Wuthering Heights

It was ... true to the original?

As a preface, I have read Wuthering Heights several times and adore the story. This movie did not necessarily miss the mark; as far as the plot goes, it was brilliant. It got everything it needed. I wish I could say the same thing for the acting. The actors themselves were beautiful and (for the most part) accurate, especially considering it looked like they were working on a specific budget for the film. But the actual acting? It wasn't there. It really wasn't. Nelly did a good job, but that's all I can say. The entire movie sounded like the original audio had problems so they had to voice over the entire film. It is also a lengthy watch. I don't regret watching it, but wouldn't watch it again.

There is any speech education in actor schools anymore?

I read the book several times, I saw all film adaptions, and four of it more of one times. And normally I enjoy different interpretations. I saw now this Versions but gave up after 90 min now, because I didnt understanding one word step by step, when the audiosound was instabil and stranged tecnicalla, specially Cathy with her horse teeth problems seems never to have had speech or declamation or at least logopedical lessons. She has such worse pronounciation that I understood nothing, and she is far away from interpretating text, how normally it s expected by studied actors and her overacting is far away from the adequat Interpretation by the Cathy of Binoche or Kate Bush, or specially the 2009 and 2011 version. Her Motivations and character are totally unclear. Only what she has common with original Cathy is this strange uncertain refusing Borderline character without any empathy. Next to Nelly, Feriter as Heathcliff is the only cast in this film (but also often too much verzerrt with audiotechnic to understand what he says:, whose portrayal corrisponds with his interest alternative characterization of the book characterband stands next to the most expressive incoporations of Fiennes, the too young Dalton, and Hardy, but who all three show all also a better declamation artistry and variable characterizating. Old school.

I liked The mixed nightmarish cut but I hoped with more than 130 min there were less optical or atmosferic moments and and more of the important scenes and dialogs of the book let out in the other versions. Instead there are less dialogs as in the most shortened ones. And the Edgar cast is a nightmare comparised by the cast in the other versions. Same Haerton and Catherine. You ask only, also why she married him when she also had no interest to help Heathcliff with her position and money?!

What did I just watch?

Could be the worst film of all time. I mean the sound is out of sync with the characters talking, the acting is high school at best, and the rain effects quite literally look like a watering can over the camera. I think everyone involved could do with a deep breath and a review of their life before continuing in their respective careers in cinema. I'm not really sure what to do with the additional 200 characters I need to enter as I think I've summed it up quite well already. I'd probably consider suggesting watching anything else other than this, watching grass grow or counting your feet would be an excellent start.

Epic story

Well crafted story. Great adaptation. This was truly an epic indie film. I really liked the scope of the film for what the budget was they had. Very well done.

If you are a fan of The Room, you will love this

An excellent adaptation, romantic, brutal and visceral, that will be remembered for a long time. Set against a stunning backdrop of hills, grass and beautiful mansions, this movie tells the story well, the ending is beautiful. The love for Brontes characters is apparent both in the actors and the production.

For a period piece with a small to tiny budget, this was entertaining and beautiful. However, there seem to be some problems with the sound design in some scenes. The accents popping in and out were not as noticeable as the sound doing the same thing.

I think that at times some of the actors seemed to have pulled inspiration from the famous Tommy Wiseau acting school. The long black hair makes this even more convincing. All jokes aside, I truly enjoyed it. Unlike another reviewer, I don't regret watching this, and I WOULD watch it again. If you are a fan of The Room and Wuthering Heights, you will love this soon-to-be-cult classic.

Two minds about this film....

While the story was complex and mostly dark, there was a beauty to this film and I was glad I didn't stop as 1/3 as I was tempted to do..... be patient with the slow build, a rich representation of Bronte's unfolds and finds a gentle end.

Bryan Ferriter is definitely a compelling young actor and created a memorable and haunting portrayal of Heathcliffe.... I would like to see further work of his.

Loyal adaptation, but plastic.

The entire movie is very very loyal to the source material - you can trust me, I finished the book today and I remember every single detail - and all the dialogues pretty as well, but the general acting is not convincing, in the dramatics scenes, looks like TikTok acting. For me, the highlight of movie is Nelly, which is the best acting in the entire movie.

The sceneries are pretty impressive by the budget. The most part of scenes were filmed in natural light, it's really cool. You can see the director's passion by the story in the details.

It's a great movie to know the story if you don't want read the Wuthering Heights book.

Brilliant adaptation, great acting.

Genuinely impressed with how good an adaptation this is, staying mostly true to the book. I liked the few liberties they took. The acting was raw, visceral, off the charts performance by Bryan Ferriter. Nelly Dean and little Cathy were so very well done too. In the original book, I hated Heathcliff start to finish. This adaptation brought out his vulnerability quite well and I loved how soft he'd gone in the end. I loved this far more than the other adaptations. A bit slow and lengthy but only because they remained faithful to the book and its original pacing. Loved the moody vibe and the ambience too. Yes, there had been problems with some sound design but that can be easily overlooked given it was built on limited budget. The movie did exceeding well on all other fronts, especially the direction and the acting. I'll definitely be re-watching this one. It made me love the story even more. What a piece of art!
