Naruto’s Sole Advantage Over One Piece is its 2 Acclaimed Revenge Thriller Arcs – So Why Did Kishimoto Abandon It in Boruto?
Image
Naruto is hands down one of the most compelling and influential manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. But that doesn’t mean it lacked competition, as One Piece, time and time again, reigned alongside Naruto as some of the best Shonen works ever created.

Both of these have a very distinctive storyline and their own respective charms that have kept their legacy strong. However, if there is one thing that gave Naruto an edge in the otherwise convoluted genre of Shonen, it is its very interesting revenge arcs.

These arcs gave fans a taste of Shonen but with darker elements and thought-provoking themes. This is why it is all the more bizarre that Kishimoto kind of abandoned that approach when it came to Boruto.

Shikamaru and Sasuke’s revenge in Naruto is iconic

Marvel Rivals Subverts Expectations With Its Roles, But It Could Be Doing More
Image
When assigning roles to its roster of heroes, Marvel Rivals makes some unexpectedly clever choices, but there's still room for improvement. Each playable hero in Rivals is assigned to one of three classes: Duelist, for characters whose focus is on dishing out as much damage as possible; Vanguard, for tanks designed to soak up damage and protect their teammates; and Strategist, for healers who keep the rest of their team alive as long as possible.

A hero's role and their unique kit of abilities is designed to reflect their personality and the powers they have in the original source material of Marvel comics. While it seems like most characters would be easily sorted into one of three roles, some heroes end up with a role that seems contrary to what would be the most obvious. This aspect of the roster is one of Rival's best features, and yet they...

10 Strongest Dragon Ball Z Characters Glorio Can Beat, Ranked
Image
Akira Toriyamas Dragon Ball franchise has grown in remarkable ways since its debut four decades ago and each respective anime expands upon its predecessor and pushes the property to new heights. Dragon Ball is currently at an interesting crossroads where the Dragon Ball Super manga is still on an indefinite hiatus and the new Dragon Ball Daima has helped take over the narrative. Dragon Ball Daima is a satisfying mix of old and new ideas that sees Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and the rest of the animes heroes get transformed into children. The gang bravely heads out to the Demon Realm where a new set of Dragon Balls will hopefully be the solution to their problem.

Goku meets some powerful and resourceful friends during his Dragon Ball Daima adventures and Glorio quickly connects with audiences and becomes a fan-favorite character. Glorio is battle-savvy, skilled with a gun, and possesses powerful lightning...

Dragon Ball Episode 14 Holds Back Krillin's Debut With Roshi's Perversions & Boring B-Plots
Image
Akira Toriyamas Dragon Ball tells a satisfying and succinct story in its introductory 13-episode Emperor Pilaf Saga. The arc effectively conveys its eclectic characters, elastic universe, and the larger dangers that loom in the shadows. Dragon Ball could have ended with The Legend of Goku and still be heralded as a shonen fantasy triumph. However, its better to watch Dragon Ball bravely head into fresh territory that puts the titular wish-granting orbs on the backburner while the series starts to experiment, introduce new characters, and see what else this series has to offer. Gokus Rival admittedly has Goku return to a familiar place Master Roshis Kame House but with the intention of training and honing his martial arts skills.

Gokus Rival is a simple episode that takes its time and doesnt try to overextend itself or cram too much into its runtime. That said, this episode was a crucial turning...

Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki Gets Tease for Possible Upcoming Film
Image
Fans have received some rare potential insight into Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki's upcoming film, with his son Goro Miyazaki revealing some details at a recent event.

Via Oricon, Goro Miyazaki attended the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo, for a preview of the second part of the special The Boy and the Heron exhibition. There, he revealed that his father had started the hobby of creating panorama boxes to pass the time during the film's seven-year production but had only been basing them on his past movies. Goro told the media in attendance, "I'd tell him, 'Make some for future projects. Only making them for your past stuff is boring.' He's making some now though." Goro then added, "I don't know if it'll actually be for his next film, but it's looking like an action-adventure-type movie, nostalgic and reminiscent of the old days."

Mickey Mouse's Original Name & Connection To His Disney Rival Everyone Forgets About
Image
Walt Disney originally planned for his company's mascot to be called Mortimer Mouse, but his wife didn't like the name and it was changed to Mickey Mouse instead. Mortimer Mouse was later reintroduced as Mickey's rival in a 1936 short film called "Mickey's Rival," where he tried to win Minnie's affection but failed hilariously. Although Mortimer Mouse didn't become the company's mascot, he has since made appearances in various Disney cartoons, continuing to play a significant role in Mickey Mouse's history.

The title of Disney's mascot nearly went to one of Mickey Mouse's classic rivals. Since his appearance in the 1929 cartoon, Steamboat Willie, the cheerful, friendly mouse has appeared in more than 130 movies, comics, cartoons, and video games. But there was a time when another mouse character nearly held the position of Disney's mascot.

As Mickey Mouse's popularity rose, more characters were created by the company, ranging from Minnie Mouse to Donald Duck.

Academy won’t rescind Andrea Riseborough’s Best Actress nomination for To Leslie

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that they won’t take any action against Andrea Riseborough and her Best Actress campaign for To Leslie.

“Based on concerns that surfaced last week around the To Leslie awards campaign, the Academy began a review into the film’s campaigning tactics,” reads a statement from Academy CEO Bill Kramer. “The Academy has determined the activity in question does not rise to the level that the film’s nomination should be rescinded.” However, Kramer notes that they “did discover social media and outreach campaigning tactics that caused concern. These tactics are being addressed with the responsible parties directly.“

ESPN Is Seeking $3 Billion in Sports-Betting Deals (Report)
Yelizar Nazarenko in Rivale (2020)
ESPN is looking to partner with major sports-betting houses and is having discussions to license its brand name in deals that could be worth as much as $3 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

The Disney-owned sports network has held talks with Caesars Entertainment and DraftKings, the Journal reported, citing individuals familiar with the discussions. Reps for ESPN, Caesers and DraftKings did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

The way this would work, according to the Journal, is that ESPN would license out its name for a sports betting company to use, either for branding purposes or even rename its sportsbook after them.

ESPN already has marketing partnerships with both Caesers and DraftKings, and any deal would come with an exclusive marketing commitment that would require the sports-betting firm to spend a certain amount of money advertising on ESPN’s platforms, the Journal added.

The network...

The European Film Promotion organization is operating a virtual umbrella stand (Oct. 26 -28) that is host to 14 European film sales companies: Best Friend Forever from Belgium; LevelK from Denmark; Films Boutique, M-Appeal, Picture Tree International, Pluto Film and Sola Media from Germany; Intramovies, Fandango and True Colours from Italy; Media Move from Poland/Germany; Filmax and Latido from Spain; and WestEnd Films from the UK.

Companies and their contents are displayed on the Acfm home page. And, ahead of the market, on Oct. 22, Efp and Unifrance held a warm-up event with online presentations by 20 sellers from Europe. More than 30 Asia-based distributors were in attendance.

The companies offerings include several films selected for the, largely virtual, Busan...
