Details about the plot are already starting to trickle out so steer clear as best you can if you want an unspoiled experience. But if you want to know what other Star Wars characters might be cameoing, we have you covered over here.

That and the Moon Knight finale on May 4 is all she wrote for Disney’s big franchises this month. There are still some other cool options to consider.

Kirti Kulhari: Now things are done differently
Image
Kirti Kulhari, who has been part of many Ott projects including "The Girl On The Train" and "Four More Shots Please", says that Ott has changed the way showbiz works. She says that for an Ott project, a big name may garner buzz initially but after that it's just the content that matters.

"If you are claiming to make content-oriented stuff, then you have to have people who do justice to it. Ott is a space where initial attraction might happen due to a popular face but at the end of it, your name is not enough. I want to see something real and valuable if I am giving my five hours to a show on Ott. Good performance is what works at the end. Rather than projects, cinema is being created in a lot of ways," she informed.

Talking about mass entertainers that feature big male superstars, Kirti says...

Yami says playing a Haryanvi cop for the first time in the film is in sync with her efforts to push herself as an actress every time.

"My whole idea of selecting a film and going ahead with it has been to be as versatile as possible, to do my homework well. For Jyoti Deswal, an Ips officer, I did take coaching to get the nuances right. You...

Mumbai, March 23 (Ians) In 2011, when Parineeti Chopra made her debut with the film Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, and followed it up with films like Ishaqzaade and Shuddh Desi Romance, few would have imagined the cute, bubbly girl in an intense role as Mira Kapoor in The Girl On The Train, or that she would one day transform into ace shuttler Saina Nehwal in the biopic Saina.

If she has managed to prove her versatility, Parineeti says she seems to have rediscovered herself.

"I feel more liberated now, I feel like I found myself again and I feel great to be myself. You see I introduced to the world through the films and the kind of characters I played in those films. Most of them were the bubbly, happy-go-lucky Punjabi girl who is a drama queen too! Those characters were entertaining and people loved me in those avatars.

Aditi Rao Hydari: An actor's rejection is so personal
Image
New Delhi, March 23 (Ians) Actress Aditi Rao Hydari admits she is sensitive. Being thick-skinned is hard for her, despite being in an industry where criticism is part and parcel of a celebrity's life.

"People revel in comparing, pulling people down and criticising. I am very sensitive. So, the thick-skinned thing is hard for me. I feel everything. I will laugh as loudly as I cry and I am okay with that. The whole sensitive side as an actor -- I am like that as a person. So, I can have hard days and it is tough, but I feel I always try looking at the silver lining," said Aditi, who was recently seen in the digitally-released film "The Girl On The Train".

She added: "An actor's rejection is so personal. They are rejecting you. It is always you. It is so personal. It can be very difficult and it can be very heart-breaking.

Kirti Kulhari: Actors are responsible for being typecast
Image
By Anjuri Nayar Singh

Mumbai, March 15 (Ians) Kirti Kulhari feels if an actor doesnt want to be stereotyped in similar roles, then he or she should be ready to refuse projects.

"You are as responsible for being typecast as the person who is typecasting you. You have to make choices that are different and learn to say no. It is not easy to say no but if you don't, you cannot complain. If you stand up for the roles you want to do, you will break out of that mould eventually," she told Ians.

Kirti has made her mark with diverse roles in series such as "Four More Shots Please!", and "Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors" as well as films such as "The Girl On The Train" and "Uri: The Surgical Strike". She says no matter the platform, typecasting happens everywhere, but she has a strict policy of never picking up similar characters.

Now, the video game adaptation has added yet another cast member in the form of Haley Bennett. However, Bennett won't be playing a character familiar to fans of the game. Instead, she will be playing a brand new character being added to the universe specifically for the movie.

Movie Review | The Girl on the Train: Yeh Train, Woh Kajal, Kya Novel, Kya Picture…
Image
The Girl on the Train movie review is here. The 2021 Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller film directed by Ribhu Dasgupta is based on British author Paula Hawkins' 2015 novel of the same name and features Parineeti Chopra in lead.

The Girl on the Train is currently streaming on Netflix.

The Girl on the Train movie review.

And the award for best 'prop'ped up performance goes to that kajal (kohl) in Parineeti Chopra's eyes. That 'train' comes second in this terribly failed attempt to Indianize the 2016 Hollywood movie of the same name, which in turn, was adapted from Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel of the same name. same same, what a shame.

Never would have imagined the amazing Parineeti Chopra, out of focus completely in her worst act, with those raccoon eyes and black nails wandering in the London 'Bollywood knows' in completely sloshed condition.

Mind you, I have not read the novel so...

Streaming Movies Ruled by ‘Croods 2,’ HBO Max’s ‘Tom & Jerry,’ and Netflix’s ‘Bigfoot Family’
Image
This week, it’s all about awards and animation. Wherever you look — VOD charts (“The Croods: A New Age”), Netflix (“Bigfoot Family”), theaters (“Tom & Jerry”), and HBO Max (“Tom & Jerry”), cartoons are king. This weekend, Disney ups the ante with “Raya and the Last Dragon” on Disney+ and in theaters. Meanwhile, “Minari” was strong in its Premium VOD debut and “I Care a Lot” is thriving at Netflix.

No need for industry status to get screeners: Nearly all contenders are available with either platform subscription or VOD rental. Hulu has “Nomadland” and “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” Amazon Prime owns “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” Netflix is the home of “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and “The Life Ahead,” HBO Max has “Judas and the Black Messiah,” Disney+ has “Soul,” and as of March 2, “The Mauritanian” will be on PVOD March 2.

Showing success both on transactional and revenue charts,...

How the Bdsm Community’s Criticism of ‘Bonding’ Inspired Change in Season 2
Image
In the penultimate episode of the second season of Netflix’s “Bonding,” Pete, aka Master Carter (Brendan Scannell), delivers a stand-up comedy set that his best friend and employer-dominatrix, Tiff, aka Mistress May (Zoe Levin), says he did not have permission to share because he is not truly of the community. In the next minute, an agent in the audience calls it “a hilarious take on a world I know nothing about.” These two reactions, while diametrically opposed in emotional delivery, are ultimately saying the same thing: Pete has power and a platform to share secrets of the Bdsm world, but that comes with great responsibility because many watching and listening to him will take his word — and only his word — as gospel.

Such was the case when “Bonding” first premiered on the streamer in April 2019. Creator Rightor Doyle, who once worked as an assistant-slash-bodyguard for a dominatrix, turned some...

The Pfi closes 2019 by supporting domestic projects and minority co-productions - Production / Funding - Poland
Three of the eight films subsidised by the Polish Film Institute are directed by first-timers Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk, Jakub Piątek and Bartłomiej Żmuda. The final batch of production grants given out this year by the Polish Film Institute (Pfi) is much more modest than the previous two. After 20 domestic projects were recommended by expert committees for the grants, only three will end up being supported financially by the main funding body in Poland. In the two previous sessions of 2019, this figure was eight and ten films, respectively. December turned out to be a good month for Anna Jadowska (Wild Roses), whose upcoming Mira, produced by Donten & Lacroix Films, will be given Pln 1.4 million. The same amount was granted to Jakub Piątek’s Prime Time, which has production outfit Watchout Studio on board, and Bartłomiej Żmuda’s More (producer: Before My Eyes). The minority co-productions include five lucky applicants....
